Gremlins, Inc. & Eador

In 2009, Alexey Bokulev designed and developed a turn-based strategy Eador. Genesis. That game went on to score really well with the players. In 2013, we released a 3D remake of the game under the title of Eador: Masters of the Broken World that successfully sold over 200.000 copies worldwide.

To celebrate the release of Alexey Bokulev's latest game Gremlins, Inc. that comes out this week and the connection between the world of Eador titles and the world of Gremlins, Inc., on March 11 we issue special Steam coupons to all the owners of Eador. Genesis and Eador: Masters of the Broken World, entitling them to a one-time discount on Gremlins, Inc. in the period from March 11 – March 31 (if you own one of these games, you will see the coupon in your Steam inventory).

Dear guests from Eador: welcome to Zarr's world, the world of gremlins!

Recensies

“It's indie roots show in the production values but it also has heart and provides both depth of gameplay and challenge I've not seen in more commercial products in ages. Eador: Genesis is both charming and rock hard with a fiendishly sharp sense of humor.”

Let's get this out of the way... this game looks like something you'd
pull out of a box in 1990 and go "This looks like ****, my Amiga 500
can do sooo much better!".

That was it for the negative points.
Now for them positives...

All of them, no really, this is a proper "game", not a technical showcase
or a way to kill 30 minutes. There is substance, hidden depths, and
you're going to miss important stuff during the day up to the moment
when some kind of family intervention pulls you out of it, because you
are going to experience proper "another turn" vibes.

Don't let the graphics and the UI put you off, trust me. Give yourself
half an hour to get past the initial feelings and you'll enjoy Eador: Genesis,
whether you're playing it full screen like I do or in a small window.
If you REALLY hate the way it looks… I don't know, put on some
3D glasses and pretend you're hallucinating, but play this game.

The game is great, probably one of the most fun games I've ever played. But I'm only writing this review to note something very important: THIS GAME DOES NOT HAVE WINDOWS 10 SUPPORT. And it runs very badly on Windows 8 and possibly 7. Requiring you to slow down your computer in the settings or refusing to go fullscreen.

The hours I have in it were all spent in a very small windowed screen on Windows 7, reducing the quality of gameplay, obviously. Once I upgraded it refused to run at all.

If you are looking to still play it however (Which you should, it's a great game.) I highly recommend Eador: Master of the Broken World, which is a 3d remake and offers the exact same experience, except it actually works.

So at first is was like "Oh god no, please not another crappy nostalgia-like hexagonal tactical game" but i decided to give it a try.

And i enjoyed it !

I played for hours, gradualy leveling my character and my army, discovering and conquering every piece of land i could, getting great gear and storing a crap load of money.

And then i finished the map...

And i had to start everything over on another one.

Even though the reason why i have ot do this is explianed in the lore, it's still f*ing annyong to have the feeling i've waisted hours of my life making a perfect realm for nothing.

If at least there was some achievements to earn, or if you could get just a fraction of what you got in the new map, that would be awesome.

But no. There is nothing, and you just start over, listening at the same music again and again, doing the same things again and again, with crappy graphics and somehow laggy game.

The idea was great, even i who don't like that king of game enjoyed playing the first map. But forget about the rest.

Not as pretty and missing a few features from Masters of a Broken World, but much more stable and less of a hardware hog.
In short, a really good game if you like turn based strategy with heroes.

I actually played the sequel before trying this game. I really wanted to like it, but it ended up being a game with great ideas and poor execution. This seems like a simplified version of that, which is mostly good, but still not a much better experience. It is just too difficult to be satisfying for me, but I can see the appeal for some.

A fun TBS in the likeness of King's Bounty and Heroes of Might & Magic III, though nowhere near as deep. You capture cities, build buildings that increase income and the like, buildings that let you recruit better and better units for your personal army, and conquer the enemies on the map.

