Changelog - Tuesday, October 14th

Hotfix, Build #29871

• More AI tweaks.
• Units that were previously breaking the deployment grid (namely the Hover Platform and Supply Drop) now require a double-click in order to deploy. There are some visual issues remaining (particularly with Hover Platform) but the actual functionality should work now.
• Some map tweaks.
• Icons for some units may require a double-click to make them disappear, but they should disappear after the unit starts the animation of the attack.

About This Game

The year is 1947. The world lies ravaged by war. Align yourself with one of six warring factions and fight for global domination in a world where borders rapidly shift as battles are won and lost.

This is March of War. An online turn-based strategy game set in a dieselpunk world where strategy and firepower rule the day. Take command and lead your army into 3D battlefields that allow you to assess the war-zone from every angle. Deploy a wide range of vehicles, infantry and artillery where their specific weapons can be most effective.

Destroy your enemies and capture their territory to advance through the ranks of your faction. Rise high enough and you’ll have the honour of joining your faction’s High Command, or perhaps even be voted Faction Leader. Achieving High Command or Faction Leader status expands the game into an intricate web of political allegiances and betrayals, where your decisions directly influence the course of the war as you strive to lead your faction to global domination.

    Key Features Include

  • Tactical warfare - Play smart and dirty to conquer this war-torn dieselpunk world.
  • Choose what you fight for - The six factions are very distinct. Who will you be loyal to?
  • Multiplayer gameplay - Players are waiting worldwide. Join a co-op or PvP and march on.
  • Start your own fights – Skirmish lets you set up custom battles for a new challenge or just for fun.
  • Realistic 3D battlefields – Watch the fireworks as your forces clash with the enemy across landscapes ranging from jungles to deserts.
  • A mix of classic and exotic units - Will a Sherman tank stand up to a Warbeast?
  • Between battles – Build up your army, form battle groups, and research new weapons and abilities.

I've played every faction and was very involved from the start. The game had a huge potential to be a great strategy, but it was never fully realized.

I would like to clarify, the game is COMPLETELY FREE! You get better stuff as you play with in-game currency. As in every other normal game. It is NOT a p2w. If you want to get stuff right away you can use real cash, but it is very unnecessary.

I've noticed that the community can vary depending on what faction you play, but they're mostly friendly. Also, you can make two characters of different nations, and once you complete the research tree on one character (fully level him up) you are rewarded with extra character slot so you can explore more of the game. And i have, as you can see by the hours i've put into it.

I've loved the game and the politics and the fanatics and the smart, intelligent conversations alongside the trolls, the spies, the traitors, the jingos and the crybabies. You play long enough, pay attention to world and faction chats and you get to see it all. I've laughed and cried with this game.

Now, you're probably wondering why I don't recommend the game? Let's see:

+Diverse 6 factions with a variety of units and playstyles.
+Responsive and helpful dev staff.
+Politics could sometimes be fun, if you're into that kinda stuff.
+A true f2p, you don't need to spend a penny to enjoy it.
+Beautiful icons with oil-painting feel to them.

But then:

-3D models are very basic and cube-y (you know how in Company of Heroes you can zoom in and see details like the soldier's shoelaces or facial expressions? Well, in MoW they look like minecraft faces.)
-Buggy, glitchy and annoying, the numerous issues are well known and they have still not been addressed.
-The game is very ugly even on ultra settings, which would have been something i can overlook for the gameplay - this game would've looked good maybe ten years ago.
-The gameplay gets boring and repetitive to the point of becoming an endless grindfest.
-No events or story line or anything to keep you coming back. There were some, but no more.
-No reason to hold territories whatsoever, no bonus or anything. (Soviet Australia, anyone?)
-Poorly matched pvp, being second is a serious handicap. so you lose.
-Master battles are screwed by the latest update (Oct 14, 2014) - The computer spams its best units early game, so you lose.
-Boring, monotonous battles - once you learn the layout of the few maps, every battle goes the exact same way.
-All the animations are very poorly done - an attacking unit gets side-skewed for attack, while the victim takes it stoically - he is undeserving of animation.
-The lack of money when developing this game becomes painfully evident when you hear the 2-3 tracks that pass for music and the absolutely horrendous voice acting.
-Most units have 1 rather unimaginative skill.
-No player skill tree, no customization, no upgrades of anything, no retainment of units, no unit experience.

Unless all these numerous issues have been dealt with, I wouldn't strongly recommend it. If you like war games try Company of Heroes. If you like the turn-based strategy get X-COM.

You can deffinitely try it and have some free fun, just don't say I didn't warn you!

