About This Game

The year is 1947. The world lies ravaged by war. Align yourself with one of six warring factions and fight for global domination in a world where borders rapidly shift as battles are won and lost.

This is March of War. An online turn-based strategy game set in a dieselpunk world where strategy and firepower rule the day. Take command and lead your army into 3D battlefields that allow you to assess the war-zone from every angle. Deploy a wide range of vehicles, infantry and artillery where their specific weapons can be most effective.

Destroy your enemies and capture their territory to advance through the ranks of your faction. Rise high enough and you’ll have the honour of joining your faction’s High Command, or perhaps even be voted Faction Leader. Achieving High Command or Faction Leader status expands the game into an intricate web of political allegiances and betrayals, where your decisions directly influence the course of the war as you strive to lead your faction to global domination.

    Key Features Include

  • Tactical warfare - Play smart and dirty to conquer this war-torn dieselpunk world.
  • Choose what you fight for - The six factions are very distinct. Who will you be loyal to?
  • Multiplayer gameplay - Players are waiting worldwide. Join a co-op or PvP and march on.
  • Start your own fights – Skirmish lets you set up custom battles for a new challenge or just for fun.
  • Realistic 3D battlefields – Watch the fireworks as your forces clash with the enemy across landscapes ranging from jungles to deserts.
  • A mix of classic and exotic units - Will a Sherman tank stand up to a Warbeast?
  • Between battles – Build up your army, form battle groups, and research new weapons and abilities.

I've played every faction and was very involved from the start. The game had a huge potential to be a great strategy, but it was never fully realized.

I would like to clarify, the game is COMPLETELY FREE! You get better stuff as you play with in-game currency. As in every other normal game. It is NOT a p2w. If you want to get stuff right away you can use real cash, but it is very unnecessary.

I've noticed that the community can vary depending on what faction you play, but they're mostly friendly. Also, you can make two characters of different nations, and once you complete the research tree on one character (fully level him up) you are rewarded with extra character slot so you can explore more of the game. And i have, as you can see by the hours i've put into it.

I've loved the game and the politics and the fanatics and the smart, intelligent conversations alongside the trolls, the spies, the traitors, the jingos and the crybabies. You play long enough, pay attention to world and faction chats and you get to see it all. I've laughed and cried with this game.

Now, you're probably wondering why I don't recommend the game? Let's see:

+Diverse 6 factions with a variety of units and playstyles.
+Responsive and helpful dev staff.
+Politics could sometimes be fun, if you're into that kinda stuff.
+A true f2p, you don't need to spend a penny to enjoy it.
+Beautiful icons with oil-painting feel to them.

But then:

-3D models are very basic and cube-y (you know how in Company of Heroes you can zoom in and see details like the soldier's shoelaces or facial expressions? Well, in MoW they look like minecraft faces.)
-Buggy, glitchy and annoying, the numerous issues are well known and they have still not been addressed.
-The game is very ugly even on ultra settings, which would have been something i can overlook for the gameplay - this game would've looked good maybe ten years ago.
-The gameplay gets boring and repetitive to the point of becoming an endless grindfest.
-No events or story line or anything to keep you coming back. There were some, but no more.
-No reason to hold territories whatsoever, no bonus or anything. (Soviet Australia, anyone?)
-Poorly matched pvp, being second is a serious handicap. so you lose.
-Master battles are screwed by the latest update (Oct 14, 2014) - The computer spams its best units early game, so you lose.
-Boring, monotonous battles - once you learn the layout of the few maps, every battle goes the exact same way.
-All the animations are very poorly done - an attacking unit gets side-skewed for attack, while the victim takes it stoically - he is undeserving of animation.
-The lack of money when developing this game becomes painfully evident when you hear the 2-3 tracks that pass for music and the absolutely horrendous voice acting.
-Most units have 1 rather unimaginative skill.
-No player skill tree, no customization, no upgrades of anything, no retainment of units, no unit experience.

Unless all these numerous issues have been dealt with, I wouldn't strongly recommend it. If you like war games try Company of Heroes. If you like the turn-based strategy get X-COM.

You can deffinitely try it and have some free fun, just don't say I didn't warn you!

I recommend this game only to people who are patient and like to take things slow. Here's why.
1) Unique factions with unique units.
2) Simple and easy to play, but learning curve is a bit steep.
3) Helpful and friendly community.
4) Great tutorial, complete with videos and FAQs.
5) Helpful and responsible development team always tending to player needs.

