About This Game

By blending gameplay with music visualization, Audiosurf puts you inside your music in a way nothing else can. Use your own music to create your own experience. The shape, the speed, and the mood of each ride is determined by the song you choose.

What are the biggest improvements from Audiosurf 1?

Ever-expanding new ways to play with over 500 and counting player-created mods and skins on Workshop.. Additional layers of strategy tied to the song’s biggest moments. In-game leaderboards let you compare your score moment to moment against your friends and rivals even when they’re not online. Enhanced graphics quality. Ability to search for music (including online music). Available on Mac and Linux!

What’s new about Mono mode in Audiosurf 2?

In Audiosurf 2 your timing in mono mode is more important than ever. You’ve got to strategize to get your grid full at the most intense moments of songs to get the most points. Look ahead in the distance for corkscrew loops with powerups to know when these moments will occur.

What do I get in the demo?

The demo allows players to play any song they want, for their first 3 songs. After that, they can play the Song of the Day, everyday, as many times as they want.

Is there a mode that focuses on dodging blocks?

Yes, there's a new Ninja mode. It has a big bonus for hitting no spikes and creates intense spike fields to weave through. It’s faster than regular Mono and the second-to-second challenge of avoiding spikes is harder. For even more challenge there’s ninja turbo. It’s too fast for you.

What’s new about the Puzzle modes in Audiosurf 2:

Just as with Mono mode, your timing on Puzzle modes is now more important than ever. Push, Shuffle, Erase, or Scoop blocks at the just the right moments to take full advantage of multiplier powerups that come at the most intense moments of songs.

Can players make their own mods and skins to share on Steam Workshop?

Yes! There’s detailed documentation on making Audiosurf 2 skins available here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=413812198
Also, every mode and skin in the games comes with the script source code and assets. Players can use any of the official modes/skins as a starting place.

This polished turd is only half-finished and ♥♥♥♥ered up more than it needed to be. Just stick with the first Audiosurf and you're better off. Literally, the only thing you're missing with Audiosurf 2 are modded modes and skins. Those shouldn't even need to be a must-have feature if it was made right, which it ♥♥♥♥ing wasn't. All of those "big improvements" are ♥♥♥♥ing cosmetic.

This game will make you want to redo a whole 12 minute song just because you missed a single color block and you are only 2nd globally for that song.

Game? Amazing. The improved version of the first one, hands down.
First time playing? I nearly got an attack.
Maybe I didn't see it, or read through it enough, but I didn't find something telling about the flashing lights or bright colors. Yed. the first game was that, but the Mono version in the...stadium I think it was? Something like that, got some moments in which lights were coming and going through the wall and I could barely see anything because my eyes kept unfocusing.

STILL! I decided to try another modes, and man did they were nicely done! I specially love the jumping and running ones, I couldn't get bored of those real quick. When the character jumped so high right in the best moment of the song I thought "Yep, 14,99€ well spent".

While I'll avoid the mono levels a bit, at least until I can see a feature that disables thos flashing lights, I'll stick with those two modes and try the others.
Amazing game, I love it.

Just like the previous one but better

Got this during the 2016 Summer Sale, both me and my girlfriend had a great time with it, we either took turns on the same song, or we played 'dual mono' (a mode from the Workshop).
Quite a fun game.

Gameplay
Maybe it's me, but Audiosurf 2 definitely seems to sync with songs better.
Other than that, gameplay is similar to the previous one, except for the modes, there are about two more (with many more available on the workshop)
I like the Soundcloud integration, but for some reason it doesn't detect all my uploaded songs.
I wish there was a YouTube integration aswell, but i suppose they didn't want to make a partnership with Audiosurf 2.
Setting up 'personal goals' might keep you even more entertained, for example, i played a 20 minute trackmix i made about 2-3 years ago, without taking a break, while the legends say that my eyes still bleed, it was pretty fun and challenging.
I highly recommend you a controller (gamepad), mouse works just fine, in fact, i play better with the mouse, but the mouse doesn't give that amazing arcade feeling the controller gives me.

