Great game, remember the original well in the local arcade and megadrive.
Runs lovely but it should really on my rig considering it's a PS3 port?

No crashes on either system I've got it on, runs perfectly.

Only issue was it setting to 30fps on my living room console PC, cured by changing the windowed setting or something and then the 60fps 1080 option appeared.

A really fun and action packed game. Not a great metroidvania game but it is a great action game. It is diificult to figure out what each area does and how they connect.

If you like crashing to desktop, you're gonna love this.

There's a pretty good metroid clone inbetween all the crashes. And the odds of it being fixed seem near zero. I got it for a couple of euros in a bundle but even so, don't waste any amount of money on this. It. Is. Broken.

Thanks Capcom. Another fine mess.

The last few years have seen a flood of retro games in the Mario mold, emphasizing twitch reflexes and perfect gameplay. They're unforgiving races against the clock. They're ... not that fun. (YMMV.)

Strider isn't one of those games. A remake of a Capcom "guy game" classic from the arcades and home systems, Strider rewards creativity and exploration. It feels great with a controller--and I'd only play it with a controller--and true to Metroidvania roots, it's not an "instant death" affair.

I haven't noticed any major bugs or issues, although it slows down sometimes when the screen zooms out to maximum. (Edit: I did have a bug where Hiryu disappeared for a minute or two while riding the Ouroboros. That kinda sucked.) As some have mentioned, this is a short game. I'm only about a couple hours in, but it does seem like it wouldn't take me more than a weekend to beat it.* With that in mind, I'd recommend waiting for a sale rather than buying Strider at full price.

* This was also true of Megaman, Bionic Commando, and other Capcom games.

If you like the original Ninja Gaiden Trilogy, you might get kick of it.

Playing this game on any other difficulty than Hard is a waste of time.

Strider is a fun 5 dollar game. It is a bit short and teh save system can be a bit infuriating. Whenever you see checkpoint flash at the bottom that is not your game actually saving. Still good controls and fun all around.

dear capcom.
this is what the people want.
this is what the people need.
this is what the people deserve.
please never make another bionic commando game.
if you feel like making a platformer, make this.
do not make bionic commando.
when platforming is involved, do not send the bionic commando.
send the strider
he can climb walls and swing swords and all other types of ill ♥♥♥♥.
the bionic commando is some sort of weak bootleg spiderman who isnt strong.
the strider is an elite ninja butt destroyer.
if you need butts destroyed the strider is the obvious choice.
bionic comando cant decimate the amounts of butts in the entire game than the strider decimates in a single level.
god i ♥♥♥♥ing hate bionic command.
but i love the strider.
im going to write the strider on my ballet when i vote this year.
the strider for president 2016.
bionic commando is not fit to pick up my waste and swing it into a dumpster.
if the bionic commando attempted that he would probably just land in a bottomless pit and die
if that happened it would force me to continue from a save point.
that would be dumb, because the strider saves often and swiftly.
i dont even realize when it happens.
what im getting at is, bionic commando sucks.
the strider is a good platformer.
bionic commando is not.
megaman for vice president.
that was good platforming.
the strider is good platforming.
when you press jump the strider and megaman both jump.
the bionic commando does not.
how can i find what you guys were smoking in 1987 and 2008.
i want to find it so i can go out of my way to avoid it.
i will smoke everything capcom has smoked every other year.
except those two years.
because bionic commando sucks, and the strider is the superior platformer.
unless megaman is brought up.
then he wins.
but damn, the strider is a good game.

Strider is a great, fast-paced Metroidvania game that is fun to play. It's a bit on the shorter side (you can complete the game in under 4 hours), and the collectable/"Metroidvania" aspect of the game isn't focused on too deeply. Most of the collectables are within the grasp of where you're supposed to be story-wise, so you never have to veer too far off-path. I I don't think there are any puzzles or any really tricky collectables, so it is missing out on some of the complexity that other games of the same genre have. The combat and how smooth the game plays makes up for it though, in my opinion.

Strider, however, has one major problem. It tends to crash. A lot. My first bits of gameplay were enjoyable, with the game running perfectly fine without any issues whatsoever. As I progressed further into the game, Strider crashed more and more often. I'm not exactly sure why, but it is an issue that other users are havnig as well (there's enough proof of it in the forums). While I've had no problem trying to play through this game constantly crashing (enemies aren't hard to face and it doesn't take too long to progress so it's somewhat manageable), it is definitely annoying (and even impossible if you can't get to the next checkpoint without it crashing).

Although it's an enjoyable game, the constant crashing makes it nearly unplayable. You can still progress, but just hope that you reach the next checkpoint before your game decides to give out on you. I can't recommend it in its current state, and who knows if the devs will ever look into this problem and fix it.

Don't buy unless you either get it in a bundle, or the devs fix it.

I'm sure this game is great if it works for you. The bits I have managed to play are quite good and show promise. Unfortunately, it constantly crashes no matter how I change my settings. Buyer beware.

It's a good action platformer, but it's no Strider.

It's 10 mini-Metroidvania levels that lack all the things that made Strider great - colour, precision, surprise, amazing walljumps, great power-ups (that just don't have to wait all game to unlock)...

But it's playable.

fun game. i like it. lots of fast paced action with searching for power ups (like life boost). All the mandatory power ups come from bosses. Crashed a bunch of times on me which ruined the experience, but overall i enjoyed my experience. No skill tress or other customization. just pure fast paced 2D action

This up front: I have played the old arcade Strider game from long, long ago.

That aside, I still quite enjoy this game. The action is quick and flashy and, most importantly, fun.

It feels and runs like a solid, 2D, action platformer. It gives you upgrades that significantly change gameplay as you go on, throws new enemies at you every major "level", and is, simply, quite fun.

It CAN have its frustrating moments, however. Sometimes it's bad about telling you where you need to go, as sometimes the arrow on the minimap seems to bug out or simply not point in an intuitive direction. There has been a time or two that the game's difficulty jumped up quickly on me for a section out of nowhere.

Despite this, I recommend it, especially if you can snag it on a sale.

Strider was a fast-paced arcade action game with great mobility and awesome boss fights. There were some neat parts in the game were gravity was manipulated causing you to walk on walls and ceilings. The game also had a number of hidden upgrades that encouraged exploration. The final boss fight was nuts.