1) Has a number of bugs and glitches that sometimes affect matches.
2) Many maps favour the player that has first move. Near impossible to win as 2nd
3) Moderate amount of grind.

This game starts out rough, you need to find the tutorial (Question mark button) and learn the basics slowly. Tactics and other features might need you to ask other players and learn from them ( Highly advised). This part is especially important, when you start out, DO NOT GO TO PVP. Almost none of the low leveled players jump right into pvp, thus most of these low leveled pvpers get matched to higher leveled players. Needless to say, they don't win much. Many players have complained about this and posted negative reviews on this, when it is entirely thier fault. When starting out it is advised to grind pve matches until level 18-20. This game is really bumpy when you start out but once you level up and unlock all the units available, it gets really enjoyable. If you are willing to grind for a bit and like games that get more fun over time, this is a good game for you. Hope this helps, this is after all my first review.

The matchmaker in this game, like many others really ruins the game. At a low lvl im constantly fighting lvl 30's and then once im in the 20's im constantly fighting lvl 1-10's. Also most of the maps are so small you win based on who goes first no skill.

Just been looking through the other reviews for March of War and some of the 'Not Recommended' ones make me facepalm so hard.

First off, I would like to point out that I have been playing this game since the very day it came out in Early Access. And the fact I am still here proves that it is worth playing :P

I would also like to say that through my whole time of playing the game, I havent spent a single bit of money. NOT ONE. Those who say this is highly Pay To Win may be right in some ways but I have reached as high as you can go in this game, without paying any money whatsoever. Everything can be done completely free. If anything, 'Wallet Warriors' (Those who do P2W) are despised by many people within the MoW community, more so by those who, like me, did everything legit.

Thirdly, as I have seen other Reviews saying this game is bad because the PvP matchmaking is terrible (Which they're right, the matchmaking has always been bad and will be for a very long time probably.) and that 'grinding' PvE matches against the AI is the only way to go, atleast until you are around level 20 where you do stand a bit of a chance against even the highest level players.. It's true. Okay, lets get this out there now - If you are thinking of PvPing, this game is NOT for you unless you are prepared to fight (sometimes repetetive) against the AI all the time, like most people do. (PvE is the main way to win the overall territories within the game anyways)

For the people who enjoy strategy games and turn-based games this is probably a game you will love if you give it enough time and can get over the constant grindfest. I know this sounds a lot like a 'bad' Review for the game, but I assure you, I fully recommend this game. It's free. It's fun. Get it!

[If you do get this game,I suggest you join the European Alliance since it's the best Faction :P (Warning: I am being very biased here!) ENJOY AND WELCOME TO MARCH OF WAR!]

Great graphics, great sound quality, lots of customization and great gameplay . Though it is repetitive and a little buggy-ish, I don't mind them as long as this is playable and fun to play and has WW2 warfare-like theme. 8/10

This game is OK and has a potential, but there are severl things that screw everything up. First, is its total dependance on grinding. Lots and LOTS of grinding. Then comes Disbalance of units. Yes, developers and some gamers say that there is balance, but there is not, I can write lots of examples. Graphics is too heavy for the picture, animations are bad (like infantry shooting everywhere except targets) and PVP matchmaking. putting new players against old hardcore players is not quite fair. Anyway, this game needs lots to work on. Territories could give bonuses, low players playing against low players only, less grinding. Fun poilitical system though.

Garbage, money hungry bogas games to suck the money out of kids. This game is complete garbage. Pay to win, fun at first but pretty much Just cheSs with gun attached. You could spend up to 1:20 minutes every turn waiting for an oppenet to make a move. If you'rE Winning you better prepare to wait a long time. If this was an RTS it would most likely be worth while but it just not.

This is my in-depth review after playing with every faction in the game, not only there are 6 factions to choose from, but there is also politics involved, I'll just point out the pros and cons of every faction so people looking at this can just play the game for fun or for political reasons. The opinion about being High command can vary, ranging from being a political patriot to a rogue traitor or spy. I'll write my long story short versions of each faction.

United Republic (North America): This faction, aimed at having good-various kinds of aircraft and artillery while being moderate in most departments.

European Alliance (All of Europe and Australia/New zealand): This faction, has average infantry but in return, very nice tanks and toys. This is also the biggest faction in the game player base wise, making their high command the hardest to get into.

Soviet Union: This faction has below average infantry, in return not only they get great walkers, but also one of the best aircraft in the game. The walkers require no deployment and can fire at the players will/desire, propoganda is also used to boost unit firepower :).

