The time of mortals is ending, and the reign of Chaos draws ever closer. The Dark Gods are at last united in a singular purpose, losing their madness across the world as never before. In the Empire of Sigmar, Karl Franz's gaze is focused on the incursion of the savage northmen, but it is not the only threat. As the Chaos moon Morrslieb waxes full, shrill voices echo through tunnels gnawed far beneath the Empire's cities, and a Skaven host swarms towards the surface. It emerges first in the city of Ubersreik, a screeching mass that consumes all before it. Soon Ubersreik is a charnel-town, drowning beneath the malevolent shadow of the Horned Rat.

Yet even in the darkest times, there are always champions to light the way. As Ubersreik cowers, five heroes, united by capricious fate, carry the fight to the rat-men. It remains to be seen whether they have the strength to survive, let alone work together long enough to thwart the invaders. One truth, however, is beyond all doubt: should these five fall, then Ubersreik will fall with them.

Basically: Left for Dead (first person shooter with endless waves of enemies) with Warhammer Flavour

Higher emphasis on Melee combat than ranged.

The Good:
- beautiful graphics
- very immersive Warhammer feel
- plays nearly exactly like Left for Dead (get from point A to point B, defend areas, primary weapon, secondary, heal, utility and grenade)
- a game that rewards true teamwork

The Bad:
- low-ish population (altho unlike other games, you only need 3 other good people)
- random loot (you can eventually get what you need, but it'll take a while or super luck) which some people may not be patient enough for
- player hosting (the most annoying thing for me imho; if the host disconnects, the match restarts from the beginning)
- people talk about many bugs and crashes (knock on wood, I haven't encountered any)

It's honest really painful when you get a bad group of players that either don't know what they're doing, are oblivious (and don't watch their back), or are greedy (and run off by themselves). But it's incredibly fun when you get a good group of people.

I always enjoyed playing Expert Realism in L4D2. This game embodies that syle of gameplay while adding weapons, crafting, and a grindy loot system that truly rewards replayability and SKILL.

Awesome game. Refreshing and challenging. Don't need to know anything about Warhammer to have a great time.

Vermintide tells a tale of Triumph and Tragedy, of defiance and survival in a world, drowning in ratlings.

Vermintide: Triumph
Vermintide is a challenging, satisfying cooperative survival game oriented around missions, and set in the end times of the Warhammer setting. The focus upon melee combat and spatial awareness yields an exciting, active experience which you would do well to share with three of your friends. Each of the characters has a distinct personality and style of play, so there is choice without a glut.

Vermintide: Tragedy
At present, there are less than a thousand players online in a given day, though the game has not been out for a full year, and over half a million people have bought it. This is the product of a long, steep difficulty curve. In order to participate, one needs appropriate experience and equipment. Both require time, as rewards are randomized, and their quality limited.

If you enjoy challenging cooperative games, Vermintide is worth your time. The setting and mechanics are novel for the cooperative survival genre, and well paired, with melee heavy combat embedded in dark fantasy. Find a friend or three, and face this doom beneath us!

I like CO-OP games and this game is kinda nice at first look.
This a good game and I've got a lot better since I made this review.

*The review will still remain negative until the next patch (If it get's better ofcourse).*

-The maps have a really good/high replay value
-There is both long and short maps.
-The idea of making it harder for better loot (grimoirs).
-The weapon enchants(?), which is totally RNG so you have to play to get your perfect weapon of choice.
-Many good players
-4/5 of the characters is balanced, except for the Elf which has aimbot.
-You can still play DLC and get DLC loot if you don't own the DLC.

And that's quite the it for the good things.

What I dislike.
-Loot system. It's unfair and stupid. I get better loot most of the time without tomes and grimoirs, RNG is RNG. You can even join a lobby end game and recieve the excact same loot as the people who spent like 30 minutes to carry all the grims and tomes through the map while you just joined and rolled a sweet 7 and got your red aimbot bow while the rest only get a white sword they don't even need. People don't want to play easy until they get full orange sets for all the characters.
-Buggy enemies. Get stuck, hits you through a wall and so on.
-You need friends. It's really hard to play with pubs because the game needs you to stick close to each other and that can be really hard when they run around like headless chickens. Playing on Hard and still haven't finished a map in almost 3 days doesn't make me want to continue this game so much. (Turns out NM is easier than Hard).
-Crashes or DC's.
-Idiotic bots. Do I have to explain why?
-The game is designed so you can't return after certain points on the map. It's really stupid design due to the packmasters and gutter runners who will trap the slow teammember. Or that it leaves out supplies which would be useful within 10 seconds after you enter the "point of no return".
-Friendly Fire. It's a good idea to increase the challenge by adding friendly fire to the game but due to the fact that you have to stay close most of the time, there is a lot of small rooms and the Desync is horrible it can really be annoying to recieve damage so often and maybe even kill one of your teammates even though he was behind you.
-Stuck at loading screen.
-"The game is bug free, you're just a bad player" - The Community

Might add more later.