I recommend this game only to people who are patient and like to take things slow. Here's why.
Pros:
1) Unique factions with unique units.
2) Simple and easy to play, but learning curve is a bit steep.
3) Helpful and friendly community.
4) Great tutorial, complete with videos and FAQs.
5) Helpful and responsible development team always tending to player needs.

Cons:
1) Has a number of bugs and glitches that sometimes affect matches.
2) Many maps favour the player that has first move. Near impossible to win as 2nd
3) Moderate amount of grind.

This game starts out rough, you need to find the tutorial (Question mark button) and learn the basics slowly. Tactics and other features might need you to ask other players and learn from them ( Highly advised). This part is especially important, when you start out, DO NOT GO TO PVP. Almost none of the low leveled players jump right into pvp, thus most of these low leveled pvpers get matched to higher leveled players. Needless to say, they don't win much. Many players have complained about this and posted negative reviews on this, when it is entirely thier fault. When starting out it is advised to grind pve matches until level 18-20. This game is really bumpy when you start out but once you level up and unlock all the units available, it gets really enjoyable. If you are willing to grind for a bit and like games that get more fun over time, this is a good game for you. Hope this helps, this is after all my first review.

Garbage, money hungry bogas games to suck the money out of kids. This game is complete garbage. Pay to win, fun at first but pretty much Just cheSs with gun attached. You could spend up to 1:20 minutes every turn waiting for an oppenet to make a move. If you'rE Winning you better prepare to wait a long time. If this was an RTS it would most likely be worth while but it just not.

Game is noob. When is in beta version and it was good to play but now with the update making npc battles even to difficult. Your start with limited resources while the npc start with double resources and kill you at the 4th turn. The game modes assault, blitz and siege is not much choice. Pvp battles you meet unbalance matchmaking. This game has made a good start when is in beta and then it become bad with every new update. Pros: free game and easy to play. Cons: no anticheat, bugs, votescam on factionleaders, unbalance pvp battle. This game deserve 6/10 and is not worth to play. I see other RTS games which is better then March Of War in gameplay. The positieve reviews are from MOW veterans and friends of the MOW creators to promote this game.

The matchmaker in this game, like many others really ruins the game. At a low lvl im constantly fighting lvl 30's and then once im in the 20's im constantly fighting lvl 1-10's. Also most of the maps are so small you win based on who goes first no skill.

The basic concept is interesting, gameplay is interesting and deep, various factions offer several approach. It would have been a cool take on turn by turn strategy game if...

... the business model wasn't based on you buying every single unit with cash (in game or real) before being able to deploy them.
i.e. If you have access to a new type of tank, you'll have to buy it before being able to field it. And if you bought it once, you'll be able to field it once. So far, no problem. But if that tank gets destroyed, you'll have to "resupply", or buy it again. It takes 4 to 6 games to buy ONE tier 2 units. Meaning that any loss in a fight will prevent you from developping your army for the next 4-10 games (depending on how advanced/expensive the unit was).
Worst, there is a cool idea of "action/strategy card" you can play in that game. Bonuses for you to buy whenever you want with dedicated ressources. Those are limited also, and using them is for good (if you have 3 "Kamikaze charge" and use one, you'll only have 2 left for any following next battle, unless you are lucky when getting your rewards or if you buy it again.
Over time, the grind only serve to make you "build back" what you lose, instead of allowing you to develop something long term.

Cool game, destroyed by a shop that's a bit too aggressive.

So this game has a cool concept but a bad execution. I played a good bit of matches and more pvp than pve and well to be honest the only units really used are tanks, and they're overpowered. I'm a good strategist and I love rts games but if you like varied units and rich complex strategy this game is NOT for you. A standard match basicly consists of you spawn in spawn a couple of soldiers, enemy spanws in spawns a couple of tanks with ridiculous hp damage and range. You try to kill said tanks, you die because the maps are ill designed to set up traps and do anything but basicly walk head on into said tank and get ruined. I've honestly been in games where my enemy spawns 8 tanks by round 6 and i cant do anything about it because they basicly cost as much as an elite soldier and are 4x as effective. The other crappy part of game is grinding for probably a week straight at least 6 hours a day to buy enough tanks to even stand a chance which really sucks. I had high hopes for this game but they should really just rename it to tankfest, because thats all it really is.