Overall, the gameplay is like in the first one, and if you're not aware with what you are doing in the game, it's pretty simple -- You just 'ride' on the rhytm of songs, avoid obstacles, and collect colorful blocks.

Modding
Audiosurf 2 is pretty moddable, inside the workshop you can find hundreds of new game modes, but also skins!
Modding is a great aspect in games, and i am glad the dev did it

That's pretty much it, almost everything else is just straightforward.
I surely recommend this to everyone, and if you are unsure about purchasing it or not, you can always try the demo that you can find on the Steam Store.

Feature Details Score
Gameplay Engaging while also very fun. The huge variety of gamemodes help. You'll keep playing just to beat a leaderboard score. 5/5
Graphics Stunning, nostalgic or rainbow vomit. You decide with the massive amount of skins. 5/5
Settings There is room for improvement, with just one screen with all settings thrown on it. 3/5
Music Sync Probably the best you can get, without creating specific timings like osu or stepmania. You will see the shortcomings in some gamemodes, such as audiosprint. 4/5
Steam Workshop Gamemodes can be created with lua, skins with textures and some 3d modelling. There is a decent collection that continues to grow. 4/5
Online Connectivity Native SoundCloud support means this game has a huge community. The value of being able to use SoundCloud to play songs or send challenges to friends cannot be overstated. 5/5

Songs tested:
Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc [audiosprint][daylight]
Fiver T.J. Fox - Who you gonna call? [wakeboard][greenhill]
Hatsune Miku - Bad Apple [casual][SimpleN1randomspace]
Andrade "Cien" Almas - Making A Difference [mono][spektrum]
Chase & Status - International (VIP Vs Skrillex) [vegas][as-portal]
JAM - the Festival of Ghost 2 [wakeboard][sergalicious shiny]
Zea - The Ghost of Wind [ninja][spektrum]

Played 2 hours worth of my iTunes library on this game before I realized it's more than just riding the soundwaves of your favorite songs, but it's also an arcade style strategy-puzzle game with an extensive global leaderboard.

And I suck at it.

But I did very much enjoy my first 2 hours of innocence before feeling like an absolute loser. 10/10 would cry again.

All in all, really cool game, would definitely recommend.

Either buy it on sale or buy the first one. I feel like too much was changed in this and that the original did much better. The gamplay feels too fast with too many times were I can bearly tell what's happening on my screen, you could play something super calm sounding, and the game will make it go down in a barrage of random stuff. I just want to also say for a second how ruined the way you're penalized for hitting the wrong block, now instead of having a road block that stops your ability to get a higher combo for a while, they just destroy the block in that row, and each song has a never ending ♥♥♥♥♥torm of them. It's not like if you're in a energetic part of the song and suddenly there's a whole lot more of them, like in the first one, instead, there's a freaking ♥♥♥♥ load of them in a straight line every second, and you go so fast that when you do hit them, that it would be too late too get out of the way and now you're entire combo row of blocks is gone in an instant. But with a more lengthy amount of interesting game modes, while I personaly don't like some them, give more replay ability for each song. So either get it on sale or get the first one.

If you're a fan of music, I highly recommend getting this game. Your own custom library able to be played on a randomly generated track through different game modes, like mono, ninja, and wakeboard (surf). All this plus more due to steam workshop support. You can even play it like guitar hero through the use of workshop. $15 may seem a bit much depending on the person. I would say its worth it if you definitely want a good music game, however if you have some doubt, wait until a sale. It's a nice game to play if you wanna relax or just have some quick fun. Go ahead and get it if you're a fan of music, surfing, or both.

Such an awesome game with so many cool modded tracks. It has one glaring issue and that's no Spotify compatibility!!!!!!!!!! This is only an issue because I listen to all my music digitally and don't have them stored on my pc, and also SoundCloud has much too small of a selection. I listen to lots of Metal! This doesn't have enough. With what it does have and at 5 bucks it's a great game.
