About This Game

By blending gameplay with music visualization, Audiosurf puts you inside your music in a way nothing else can. Use your own music to create your own experience. The shape, the speed, and the mood of each ride is determined by the song you choose.

What are the biggest improvements from Audiosurf 1?

Ever-expanding new ways to play with over 500 and counting player-created mods and skins on Workshop.. Additional layers of strategy tied to the song’s biggest moments. In-game leaderboards let you compare your score moment to moment against your friends and rivals even when they’re not online. Enhanced graphics quality. Ability to search for music (including online music). Available on Mac and Linux!

What’s new about Mono mode in Audiosurf 2?

In Audiosurf 2 your timing in mono mode is more important than ever. You’ve got to strategize to get your grid full at the most intense moments of songs to get the most points. Look ahead in the distance for corkscrew loops with powerups to know when these moments will occur.

What do I get in the demo?

The demo allows players to play any song they want, for their first 3 songs. After that, they can play the Song of the Day, everyday, as many times as they want.

Is there a mode that focuses on dodging blocks?

Yes, there's a new Ninja mode. It has a big bonus for hitting no spikes and creates intense spike fields to weave through. It’s faster than regular Mono and the second-to-second challenge of avoiding spikes is harder. For even more challenge there’s ninja turbo. It’s too fast for you.

What’s new about the Puzzle modes in Audiosurf 2:

Just as with Mono mode, your timing on Puzzle modes is now more important than ever. Push, Shuffle, Erase, or Scoop blocks at the just the right moments to take full advantage of multiplier powerups that come at the most intense moments of songs.

Can players make their own mods and skins to share on Steam Workshop?

Yes! There’s detailed documentation on making Audiosurf 2 skins available here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=413812198
Also, every mode and skin in the games comes with the script source code and assets. Players can use any of the official modes/skins as a starting place.

now that you can actually hear audio in-game, i can actually rate this

this game lives up to its predecessor in numerous ways, the tracks seem more in beat, different skins and game modes, and leaderboards / comments make this a true sucessor to the original audiosurf
for only 5 dollars you really can't go wrong here

Years later, still good. Unfortunately, the leaderboards seem to be not working but that's a minor issue when you get the game on a 75% sale.

Such an awesome game with so many cool modded tracks. It has one glaring issue and that's no Spotify compatibility!!!!!!!!!! This is only an issue because I listen to all my music digitally and don't have them stored on my pc, and also SoundCloud has much too small of a selection. I listen to lots of Metal! This doesn't have enough. With what it does have and at 5 bucks it's a great game.

Addictive, easier on the eyes than the first audiosurf. Unfortunately, it also loads way slower.

Audiosurf 2 is a lane based Rhythm game where the tracks are created by the music you are playing. If you have played the first you know exactly what to expect here as it is a very “more of the same” sequel. You still have Mono mode where the goal is to simply collect blocks and avoid the gray ones while you also have four characters that require you to match blocks up to their respective colors. You have two new modes introduced to this sequel, qne is called Wakeboarding, a mode very similar to Mono but you now have the option to jump which can be used to avoid certain blocks or to pull off tricks. The other is called AudioSprint which plays like a game from the Runner genre in which you try to dodge obstacles via sliding or jumping while being unable to lower your speed or stop. It is an interesting change of pace from the usual brick collecting and one that can be played with three other players via local multiplayer.

Soundcloud has been added and allows you to search up plenty of music even if you have none on your PC which is a great feature. One thing that has seen a very big improvement from the original Audiosurf is the track generation for the slower placed songs and genre which flow much better with the pace of the song. Leaderboards are back and unlike the original you no longer have to sign up for a separate account to compete as it uses your Steam profile instead which was one of the things that bugged me most about the original. What really adds a lot of value and longevity to Audiosurf 2 is the community itself. This is a very mod friendly title in where you can create your own modes and skins to make some really neat stuff such as a Sonic theme, fling a plane to collect more fuel and even a Shmup created by your music.

The new modes, better graphics, Soundcloud and even the mods themselves don't necessarily make this sequel a must have for those that already own the original. When it comes down to it, it is bigger, better and more content filled than it ever was before yet it's still the same familiar gameplay. There is nothing wrong with that but it does make it a bit of a hard bargain to buy a new game to do essentially the same thing. In a rather rare move for a game on the PC there is a demo available to actually see for yourself if this game is worth your purchase beforehand which is rather awesome of them. For those new to the series this is definitely the one to get however, as this is without a doubt the superior title and a must have for those seeking a fun, competitive rhythm game.

Game? Amazing. The improved version of the first one, hands down.
First time playing? I nearly got an attack.
Maybe I didn't see it, or read through it enough, but I didn't find something telling about the flashing lights or bright colors. Yed. the first game was that, but the Mono version in the...stadium I think it was? Something like that, got some moments in which lights were coming and going through the wall and I could barely see anything because my eyes kept unfocusing.

STILL! I decided to try another modes, and man did they were nicely done! I specially love the jumping and running ones, I couldn't get bored of those real quick. When the character jumped so high right in the best moment of the song I thought "Yep, 14,99€ well spent".

While I'll avoid the mono levels a bit, at least until I can see a feature that disables thos flashing lights, I'll stick with those two modes and try the others.
Amazing game, I love it.

If you're a fan of music, I highly recommend getting this game. Your own custom library able to be played on a randomly generated track through different game modes, like mono, ninja, and wakeboard (surf). All this plus more due to steam workshop support. You can even play it like guitar hero through the use of workshop. $15 may seem a bit much depending on the person. I would say its worth it if you definitely want a good music game, however if you have some doubt, wait until a sale. It's a nice game to play if you wanna relax or just have some quick fun. Go ahead and get it if you're a fan of music, surfing, or both.
