It is hard to fathom how one man can build a game so beautiful and polished when teams and large budgets fail at this type of thing.

Simple, but entertaining gameplay, beautiful graphics and music. The game could be better in terms of story, but I loved it anyway.

I can't really add anything new to the already overwhelmingly positive reviews but I needed to at least give this game a huge thumbs up.
I wanted to just say that this game surprised me from the moment I started playing and captivated me throughout. I couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Worth it for a once-through. Though there's not a whole lot in the way of replay-value but the gameplay itself is well thought out and enjoyable. The story is good, and the 2D Sidescroller action is almost nostalgic.

People use the "metroidvania" term a bit loosely nowadays,. but other than that this is a good game.
It's a nice hack n slash platformer with RPG elements.

Decent story and voice acting to go along, not too difficult, not too easy. Plenty to do and explore.
If you can get it a bit cheaper than the advertised price, GET IT!

The game itself:

I have played it to a completion of about 83% in 15.5 hours, so it has a decent lenght, a absolutely adore this game and i realy wish for a sequel

but anyway, i am getting distracted, here are the pros off the game:

+ a very epic and ownderfull story
+ Characters who all have their unique charm
+ gorgeous scenery and music
+ a very fluid combat style
+ no material "grinding" once you sold a piece of material, the shop will restock it themselfes overtime
+ a very nicely done crafting system

but as with every game, there are contras altho i cant find many:

- some secret areas are impossible to find without a guide or something
- some may think that the game to to cartoony in terms of style, but thats something i personally love
- platforming a bit unbalanced at times
- you need insane ammount of healing items on the higher levels

I'm mixed on this game. It has a lot of problems that, by rights, should mean it isn't fun. But I've still logged over 30 hours over two playthroughs, so something about it works...

There are three really big problems with this game in my opinion. First, the balancing is very, very poor. The first couple hours of the game are, by far and away, the most difficult. This is because your first few levelups, which take a long time to get, multiply your base stats more than tenfold, but enemies are balanced for your stats once you've leveled up a bit, so they are wildly overpowered to start with. You just cannot afford to get hit more than a few times at the beginning of the game, but you can shrug off small mistakes for the rest of the game, even during the final chapter.

Second, the fighting mechanic is shallow. The core of the game is fighting mobs of enemies, but all of the enemies have very similar attack patterns, and your moveset isn't very complex either. After a while, you get into a grove of comboing enemies using the same spacing tecniques, and all of the fights feel very similar to each other.

And third, in my opinion, the story isn't as good as it could have been. Avoiding spoilers, when Dust's identity is revealed, the story has a lot of opportunity to explore subtle themes and to paint the antagonists in a somewhat sympathetic light. Instead, in my interpretation, it doubles down on making Dust a designated hero who gets to kill the Bad Guys because he's the Good Guy.

For those flaws, though, the game is still a lot of fun to play. There's a lot of exploration in the game with plenty of very rewarding secrets hidden in each level. And the art is absolutely geogeous. Playing this game is fun, but there are other games I can play that are both fun and don't feel like they have rough edges.

I just got this game, and it is pretty phenomenal. Great music, gameplay, story line, and some humorous moments. It's refreshing to see that they still make some great games, in this world of repackaged remakes! Great Metroidvania title!

One of the best arcade style games I've played. Complete with an amazing blend of skill and button mashing. Dust: An Elysian Tail has interesting characters, involving story, and rewarding combos.

If you are willing to look past the near impossible battles that can take hours to get right, then you should definiantly pick up Dust: An Elyssian Tail

This is an extremely fun Platformer/Hack n' Slash that includes tons of fun secrets and interesting upgrades that will keep you playing until the end, and if you're a completionist, to the end of the end.

I highly recommend it as one of the first memorable purchases I've had on Steam.

Just have to say that Fidget is love... Fidget is life

..for the new players... I recommend to start maxing your health and armor 'cause playing tanky in this game is the easiest way through even with the hardest difficulty.

5/5 would play a 1000000 times 100% again :3

This game is just basically a must have. Enough said..

Absolutely amazing game. Beautiful graphics, great music and sound, really motivated voice actors. The combat is fun and as soon as you unlock fidget's powers, becomes truly satisfying when defeating large groups of enemies at a single blow.

And fidget is the cutest and most adorable sidekick ever!!! *wants a fidget doll*

Fun 2D sidescrolling action! Some of the best controls for a controller based PC game! The characters and animation are well done, fun, and interesting. I'm very glad I played this game. It reminded me of playing Megaman or Viewtiful Joe back when they were good... all the well designed abilities, etc.

Introduction
I have to say, this game caught my attention for quite awhile now. And when I purchased it, I knew I was in for a real treat.
So now that I have completed the main in-game campaign, here we are, the Dust: An Elysian Tail review! Don't worry, there are no spoilers :P

Storyline
What? You thought you could get it out of me that easily? No, I think you're better off expirencing the game's story for yourself :P
All I can say is that the story was really good. Prepare some tissues though, there are a few sad moments...

Presentation
The visuals in this game are by far the best I have ever seen in an Indie title. Trust me when I say this, you are in for a real treat once you hit the snowy mountains entrance of the game. Even the open meadows are bursting with bright colors that will brighten you more then ever.
The music is by far a master peace. I can not get over it as it plays over and over again in my head without end and I don't ever get sick of it.

Overall
From my expirence, the story really gave me that emotional feeling I was not expecting, and I'm greatful. Because I will be honest, not many games I get that from with a storyline. Do yourselfs a favor and pay this game full price, it's certainly worth the expirence.

Personal Score:
9/10

I highly recommend this game. Maybe I'm a fool but I actually shed a few tears at some point. (trying to not say when so as to not disclose anything)

It's a bit childish here & there but I found that actually amusing. You should by now have understood that it's mainly a story based game. I'd dare say it's in the same vein as "Child of Light", though "Child of Light" is much much easier( played both on hard)

Graphics are alright, a bit less detailed than say "Child of Light".
the gameplay was overall good. a couple of frustrating pure "platforming" stages, but honestly it's nothing undoable.
Playing on hard, I farmed a bit here & there but nothing outrageous (see playtime)
On the technical aspect, I got two crashes of the game in the whole playtime, not perfect but not crippling either.
