I bought this game on sale, and I can honestly say that it is worth the full price. This game is fantastic! The combat is good, the story is good, characters are full of life, and the music is great. Most definitely would recommend.

I don't have the right words. I'm speechless. This game showed me emotions I didn't know existed. This game showed me a world, from which I never want to leave. This game introduced me to characters, that I don't want to let go. This mixture of feelings is stuck somewhere in my heart causing never ending ache, of which I don't even want to get rid of.

This is perfection. This is beauty.

And I don't want to go.

This was a good Beat Em up, had an interesting idea for a story that kept me engaged. Some of the voice acting was strange, but I think that was because the timing of the lines was off. But a good game, and I did enjoy playing it.

Achievement Quest: This was an achievable 100% but not the easiest. You get most of the achievements playing the game, and then need to do some exploring ( or guide looking) for some collectibles. Playing on hard was probably the hardest achievement

Great hack-and-slash that'll actually make you feel like a badass when you fight. I recommend playing on the hardest difficulty as the extra layer of challenge is possible and so rewarding.
Also, furries. Furries everywhere.

I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS GAME.

I bought this game about a year ago for a sale. I wanted to fill up my library and get points.
I never played it until now because I thought is was just some Neopet game.
I WAS COMPLETELY WRONG.

This game is BEAUTIFUL. The characters are fun and colorful, the places you travel to are diverse and deliver their own sets of emotions, and the story is heart wrenching. You can clearly see dedication for this game. Every line of dialogue is voice acted and has a character portrait (which is animated). And this includes all side quests and side characters. It's fun and just difficult enough to have fun with. It's fairly short if you "binge-play" it, but you get a lot for your money.
My only complaint is that if you choose to complete it to 117%, don't expect any major achievement. Sure, collecting all of a specific collectable gives you an achievement, but not finding all the keys or treasure chests. But that's all that is negative. Everything else is glorious. Games like this aren't normally available for OS, but it actually is!
I'm so happy I played this! And I'm going to try drawing the main characters now because I love them to death and I want to snuggle them.

Dust: An Elysian Tail is a tale about a person who can't remember who he is, and must follow the guidance of a talking sword, and a flying thing named Fidget, to discover his past, and find out who he is.

This is probably in my Top 3 Best Platformer of All Time list. It's seriously that good.
The art style is absolutely gorgeous, and breath taking. This is the most beautifully hand drawn game I have ever seen, for real. The characters look sub par, but what is really beautiful is the enviroment you play on. The background is detailied and beautiful, and the land that you do the platforming on isn't confusing because of how good it looks, unlike some games, where the platforming sections look beautiful, but it's almost TOO detailed, to a point where you don't know if you're gonna land on a certain platform or not. This game does not fall in that category, luckily.

I love a good platformer that also has good RPG elements. This game really has that: when you level up, which I will discuss how you do so later on, you get a skill gem. With this, you can increase one category. Attack, Health, Defense, or Magical Power. My personal favorite is magical power, you can twirl your sword so fast, it makes a dust storm, and then your companion Fidget can release magic, which by itself is harmless. But combined with your gust, it gets amplified. Using this ability is by far one of the most satifying parts of the game.

Speaking of which...the combat in this game is fan freaking tastic. I've personally never been a huge fan of side scrolling combo based combat: but this game does it so well, that I don't mind it. What I like is that doing combos rewards you by not just doing extra damage and making you look cool, but also rewarding you with extra EXP. I really could never get into games like Street Fighter, because there were simply way too many combos and tricks to learn. This game has some basic combos, that you can use throughout the entire game, I'm sure of it. And if you're up to the task, you can try learning some of the more hard to pull of combos. You can also use the dash ability to evade incoming attacks, and, if you're feeling a bit frisky, you can also try parrying. The combat feels smooth, and is one of my favorite parts of the game. From defeating enemies, you can also get certain trinkets, materials, and equipment...

This equipment can be equiped, and gives you slight stat boosts. You may also find blueprints, which can be brought to a blacksmith, to make ever better items. Speaking of blacksmiths, you need materials, which you can get from enemies, or to buy. If you have materials you don't think you have a use for, you can simply sell them for cash. I like this system, it gives you freedom as to what kind of playstyle you want. Want to be a tank that can absorb a bunch of damage, a cool mage, thanks to your friend Fidget of course, or maybe you just wanna be a badass swordsman who can take out crowds with your sword. The decision is entirely up to you.
Now, let's talk less about combat, and more about story and character: as I mentioned at the start of this review, you follow 2 characters: Fidget, and your talking sword. Fidget is by far my most favorite character in the game so far: she's funny, and sometimes breaks the forth wall in the most humorous ways. And hey, I really like who ever voice acted her. Speaking of voice acting, it's phenominal in this game. I'm moderately surprised that a game like this had such good voice acting. Anyways, to wrap up the story, so far it seems promising, with some nice characters, and some possible forshadowing that you may catch on to, might I add.

The soundtrack and sounds are well made. They feel smooth when they need to be, sharp when they need to be, and intense when they need to be. The music really sets in the enviroment, and while most of it is just ambience, it's still

So, is this game worth buying? If you like platformers of any kind, yes, it is. I'm honestly having trouble thinking of any negatives of the game. It has perfect 9s-10s in every category. Music, art, gameplay, story, style, it's got it all wrapped up in one neat little package.

This one the First Games I got 100% Achievement!

It's a good game, worth every second on it.
I bought in Summer Sale but if I knew it was that good I would bought in full price.

Anyways about the game:
The fluidity of the game is simple perfect . You can choose either straight and ignore or wipe everything.
Doesn't have so many bs and impossible bosses or achievements in fact I got 100% in the first run.
And Even so i would play it again.

