Fresh out of the lair of Dreamatrix Game Studios, Legends of Dawn invites players to the brutal northerly reaches of Narr. Survival depends on you, your magic and your sword.
What sets Legends of Dawn apart, is the freedom of play expressed in several key attributes that are rarely seen in typical RPG genres. We have poured our passion and creativity into taking you on an enthralling ride away from wearisome reality, by providing you with the choice to be whatever your heart desires, in Legends of Dawn.

Of course, the choices you make during game play does not prevent you from trying something else later, or simultaneously if you wish. You could combine the sword and the magic, be a powerful crafter or anything else. Legends of Dawn liberates from class restrictions unlike real life. Class, race and differences exist within the game but after choosing your own race and gender, all else can be altered without restarting the game.

Another quality that makes Legends of Dawn interesting, is the freedom of direction and movement. Most games force a player to follow the main storyline and forbid any deviation, or significant veering off the set course. Legends of Dawn is more sympathetic to your playing needs. You are free to wander wherever tickles your fancy within the continent, without limitations, under one condition. Stay alive. We have been careful to ensure that the quests only suggest, rather than impose direction of movement. Your journey is in your hands alone.

In addition to all those remarkable features already mentioned, you are bound to notice another cool thing about Legends of Dawn. The absence of loading screen. It would have been so much easier to create a game that would constantly force you to wait before the screen while new contents load, but Dreamatrix is aware that your time is too valuable to waste. We put our heads together and created our very own engine that discreetly streams content in the background, in real time. You are free to enter houses, caves, dungeons, temples, new regions and so much more, without those pesky loading screens interrupting your playing pleasure.

In order to provide you with such blissful range of possibilities, we had to create a rather large world called Narr. The world of Narr in Legends of Dawn, spans across continents through stunning picturesque landscape that stimulates the mind. There are magical regions where the mountains and hills defy gravity, buoyant as balloons. We have also created countless dungeons awaiting for you to discover what mysteries lie within their cold depths, as well as camps, impressive docks and grim fortresses that bear silent witness to battles. Mausoleums and cemeteries also await your exploration. The hikes over unforgiving mountains and canyons are sure to thrill the most ardent explorer. Graceful flying islands and mystical swamps instil a sense of awe that could nudge you to cross the threshold of the serene temples and shrines to pay your respects to the gods of the land. With so much more on offer than is mentioned here, there is no reason why Legends of Dawn should not become your favourite RPG.

This game hurt me. It's a game I regretfully thumbed up in greenlight and foolishly bought on broken promises and standard expectations. Like functionality.I wrote a review on this in the discussions awhile ago, but noticed we now have a proper review system for games in the store. So here I am to explain to you why this game is not only not worth your time, but why you should be angry at people like me for greenlighting it.

First, we'll start with what the game gets right. It has some pretty nice music. Really good music, actually, that I'd love to get on a CD. And... that's about it.

Nearly every other aspect of this game is either underwhelming, flawed, badly designed, non-sensical, or just plain broken. The biggest issue this game has been suffering, from day 1, is the framerate. It is absolutely unbelievable how wretched it is. I kid you not when I say, the biggest struggle you'll have in this game is walking through town. Just about everywhere you go in this game the framerate is insultingly bad. I don't know whether to attribute it to poor optimization, or the fact that the developers attempted to seamlessly stream the open-world in this game. The only time the framerate wasn't an issue was in dungeons.

The game is hack/slash, but is so underwhelming that it's almost not even worth mentioning. The animations are terrible. There is no impact on your weapon. Enemies feel unbalanced because the progression and pacing in this world is terrible. The only thing kind of cool about combat are the spells (which you can make, like a fireball or acid ball), which do feel impactful. Unfortunately, the effects themselves look like something ripped out of a game from the 90's. They are HIDEOUS! The monsters were also fairly unimpressive, with only a few standing out here and there (like the tree monsters).

Quests are boring, unemmorable, and sometimes not clearly layed out or explained for you. There are no interesting people in this game. I can not remember a single name from any of the npcs, or MY character for that matter. If there's a main plot, it seems to get lost at some point. The whole purpose of the game seems to be to explore every single inch of the world to find artifacts to reforge The Dawn (no, I still don't know if it's some kind of physical artifact or abstract idea of enlightenment), to save the world from... uhhh... darkness? The game really doesn't do a good job of explaining wtf is going on. Voice acting is terrible and rarely there. There are no npc companions of any sort, making the whole game feel like a lonely experience. Oh, and there's no interesting loot.

