About This Game

By blending gameplay with music visualization, Audiosurf puts you inside your music in a way nothing else can. Use your own music to create your own experience. The shape, the speed, and the mood of each ride is determined by the song you choose.

What are the biggest improvements from Audiosurf 1?

Ever-expanding new ways to play with over 500 and counting player-created mods and skins on Workshop.. Additional layers of strategy tied to the song’s biggest moments. In-game leaderboards let you compare your score moment to moment against your friends and rivals even when they’re not online. Enhanced graphics quality. Ability to search for music (including online music). Available on Mac and Linux!

What’s new about Mono mode in Audiosurf 2?

In Audiosurf 2 your timing in mono mode is more important than ever. You’ve got to strategize to get your grid full at the most intense moments of songs to get the most points. Look ahead in the distance for corkscrew loops with powerups to know when these moments will occur.

What do I get in the demo?

The demo allows players to play any song they want, for their first 3 songs. After that, they can play the Song of the Day, everyday, as many times as they want.

Is there a mode that focuses on dodging blocks?

Yes, there's a new Ninja mode. It has a big bonus for hitting no spikes and creates intense spike fields to weave through. It’s faster than regular Mono and the second-to-second challenge of avoiding spikes is harder. For even more challenge there’s ninja turbo. It’s too fast for you.

What’s new about the Puzzle modes in Audiosurf 2:

Just as with Mono mode, your timing on Puzzle modes is now more important than ever. Push, Shuffle, Erase, or Scoop blocks at the just the right moments to take full advantage of multiplier powerups that come at the most intense moments of songs.

Can players make their own mods and skins to share on Steam Workshop?

Yes! There’s detailed documentation on making Audiosurf 2 skins available here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=413812198
Also, every mode and skin in the games comes with the script source code and assets. Players can use any of the official modes/skins as a starting place.

A few of my Early Access complaints have been answered thanks to the official product release.

This game is practically the Guitar Hero of PC gaming. I would highly recommend it.

If you enjoyed the original audiosurf, get this, it's basically audiosurf, but opened up to the max, with fantastic modding support and every mode you could wish for. If a mode you want isn't there, chances are you can find it on the workshop already, and the game has only just left early access. If you haven't played the original, also get this. It's a brilliant rhythm game where you can play with any song you like on a multitude of game modes.

It's basically the same concept as the original Audiosurf but a lot of little things makes it better. It has

  • Steam Workshop Support for skins and mods. Just one click and you get your new skin.
  • Live scoreboard during play with your Steam friends on it.
  • Live scoreboard for those who have no friends with dozens of Steam people on it who are better than you :P
  • Widescreen support
  • Much more sexier look

A great game which is both nice for score attack or just for family fun. At this moment I have around 78 hours in it plus my ex has an additional 46 with a then-family-shared Steam Library. A pretty good value for your money. :)

This is an updated review from my Early Access review. This is largely the same as the original Audiosurf, but with the addition of new modes and skins (with even more to be obtained from the Steam Workshop). Enhanced visuals, gameplay that relies more on scoring high than obtaining perfection, and of course a game that's limited only by your music library. During Early Access, the UI was fairly bland and the menus were a mess to navigate. Now, it's much more refined and better looking. The game UI is fairly simple compared to the original game, but that's not really a bad thing; sometimes, it's best to keep things simple. The improvements make for a much more polished game as opposed to Early Access. That said, if you're still not sold on these new features, then you're probably better off with the original Audiosurf.

So I have played this game since Early Access.
Would Reccomend. It went from a shambles to a perfectly polished and fully functioning beautiful game.
Go for it mates. Its like the 1st game... but nicer.

The original Audiosurf is the reason I downloaded Steam. 185 games later Audiosurf 2 is still my favorite game which I play every day. Now that the official release is out it is better in every way than the original. There is no other game out there that reacts as dynamically to music. If you like attacking scores on puzzle games like Tetris Attack, then puzzle league is for you. Play Vegas as an introduction and study how the scoring system works and you'll be hooked. If at first you can't compete then pick some obscure song that only you and a handfull of people own and capture that high score. Down the road you will get an email that someone dethroned you and you will laugh and re-attack their score. Thanks Dylan for listening to the fans and making the perfect game!

Early Access Review
I'll be short.

I'm writing this review only because I thought about it, and I've been an ♥♥♥ with Dylan, on the forums. I've been truly, excessively negative about this game just because he didn't add a proper last.fm support for months (still kinda crippled as last.fm integration but what the heck! At least it's there).

As early access game, I believe it's worth your money. It's AS1 but with better graphics, mechanics and workshop.

Sure there are still things to fix (you can't change settings during a song, there's no way to change colours except downloading a different skin), but overall none could say this game isn't worth your 10 bucks.

As Audiosurf 1 was the game that made me use steam almost daily, so is Audiosurf 2. I bloody love this game.

Definitely recommended.

I might write another review as it gets out of Early Access.

Pros:
-Graphics have improved
-Feels a little more intense
-New modes make playing a little more fun
-Workshop mods have a variety of new skins and modes to choose from (though some of them are horrible and need to be fixed)

Cons:
-Horrendous menu design
-Slow loading times
-Extremely lacking in setting options (NO SONG VOLUME CONTROL??)
-Also unable to go back to your game when in settings menu and have to start song over again from the songs menu.. (lame..)

Since this is early access, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and hope the game improves when it's fully released. But to be honest, you're better off with Audiosurf 1 for now until they have new updates.