The game itself has good soundtrack
Enjoyable Graphics
A nice repetitive battle mechanics( if you choose that)
NO LOADING SCREENS of 25sec ( you wait at maximum 3~5sec inload game and even suggesting you have bad pc as mine
Elements of Rpg (Basic stuff)
And a Tolerable story ( It s not bad or good. But you will respect it ) (+-)

In conclusion
Gameplay 10/10
Graphics 9/10
Sountrack 9/10
Story 8/10

Dust: An Elysian Tail is a wonderful take on the standard "Metroidvania" formula. You have a large world map that you can openly explore (or travel around with nifty waypoints) much like in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Throughout your adventure you'll visit a variety of different locations, level up your character, and meet a variety of different characters. While the voice acting is satisfactory at best, the combat, graphics, and soundtrack are all phenomenal.

The first item that must be discussed is the art style. While it's not as active and vibrant as other 2D games (like Rayman Origins or Rayman Legends) it still is beautiful enough to hold it's own. Everything has a hand-drawn look to it and the animation is fantastic.

Combat is another area where the game excels. You're given a talking sword as your main weapon but receive several upgrades and combos to fool around with so combat doesn't get stale. Having the option to counter enemies in a 2D game is always a great addition as well.

Getting 100% for this game wasn't particularly difficult. Most are story related and there are a few missable achievements if I recall but nothing too difficult. Overall it was a very fun game to 100% and quite satisfying as well.

I would highly recommend Dust: An Elysian Tail to any Metroidvania fans or 2D side-scrolling fans in general. It's a fun game that looks great and plays very well.

One of the best games I'd ever played.
This game is a spark in my life.
I very highly recommand you to try this game!
I wish games like these never ended and had never ending stories to them.
And I wish boredom wasn't a thing so I could replay this game over and over again and never get bored of it.
I just can't explain how much I enjoy this game.

I'm saying all of this with only 2.5 hours spent into the game.

Rating: 11/10.

Dust: An Eylsian Tail

Genre : Metroidvania
Rating: 9/10
Comment : Wonderful world, marvellous characters, great story and good gameplay

Dust: An Elysian Tail is one my all time favourite games. Gameplay wise it follows the standard metroidvania rules. As you start the game a lot of areas are unreachable for you but as you progress you learn new abilites with which you can reach those regions later on. The game also has two rpg elements. For one it has a leveling system. Unfortunately it is very simple and doesn't allow for a real specialization. For another it has items that you can equip. The combats are fast and fun to play but in the long run they lack complexity too. Nevertheless the fights and the rpg elements were good enough to keep me motivated. But what makes this game that good for me?

It's the world, the story and espcecially the characters. The main characters (Dust and Fidget) are simply amazing. The writing and the voice acting are superb in my opionion. Anyway I don't want to spoil anyhting from the story so just watch the trailer and decide yourself whether you like what you see. I myself can only recommend the game and I hope a sequel will soon be released.

Get it! Now! One of the best games on the market!

Gameplay is extremely good! Platforming sections are very thought out, the combat is fast-paced and tough, the combo system, while very few options, is solid with alot of follow-up combos, the AI is ok however it does have its moments (which upping the difficulty can fix) and while we are on the topic of the AI, the bosses seems easier to defeat than most of the minions (Gaius and his soldiers are a good example) which is kind of a let-down but it doesn't hurt the game too much.

The story is... great! I enjoyed it. The reason why I say that is that 1. It can be summed up like this: "You're a good guy, defeat the bad guy and bring peace to those around you while you do it." which can be comparable to alot of RPG games. Take TES: 5 for example, similar thing there, (if you made your character a pacifist that is). "But, mildly, why is it great then, when it's comparable to similar games?" Well, my boy, you could come up with a very original story, but in the end it's the characters that tell the story that matters, and Dust nails that!

Although the voice acting is mediocre it doesn't make it worse when the script for these actors are very thought out! The main characters (Dust, Fidget and Ahrah) sound exactly like they should. Dust, like a forgotten individual that seeks purpose, Fidget, like someone who tries his/her best for the sake of afriend and Ahrah sounds very wise and caring for Dust and Fidget.

The art style, the graphics, the textures, the animations, are so BEAUTIFUL! Ive never seen a more beautiful game than this, nothing compares to it. It really seems like alot of deviantart artists banded together (which is further from the truth) to create these flying colours with passion and effort when they were actually created by ONE. SINGLE. PERSON! (told ya)

The music! I... I have to talk about the music! Alex Brandon along with HyperDuck SoundWorks succeeds with flying colours on this part. All tracks fit well to the locations. Beautiful sceneries have epic music, the Sorrowing Meadows and the haunted mansions have music with alot of emptiness and sorrow tied to it, chase scenes (in the mansions) have an extremely scary theme that you must RUN and the final locations and boss battle gave me thoughts of not turning back, that it's now or never!

To conclude this review, Dust: An Elysian Tail is a crafted masterpiece! Developed by just one passionate man which completely baffles me! The only reason not to pick this up is if you can't stand 10 hours or less of gameplay, for everyone else though, this is a required must buy - must owned. And I'm going to say this now because even in 2016 there are still people that doesn't get this. *distant shouting* JUST BECAUSE IT STARS FURRY CHARACTERS, DOES NOT MAKE IT INSTANTLY BAD! YOU COULD GIVE TWO ♥♥♥♥♥ ABOUT WHAT THE CHARACTERS LOOK LIKE IF THE CORE CONCEPT OF THE GAME IS EXECUTED CORRECTLY, AND DUST DOES THAT!

MY VERDICT, FOR DUST: AN ELYSIAN TAIL IS A 9.4/10 AND IF YOU DON'T HAVE IT ALREADY, SHAME ON YOU!