I hope the next big update will hit soon and do something about some of the thing's I've listed.

Very low amount of content and it's stretched out too much, making it a grind fest when 1 out of 100 runs will give you what you want and every run is exactly the same as before without any variation whatsoever.

I have had a blast playing this game. I started playing because of the similarities to left 4 dead, but there are so many other features unique to this game that have grown on me as I've continued to play. The setting is much more thematic than Left 4 dead. Rolling and getting a new weapon is always kind of fun. The Patrols add an added level of alarm, especially if they show up in a tight hallway, and it makes you feel accomplished if you come out on top from one of their attacks. The uniqueness of each playable character adds a bit of importance to how you play with your team members. I would say the difficulty is a step up from that of Left 4 dead as well. Perhaps the only complaint I really have is with disconnect during game play. it's not a deal-breaker for me, but it can be a pain to be fairly close to completion of a campaign only to have the host disconnect. The community is pretty friendly from my personally experience, and it's fun to be able to share strategies back and forth with other people.

I would recommend not playing on easy your first time through, ultimately easy will probably be harder for you. I don't see much difference in difficulty from easy and Hard, (except for better loot options upon completion in hard.) I would suggest starting at a bit harder difficulty because you will be able to more easily find players willing to join your game. (They want better loot too.) This will help you learn strategies from slightly more seasoned players, and you are more likely to finish the campaign playing with these players.

Take a look and pick it up. Recommended!

Vermintide is basically Left 4 Dead in Warhammer universe. Which is actually great, because I strongly believe L4D was the best cooperative shooter out there, and Warhammer is one of the best settings out there. It doesn't feel like plagiarism too; in fact those who played L4D will be happy to see some familiar interface elements and concepts, while new players will undoubtedly like how simple and clearcut everything is. Plus the gameplay is vastly different since it's mostly based around melee combat and it's pretty good at it.

The very important part is the characters. I actually believe that having more than 4 characters and having different characteristics for them was one thing missing from Left 4 Dead. This feature is implemented very well here, and I actually found all characters very fun to play as.

The game has great atmosphere, created through pretty eye-catching dark visuals and solid acting (one of my favorite parts of the game).

You can upgrade your characters with new equipment, thus providing some variety and randomization, but at the same time there's no need for annoying grinding, and players without good equipment can still be useful, so you don't have to worry about that aspect.

The developers of the game are also pretty great, they take feedback into account and keep providing new content.

Get a move on dori.

It's time to kill some ratmen, so grab your guns and axes and get to slaying.

I dont know very much about this version of warhammer, i know mostly about warhammer 40K.

But anyways, this game is great, however it can be brutally unforgiving at times and holy hell those giant rats are tough.

If you like Left 4 Dead, you will probably like Vermintide. Vermintide takes a lot of the good ideas from Left 4 Dead and adds different characters with unique weapons and character progression.
While the loot system is heavily reliant on RNG, it is still fairly easy to get what you want with a little work at the forge and shine.
With only a dozen or so missions, there is plenty of replayability with multiple difficulty settings and the ability to improve your gear. However, don't try and rush through content.
I would not recommend this game if you are planning on playing alone, while the matching system works perfectly fine, it is much more fun if you can convince some freinds to play with you.

New content soon ("TM") , the last big update was 2 months ago, a DLC that you should buy that includes 3 new challenging maps (and some weapons you can grind out) If you like Left 4 Dead and dark fantasy you will like this game. Pubbing with randoms can be painful at times but the game plays beautifully when you have a decent team. The game is a great mix of melee and ranged combat and the melee combat is pretty well refined with mechanics that feel right. (minus not being able to hold your guard up with a shield + weapon combo while charging up a main hand attack)

Different characters are basically different classes. They all have great voice acting and interactions with each other like Left 4 Dead or Payday: The Heist but on a higher level. They continue to bring the voice actors back to the studio to make more lines. I've spent a ton of hours in game and there are still voice lines I haven't heard. You don't have to be into Warhammer to like this game, but it has a level of detail that never feels cheap.

The game has improved miles since release so don't be disheartened from it's early days.
There's an rng loot system where you don't get ♥♥♥♥ for decent loot if you can't venture the harder difficulties or picking up the health modifiers (grimoires) There are guns, bows, crossbows, wizard staves and a bunch of melee weapons.

I really like this game so far. It reminds me of left4dead but with customizable weapons and different "heroes" you can play. Only complaint is the relatively low player count. But match making works very well when there are people trying to play and allow for people to join my on-going match at anytime.
