About This Game

Thousands of giant insects and aliens once again ravage the earth, and only the Earth Defense Force can stop them. Defend the city of New Detroit against an infestation bigger and meaner than ever before. Destroy these monsters at all costs, even if it means turning entire city blocks into rubble!
Enjoy raw arcade shooter satisfaction on a gigantic modern scale. Collect over 300 weapons: assault rifles, rocket launchers, energy weapons, sniper rifles, grenade launchers and more! Play with 4 upgradeable armor types: Jetpack, Battle, Tactical, and Trooper. Experience Massive replayability through arcade style scoring, tons of weapons to collect, and multiple difficulty levels in every game mode!
In addition, the game also features a six player Survival mode that pits a human squad against a nonstop onslaught of the largest enemies the aliens have to offer. New Detroit’s giant bug problem is unavoidable, and mankind’s last hope lies with the Earth Defense Force. Defend the world from the insect invasion, even if it means blowing up the entire city as part of the extermination process.
Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon and the soldiers are equipped better than ever in the latest cult classic iteration that follows in the footsteps of Earth Defense Force 2017 (Japanese Title “Earth Defense Force 3” developed by Sandlot), and Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon continues the rich history and hardcore fun of the series.

This is a pretty good time if you can get it cheap. It's not a 'real' EDF game as it was outsourced to an entirely different studio halfway across the world but thankfully they understood enough to keep things goofy. The biggest departure from the Sandlot EDFs is this game's modern Western mission structure where it's all waypoints and overt setpieces as well as the odd (infuriating) linear vehicle segment. It kind of made me realize the canon EDFs are a lot better designed than they typically get credit for as they manage to get a lot of these moments to happen organically (like, in IA there will be an anthill and a prompt for you to stick a bomb on after which a counter starts running and you have to deflect waves of insects until it blows. In canon EDF there would just be an anthill with bugs streaming out so you end up deciding for yourself to wade in and destroy it so they'll stop coming. The end result is remarkably similar)

Anyway until one of the proper EDFs gets a PC port this isn't a bad way to scratch that itch.

I love this game its simpleness is it's greatest strength.
You don't have to run around finding ammo, you just reload and go, so all you have to do is stay alive and kick ♥♥♥.
it's a challange to even vertrian gamers, but also easy enough for noobs. at the start anyway.
It'a a TRUE CO-OP game, can be played Solo but it's alot more fun CO-OP.

At level 8 i got a rocket launcher that does 500,000 damage at a Huge radius, i Laugh Out Loud all the time when i use it, it's totaly nuts.

One thing you HAVE to do, is get the "Hacked" .EXE so you can run at 60hz, just google it, trust me its worth it.

I can't wait for "Earth Defence Force 2025" to come to PC, if it ever does. i would buy a few copies in a second if it came to steam.

Imagine if there was a film about stepping on ants, now imagine it's directed by michael bay and the ants are as big as a bus, that is this game.

It's at first like zap zap and zip but then you unlock rank 2 and the monsters get bigger and you realize you can actually destroy the buildings and you accidentally on purpose dodge roll into a spiders ♥♥♥ and get super freaked out and blow it back to kingdom come. Insect Kingdom, come. My love my hate and all of my sorrow.

A small fun gem that only suffers from few missions, few playmodes and being rather obscure. Best is when you have a group of friends who wants to try a new action arcade game together. Not an awardwinner, but it has a good solid framework for fun coop gameplay

This game is so awesome! Shooting giant things with enormous explosions and destructible environments. Just mindless shooting fun. The graphics aren't that great but that keeps the frame rate soled because there's a lot of ♥♥♥♥ going on the screen. I hope EDF 2025 comes to the pc because a lot of people say it's even better! EDF! EDF! EDF! EDF!

To be honest, I have a mixed feelings about this game. It's even hard to convey it in my native language, let alone in English.

On one hand, Insect Armageddon feels like it wanted to give us something huge. Not just huge insect and robots and insect-robots, but also in terms of contents. Huge maps, destroyable building, neat variety of weapons, limited range of classes that compliments each other. But everything fell short. Not to mention you REALLY need to grind to unlock all the weapons, buy them, and fully upgrade the clasess. Everything just end up repetitive as hell. The "story mode" is pretty damn short too. Although that's not really a problem for this type of game since the main point is replayability. But the drive to replaying quickly died down when I'm slogging through same looking maps and same variety of enemies, hunting down mystery weapon boxes hoping 10-20 minutes you're spending would be worthwhile. Even though you could make a meal, go to ATM to pay some bills, clean your laptop or keyboard, write a blog post, shave, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ somewhere, stalk your crush, or simply masturbating to your lovely waifu in those time.

In the end of the day I still enjoyed it, but (while having no expectations in the first place) it's still kinda disappointing. Still, there's not much mindless murder simulator on PC aside from Insect Armageddon and Samurai/Dynasty Warrior. And having alien bugs as enemies does feels pretty refreshing, the only thing that could make this better if there's also bug-space-dinosaur enemies thrown into the mix. Not worth $10 though, but I doubt Bandai Namco would give a f-- I mean, give a price drop for this game. Or for their other "Westernized" game from their franchise on Steam.
I just bought it full price hoping for another PC/Steam release for their games. Preferably the "too-Japanese" one. I mean, Japanese devs with or without the help from small US publishers are starting to flock into this damn DRM platform, right? And they did put a translated rhythm game and one single album to US/International iTunes, right? There is always hope, right? RIGHT?

Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon is the only American game in the series, and so naturally they totally misunderstood the camp and replaced it with HOO-RAH military dickwaving.
That aside, it added a bunch of features that were later totally ripped off by Sandlot in 2025; as expected of the creativity-devoid Japanese. Unfortunately they also added a heap of pointless grinding and forgot to include about 40 or so missions that are clearly missing from the very much unfinished game.

I give Insect Armageddon 4,000 ants shy of a hill.

This is a fantastic example of an underrated game that is still amazing, if just played for the laughs. The story is decently solid, and the dialogue between the seemingly omnipotent "Intel" and "Ops" is hilarious. Overall, EDF: Insect Armageddon is a game that truly deserves its 69 Metacritic score.

Really good game. I recomment it to everyone who likes serious weps and fighting against strong enemyes. the game is teambased and good for having fun with friends. but it would be good if you add ingame chat, expect of voicechat, and let us choose maximum quantity of players, from 1 to 5.