Shogun Empire (All of asia and most of the islands): This faction is one of the two infantry based factions, not only does it have paper tanks (except for the akuma class land battleship), it also specializes in being a fire happy/lover faction.

The Latin Junta (All of South and central America): The 2nd infantry based faction, unlike the shogun empire, junta vehicles are expensive and while some may be paper, other units not so much. This faction also specializes in toxic and chemical warfare, while they have good infantry, drawback is the infantry are frail.

African Warlords (All of africa and middle east): The beast faction, this soley focuses on being a beast specialist and improvised vehicles and weapons, even an improvised aircraft. The biggest thing that stands out here is the warlords "overlord" beast unit. If you like animals, this is the faction to join.

Conclusion: The faction units change (By the unit balancing department by the devs) every month or so. No matter who you join, each faction will have its pros and cons, as well as different communities (and political parties).

Can find me ingame by the name Aceman if you wish to reach me ^^

I have played this for long enough to come to a judgement if this game is a good or bad F2P, to be honest, the game is a great F2P experience but with the odd glitch or two and rubbish matchmaking that ruins the flow of gameplay.
This F2P has to be one of the few on steam that isn't P2W and a community that isn't a bunch of 8 year olds screaming at you in the chat. The game is an alternate 1940's with a dieselpunk theme with 6 unique factions both with strengths and weaknesses so no faction is overpowered and no faction is underpowered. The six factions are.
United Republic - North America, take a look at America in WW2 and some canadian units
Latin Junta - South America, Viva la revoultion, Che Guereva styled
African Warlords - Africa and Middle East - Outdated tech but strong with animals/beasts
Soviet Union - Self Explanatory
European Alliance - Self Explanatory again
Shogun Empire - Asia - Samurai and Japan in WW2
Also the game gets regular updates and the devs are very active, there is also a certain group of people who monitor the chat and will help if you ask something (This Game has an heavy moderation system on chat) and the community is nice and friendilly and treat new players with respect.
If your into turnbased strategy and want an online focus with an interactive map that can change with your contributions for your faction and if you ignore the glitches and the crappy matchmaking this is great.
Game gets an 8 from Hen.

Fun game til you reach level 20, then it goes from quick fun battles to long drawn out battles where the computer has limitless numbers of the highest tier units. Siege was my favorite style of play pre 20 where 3-5 spots would spawn 2 units each. After 20 they spawn 3 each and its units so powerful it takes the combined might of everything you have to put down 1 of the 3.

I would reccomend this game but only until your toon reaches level 20. After 20 i found it rather unenjoyable since i have access to very few of the units the cpu is using and some like the Pyro version of Soviet Unions hammer, you wont have access to at all.

This game is terrible. Please don't even download this game. It is hardly a strategy game. Don't even give the developers the pleasure of knowing that someone downloaded this game. There is no strategy and the AI spawns random unites across this map. I would rather stare at poop all day than play this game for 10 minutes. Leave it alone.

The basic concept is interesting, gameplay is interesting and deep, various factions offer several approach. It would have been a cool take on turn by turn strategy game if...

... the business model wasn't based on you buying every single unit with cash (in game or real) before being able to deploy them.
i.e. If you have access to a new type of tank, you'll have to buy it before being able to field it. And if you bought it once, you'll be able to field it once. So far, no problem. But if that tank gets destroyed, you'll have to "resupply", or buy it again. It takes 4 to 6 games to buy ONE tier 2 units. Meaning that any loss in a fight will prevent you from developping your army for the next 4-10 games (depending on how advanced/expensive the unit was).
Worst, there is a cool idea of "action/strategy card" you can play in that game. Bonuses for you to buy whenever you want with dedicated ressources. Those are limited also, and using them is for good (if you have 3 "Kamikaze charge" and use one, you'll only have 2 left for any following next battle, unless you are lucky when getting your rewards or if you buy it again.
Over time, the grind only serve to make you "build back" what you lose, instead of allowing you to develop something long term.

Cool game, destroyed by a shop that's a bit too aggressive.

As much as I like the Dieselpunk, Red Alert style asthetic, the game's a bit stale. Takes too long to get anything cool, and the combat, while fun is repetitive.

Would be better served as an RTS title in the same universe, honestly.

It's worth a bit of your time, but not that much.

(And yes, you can buy your way to the top units and stuff, but it's not like you can't grind to them anyway. It's pay to get good stuff now, not pay2win.)