Better than the first. The graphical change takes some getting used to, but you can change the skins.
The general allignment/ track creating is a bit better. See you guys on the leaderboards

PROS:
Better tracking
In game "live" highscores
Soundcloud (your music + who you follow)
Different highscore boards
Shuffle every audio file you have into a playlist
I can tell people to check out my mixtape in the comments

CONS:
Game lags with steam notifications
Tracking isn't always 100% the same as the last time you played it

Suggetions:
Ability to "bookmark" certain file locations for ease of selecting music
Be able to set parameters for shuffle playlist

Alright, I'm going to make this brief - here is what you need to know.

Cons
-awful menu system - very difficult to navigate
-impossible to change the most basic of settings during a game
-everything apart from the actual gameplay is incredibly visually unappealing
-long loading times - even for basic menus
-beginning of games are confusing are visually unappealing until the camera is focused on the player

Pros
-The process of adapting music into a track is far better
-the graphics have taken on a more 3D style
-visual effects are just as exciting as previous game - can be changed with new skins
-can be great fun - the actual gameplay has significantly improved, especially for fast paced songs

Don't get me wrong here - I had great fun actually playing this game but the menus and other things in between really hinder having a fun experience. But if you manage to put on a great song, the gameplay (especially when you go through corkscrews) is hugely fun..
It should be kept in mind that this is an early access game, so I assume various faults, specifically the menus which I found took a lot of the pleasure away from this game, will be fixed in the future. If you're a fan of the first game, this will most likely appeal to you. If you haven't played the first and don't know what to expect, I think it is best to leave this game until it is out of early access.

Haven't played it a ton yet, loved the original can allready tell this one is going to be better!

Pros:
-Workshop integration.
-Soundcloud Integration.

Cons:
Some menu features are still a little buggy (not ever been a big deal).

Suggestions (I feel like that's sort of what early acess is for):

-Would Love to see spotify intigration, not sure if this is possible.
-In the absense of that I would suggest maybe grooveshark.

~Cheers

If you've played Audiosurf, then you'll love this game.

This game is faster, more intense, than the first game but also more competitive in a way...

there's quite a bit more modes to play with, for example, there's wakeboard, one of the new modes that you can play as.
basically, you're a person on a board, being pulled by two boats, and doing flips in the air. eh, that's the best way I could describe it....

And if you're bored with the modes, try somethings off the workshop there's a lot to choose from. Like new modes to play with, to new skins for the ship and backround.... It's up to you, just don't over flow the game with mods though...

I Recommend this game if you like music, and playing games!

If you liked Audiosurf 1, then Audiosurf 2 is the right thing for!
First things first, Audiosurf 1 was great - let us who have tried the original game, admit this.
Audiosurf 1 had it all,
- A raceing ship.
- Greys to avoid.
- Colored blocks to catch.
- Music - from you own libary!
- And other gamemodes!!!!!

And then theres Audiosurf 2... I'm an advanced mono/turbo player, and by the time I have wrote this review, I've been playing this game for around 350.8 hours.

So what does Audiosurf 2 have, that the original didn't have? Let me tell you:

- Audiosurf 2 has all as the original game.
- Audiosurf 2 has MOD SUPPORT! (In a better way than the original.)
- Also the sequel has skin support... Yes you can create your own skins and appereance for this game...
- You can also connect to soundcloud ingame and stream music through that.
- But the most important thing, is that the Audiosurf 2 community is ever expanding and is much more alive than the original game.

I've actually met new people and "friends" in this game!

So if you want a game with a great community, with an ever expanding playground for modders and skinners and a new feel for riding your music, then this game is for you guys!
I give this game 9/10.

PS: There is alot that I have choosen to leave out of this review, because else there would be no fun for you guys to explore... (^-^)

I've taken a short break from this amazing game to say this:

As someone who's put 40+ hours into the original Audiosurf, I can tell you that if you're wondering if the sequel is worth purchasing when you already own the original, I have your answer. It absolutely is.

The main negative I have is the UI; as of December 28th this could use a lot of work. As in, an OVERHAUL scale of work. But besides that, I'm in love with this iteration. The Workshop support looks incredibly promising to me, although I've yet to try it.

One thing I've seen listed as a negative is the fact that the traffic patterns change slightly whenever you replay the same audio file. And to be honest, I see that as more of a positive than a negative. Not only does it create even more replay value for me by keeping things fresh every game, but it also eliminates the highscore seekers who play the game for hours on end only to memorise the exact pattern of each song to get the perfect score. In my opinion, if getting a high score is that important to you, you need to reevaluate some priorities in your life.

But don't listen to me rambling. Buy the game!

It's Audiosurf. With mods.
*shutupandtakemymoney.gif*

In all seriousness though, while I'm probably not qualified to comment on the official modes (I play my own mod almost exclusively), the outstanding mod support alone is enough for me to give it my highest recommendation.

With enough dedication, you can bend the game to your will and craft a game mode that's catered specifically to your own playstyle. Simply visit the workshop page to see the kinds of mods and skins that people have been able to create with even in this pre-release stage.

The game has some rough edges at the moment. The UI needs polish (getting addressed in an upcoming update), there are some conflicting opinions on certain gameplay tweaks from v1, and I've encountered a few bugs and visual glitches here and there. Nothing so far has been nearly enough to curb my overwhelming enthusiasm for the game though.

I also just found out that as of now I've put in more time in v2 than v1, with 300+ hours and counting.

For $15, this game has provided me with limitless entertainment.
Why not find out if it could do the same for you? =D

Fun Game to play and relax too - despite this being "early Access" - the game is being updated regularly, and the competition in the tables is fun.

Completely modable and skinable, great fun - good choices every day on the song of trhe day, and thouroughly satisfied.

Personally I would say this is about as polished as it needs to be to start playing the game... there are a few bugs that are still being polished out naturally, however they are being worked through.

I say take the plunge and buy this it is worth it... :D
