Servers are back up!

Sorry about the downtime that started about 7PM (PST) last night. Leaderboards, popular songs, song of the day, dethrones, and challenges are all working again.

There was a power outage at the server hosting company.

“Every track is a different journey, and the algorithm for analysing music and building fun and challenging courses is superb.”
IGN

À propos de ce jeu

By blending gameplay with music visualization, Audiosurf puts you inside your music in a way nothing else can. Use your own music to create your own experience. The shape, the speed, and the mood of each ride is determined by the song you choose.

What are the biggest improvements from Audiosurf 1?

Ever-expanding new ways to play with over 500 and counting player-created mods and skins on Workshop.. Additional layers of strategy tied to the song’s biggest moments. In-game leaderboards let you compare your score moment to moment against your friends and rivals even when they’re not online. Enhanced graphics quality. Ability to search for music (including online music). Available on Mac and Linux!

What’s new about Mono mode in Audiosurf 2?

In Audiosurf 2 your timing in mono mode is more important than ever. You’ve got to strategize to get your grid full at the most intense moments of songs to get the most points. Look ahead in the distance for corkscrew loops with powerups to know when these moments will occur.

What do I get in the demo?

The demo allows players to play any song they want, for their first 3 songs. After that, they can play the Song of the Day, everyday, as many times as they want.

Is there a mode that focuses on dodging blocks?

Yes, there's a new Ninja mode. It has a big bonus for hitting no spikes and creates intense spike fields to weave through. It’s faster than regular Mono and the second-to-second challenge of avoiding spikes is harder. For even more challenge there’s ninja turbo. It’s too fast for you.

What’s new about the Puzzle modes in Audiosurf 2:

Just as with Mono mode, your timing on Puzzle modes is now more important than ever. Push, Shuffle, Erase, or Scoop blocks at the just the right moments to take full advantage of multiplier powerups that come at the most intense moments of songs.

Can players make their own mods and skins to share on Steam Workshop?

Yes! There’s detailed documentation on making Audiosurf 2 skins available here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=413812198
Also, every mode and skin in the games comes with the script source code and assets. Players can use any of the official modes/skins as a starting place.

Purement addictif, une sélection par la communauté de morceaux de soundcloud avec classement régional / mondial, nombreux modes et skins, possibilité d'importer vos propres MP3... Un moyen de "vivre" votre collection musicale :)

+ The graphics look and feel really good. Dusk theme is my personal favorite, I can finally surf more than 5 songs without getting a headache. Great improvement on Audiosurf 1!
+ The improved algorythm adds to that feeling as well. More bounce!
+ Workshop has some fun and well made skins to surf with
+ Soundcloud integration is nice, that site deserves more attention imho
+ I like the wakeboard mode, although I don't fully understand it yet

+- Search screen is good, but also confusing since online content and offline content aren't shown separately. You're forced to search in both at the same time.
+- I don't like online pollution promoting songs I don't care about on my startup screen. But I guess it's helpful to guide people to songs that actually have a global score to compete with.

- Global scores are generally empty though, and I'm afraid that will stay that way since AS2 just isn't as popular as the first one. This is much less the case with Audiosurf 1, even nowadays. This is especially true if you're listening to less popular music.
- It feels like cheating not to be as harshly punished for overfilling. I liked that challenge better in AS1. I do like that all of the modes are still available though (I think all of them are there at least).
- Menu isn't as good looking or clear as in AS1 either
- No music on startup. The opening track of AS1 and the menu graphics gave the game some personality, no such thing here. It feels more clinical.
- No achievements (at the time of this writing, at least)
- Still no Spotify integration. I understand why, but this game would sell so much better if it would be possible. And sales are needed for those global scores

Would I recommend this game considering these thoughts? Sure. Well, I'd say that if you already own Audiosurf 1, wait until it's on sale. If you don't own either, buy either at either full price or sale. It's still pretty cool.

Get this game if you love listening to music and want to have some casual fun along with it. If you don't want to pay the full price go for Audiosurf (the first one).

There isn't much difference between the two, however Audiosurf 2 has some nice updates. More gamemodes, introduction of the soundcloud, better graphics etc.