I only played PvE, due to starting out and not really wanting to get destroyed after hearing that you can get matched with anyone that has all units and a massive advantage. At first, the game was fairly easy but progressively got harder, i noticed that changing the difficulty option doesnt do much, apart from better AI decision making in some cases, i also noticed that the game got harder as you levelled up, not with the difficulty setting. I noticed that the AI was having a ♥♥♥♥-ton of tanks and no limit on grenadiers and such, irritating, and put me off playing this game. I didn't like how you start with little gold, meanwhile the PvE enemy has 7 tanks that onehit your current tank, a limitless ammount of anti vehicle units, and anti - infantry. Was frustrating, especially as soviet faction at the start doesnt have any long range vehicle counters, apart from the truck, which gets one-hit anyway straight afterwards. Tanks we're difficult to deal with as rpg units got demolished instantly, and there was a support truck giving them 50 percent extra armor which made it impossible to do anything. This is just handicapping the player, and should be changed so that you get even resources. The only way to make the game easier is to spend money on it, which im not planning to do.

Aside from that, the faction system seems to apply a decent boost, some percentages that aren't having that high impact. The maps are quite good, i enjoyed the gamemodes, siege especially. The menus weren't good because they lacked music and felt empty.

I'd love to play this when its more updated, its fairly simple with its mechanics, but that still allows for depth in play, also i wish it wasn't giving the people who pay for it a big advantage as it does, that really puts me off.

The game is a bit monotonous. Additionally, I suspected there was some hacking of the game going on which was confirmed through some obvious unruly behavior. Since the game is numerically based, you can estimate the maximum number of units a player should have, so obvious hacking is possible to spot. It ruins the game, really. Moving on to something else.

This game is unplayable for me. When i click to move units the game will glitch out and cause me to not be able to end turn or move units. I then restart to have the save problem happen. Id reccomend this game if it wasnt so glitchy, but its glitchy, so i dont reccomend you infect your hard drive with this.

boring.

you grind to unlock units. to win games you hold points, this lets you requisition more units you have availible at the point, and generates one of 3 types of in-match currency used to requisition the various unlocked (and purchased) units. wining games gives you a small amount of money (to buy multiples of (new) units) and some small amount of reaserch to unlock new units/unit abilities.

the units play out kinda like rock paper sissors. example: most faction's spammable unit (the one that is unlimited and thus used as meatshields/scouts) cant do anything vs vehicles.

this kind of thing has been done to death. its not overly bad, but in no way anything new.

Let me start by saying this game is fun. I enjoy this game, though briefly, I enjoyed it. This game has potential. It is fun but hard to get into. The UI is lackluster and hard to understand. There is really not a good tutorial to get you into the game and it's mechanics. The community playing this game is nearly non existant it seems. Fun, but doesn't harness it's true potential and gets old VERY fast.

The idea of the game is good, however; the way that the NPC in the PVE, cheats, is extremely annoying and frustrating, and due to the limited amount of variations to the maps that the actual fighting happens, the gameplay gets repetitive and boring very fast, neither the factions nor their units are balanced out very well either which adds to the frustration... The PVP balancing is funny at best also matching lvl5's with lvl30's....

So I really wouldn't recommend this game at all, if you want to play something longer than a week or so that is.

The multiplayer concept is very interesting. The community is great. The strategy itself is nothing new and innovative, but is still very fun.
The biggest problems in this game is it's stability and in-game unit balance. The game crashes often, is very laggy and that is what ruins the experience.

Enjoyed it until I got bored of the PvE (took maybe 10 battles) and switched to the PVP
Will be matched in PVP against much higher levels who have had time to unlock way better units, and the money to buy them.
The only counter to this of course is to pay real money for gems to unlock units at a much faster rate. However the amount of gems per unit unlock is highly expensive. PVE is boring and predictable, PVP is pay to win. A shame. If they had a way to balance the PVP would have been better.

This game is not free2play if you want to play Co-op.
Also, the elite players all get their names displayed on the map menu, sooooo they all feel very entitled and flip ♥♥♥♥ if you "disrespect" them in any way. "Do you even know who I am?? Check the leaderboards and get out of world chat, ♥♥♥♥♥! "
Sheesh..
It's a great game if you're playing alone, but I'm going to have to downvote it because I only got a day's worth of play out of it before it asked my friend and I to pay money for "co-op battleslots"

The people need to know!

this is a solid staragy game about a 6/10. the PROs to march of war. Its nice to see that every faction has its own strengths and weakness. coop is in the game so you can go and crush your enmies balls under foot and nail. The pvp is nice and intense for me Each faction can also pick its own leaders that can determine where to attack or if need be call for peace if the leaders do nothing the games ai will then pick up the slack. last pro that i can think of is that it's free. Cons/ buggy, the turn base can get stale after some time playing. The game also seems to encourge certain rivelers between factions and to never give up the fight till there gone. To name one the juanta and my fellow United Republicans fought non stop for about 3 weeks over the control of central America. Till a peace treaty was signed but now were back at. to some this may be a pro but it just gets dull fight the same guys over and over and in a rivler in perfer a person i can take on more than once if they prove worthy of my skillz