It's a great TBS, however I recommend Genesis over Masters of the Broken World. It's basically an clunky-er update to Genesis, where other than the newer poorly optimized engine and and clunky UI, they're pretty much the same, so I recommend this cheaper version.

This is a very charming game with a lot of replay value. One of those games you'll forget about for a little while and then come back to hard before having your fill, only to repeat the process over again. It has a little bit of everything. Empire building, economy management, strategy.. but the real fun is in leveling your hero and troops to take on greater and greater challenges in a nicely paced, relaxed but engaging progression. I loved this game when I first played it and now I keep coming back to it. It deserves the praise it gets. I highly recommend it.

Have to give the game a thukmbs up really as for 79p this was a good game.
However, what I would say is that I have played the game for over 3 hours now and haven't really got anywhere!
The game play is good and the ideas are solid but I just don't have the time to play this one any more as do not feel any progression for the amount of play put into the game.
If you like slow paced, grinding games, then give it a go. Good for under a £1.

Very hard, very satisfying. A perfect mix of micromanagement, townbuilding, strategy and RPG elements. Played it for 47 hours here, and probably a 1000 more on GoG. It's so good i fracking bought it twice!

Also, try getting the New Horizons mod, it expands the (already massive game) greatly!

There is something magical about this game. The music hits all the right chords, singing to the heart of a child living in the 90's playing fantasy games for the first time. I have had this game on GoG for a couple of years and have put so many hours into it I don't even know. Even after what is probably hundreds of hours I still find new things and events, the game always throwing something new or different at you. The graphics to me are perfect, might not be everyones cup of tea but don't let that turn you away. The game has a ridiculous amount of depth and strategy which keeps me coming back for more. I bought it here on Steam to help promote it of sorts with a positive review because it deserves it. Anyone that I have suggested or bought this game for has had nothing but positive things to say about it. I know its not much a in-depth review but at its price and noticably positive feedback from others I suggest picking it up and finding out what those who play are talking about.

The game only played in a window mode. I was not able to play in a full screen mode despite all the fixes proposed throughout several Web sites. In addition, there is no tutorial and no user manual. I searched the Internet and found out that a user manual exists but is in Russian (a googled translation is available but not the best). This is very frustrating.

just the best game that was ever made

if you enjoy hard turn based strategy games and can stomach the graphics for a few hours till you fall in love with it there is no better game to buy, even the remake falls short

unfortubately it does not work all that well on modern pcs, you have to actually slow them down in power management for the game to work properly, otherwise I didn't run into any problems

The difficulty is ridiculous and fluctuates, the AI is terrible, it always just targets your weakest unit ignoring everything else in range and it takes way too long to get to the point in the campaign where you can have any variety in your stategy. I really wanted to like this game, it has the potential to be everything anyone could want in a 4x Strategy game but it's shortcomings quickly show and become more and more frustrating.

Edit: All that said I still can't stop playing. So take that for what you will.

I had to stop being patient with this game. The bugs will unfortunately make this game unplayable. I had fun for the first 5-6 hours. Buy at your own risk. This could have been a cool game.

Crashed my computer twice running this game (Windows 8, Intel I7 haswell processor, 4-core dual threaded)

Turns out its because of 2 things:

1 - I had more than one application running (IE I wasn't running JUST Eador)
2 - my computer is too powerful. The only way to solve the animation bugs and the audio stuttering is to put my computer in power saver mode, and underclock the CPU.

The 2nd time my computer crashed, I needed to run a repair on my OS, because it blew it up that spectacularly.

If your computer is a toaster, this is the game for you.

If your computer is worth more than $300, reconsider installing this, because there is the very real chance you will be unable to realistically run this game.

I have zero idea of what the game is like. It loaded to the main screen, and the mouse was frozen. Mouse pad, inop. Key commands, inop. Mouse, inop. I looked at the forum, havng installed thegame on Jun 27, 2015...and saw the same issue reported in Jan 2014! 18 months without fixing the issue?