The game is full of non-sensical design choices that are either there to waste your time or ♥♥♥♥ you off. Your inventory is too small. Not because loot fills up quickly in your inventory (which it does), but because you have to devoute 1/3 or even more of it to these runes that you use to open up chests in this ridiculous mini-game that requires you have the runes in order to open the chest, which makes the keys in the game worthless and makes me question the sanity of everyone in this world who uses these runes to lock their chests. Water kills you if you walk too deep into it. Apparently your character is such an incompetent soldier that they can't swim a few feet back to shore. Traps in dungeons can be dangerous in the beginning of the game, but just became minor nuisances. Some of them are unavoidable, and others are literally there just to waste your time. When I had a cage drop on me, I thought I was getting captured by a villain or something and waited a whole minute for something to happen. Turns out the door on the cage could just be opened without anything. Does that make ANY sense to you? The most annoying design choice, however, has to be the traveling. There is no fast travel, and this game is fairly big in terms of size. So getting around is padding in itself. Also, no tutorial. The devs demand players look at the manual, which I find downright silly in a modern game.

Oh, and this will make you laugh. I reinstalled the game a second time after I quit on my first attempt to play it all the way through just so I could give a full review of the game. Guess what? IT DIDN'T SAVE! I had to start all over again!

Legends of Dawn was marketed as an oldschool rpg with no handholding; a concept I was too young to appreciate, but wasn't curious about. What I found was terrible game design/optimization; a boring story (if there was ever one to begin with); and that I was robbed 27 hours of my life at the end. The game was so bad and broken that I just couldn't bring myself to go all the way through. Game sits on a 1/10, with perhaps a chance to get a 2 or 3 when (if ever) it is fully optimized; and that's me being generous. It is a game that completely wastes everyone's time. You can get way better rpgs for less if you look around. Avoid this title, or send it as a gift to your worst enemies on steam. I, for one, am done with it.

I wanted to like this game. I wanted to like it so badly. But Legends of Dawn seems to go out of it's way to make itself both unlikable and unplayable. I could have been a good game, but horrible controls, bad camera angles and a mostly empty landscape make it simply not fun. I hate giving negative reviews on anything, but if I can spare someone wasting their money on this one, it's worth it to me.

I am suprised that I am taking the time to write a review for this game. However, when trawling for a new RPG I spotted that this in the list on specials and felt I should warn any prospective purchasers. The screen shots and descriptions make this look like a superb example of the genre; it certainly suckered me and quite frankly, it is bl00dy awful. There is a steam score now to assist you whereas there wasn't when I purchased. Frankly, 29 is too high and if this was in PC Zone (for those that remember said mazine before it merged with PC Gamer), it would get the 'pump' award...I just wish zero punctuation would review that would be worth the money!

dont get this game its really bad how well i got it when it was early access and one thing the creators on the web site really talked about was how the combat system was unique and different from others
seeing as how combat is most of the game this sounded very good however in the game the combat is very boring you click on the monster with your cusor and your character swings his weapon thats it sometimes you miss sometimes you hit
there is no special attacks none! and thats it for combat

when i went to the forums to talk about the fact that the creators had lied about game play and combat in game
i was told this game just wasnt for me i wasnt the right type of person to enjoy the game and i just couldnt figure it out because i was dumd and used to being spoon feed information ???

also another thing the dev's braged about was that you could create your our spells for fighting monsters
so far i cant create one spell i think it is buged or something

one thing that was neat but sadly doesnt work either is that the creaters thought it would be interesting if you opened locked chests with runes, to do this clicking on the chest opens a mini map and you create a path in the map with matching rune so far i have found 20 runes and 10 chests i have yet to open one chest :P

its really kind of sad this game is so bad the graphics are really nice if there was more work on combat, different races character creation, game play and more options or fine tuning it could had been good

Do not buy this game, no matter what they say!

All the pictures you see on Steam give you a impression that the game is good, but it's not. The story is bad, the design choices were bad, controls are bad. Even if it weren't bad, it would still be boring.

There are no pros, only cons. This game shouldn't ever be released. There is an infinite number of patches, which means the game wasn't ready when released.

This game is not worth it even if it were free
