Strike Suit Infinity is a frantic high score chaser where your skill is the only thing that matters. Whatever combat experience you have had so far is considered irrelevant. There is no end to the enemies you will face. There is no winning. There is only the fight for survival.

Take to the cockpit of one of three Strike Suits, engaging waves of enemies, building your multiplier and putting as many points on the board as possible. You’ll need to use your head, though. In between rounds, use credits to purchase upgrades and reinforcements, maximizing your potential in the next round. The longer you can stay alive, the bigger your score, and the higher up the leaderboard you’ll find yourself.

Engage intelligent enemy fighters and take on colossal capital ships, exploiting weak points in their super-structure to blow them apart piece by piece. Upgrade your Strike Suit and customize your weapon load-outs to tailor combat to your tastes. Take advantage of three very different Strike Suits to experience dogfighting action as you’ve never seen it before.

Key Features

  • Fast, frantic space combat: freely engage multiple enemies, dogfight other pilots and fight massive fleet battles.
  • The Strike Suit: strategically switch from Pursuit Mode (speed and power) to Strike Mode (a powerful, highly maneuverable combat mode).
  • It’s all about your score – build your multiplier, take down waves of enemy as fast as you can, and race to the top of the leaderboard.
  • Manage your strategy – use credits in between rounds to purchase upgrades and reinforcements for the next round.
  • Capital Ship Destruction: take capital ships apart piece by piece – take out their turrets and target weak-points to blow out entire sections of their superstructure.
  • Ship Designs from renowned Mechanical Design engineer Junji Okubo (Appleseed: Ex Machina, Steel Battalion).
  • Music from award-winning sound designer Paul Ruskay (Homeworld) including a collaboration with Japanese singer/songwriter Kokia (Tales of Innocence, Gunslinger Girl: II Teatrino) and Subsource.
  • Joystick compatible: as well as being fully optimized for mouse and keyboard, and gamepads, Strike Suit Infinity is compatible with a range of joysticks for full immersion.
  • Vicious new enemy types
*DOES NOT REQUIRE STRIKE SUIT ZERO TO PLAY*

Quick Summary: If you loved Strike Suit Zero so much that you wanted more of the same, but without a campaign story, then Strike Suit Infinity is for you. Infinity is more like an arcade game than its predecessor, and your goal is to get as high a score as possible in each level, usually by killing everything as fast as possible.

You play a pilot in the United Nations of Earth (just like in Strike Suit Zero) but instead saving the galaxy, you’re just going through missions in a simulator, one after another. For each level (called “rounds” in the game) you need to kill all the fighters, bombers, and corvettes that they throw at you and survive the capital ships (frigates, cruisers, carriers) long enough for them to jump out. If you manage to do that, you’ve “beaten” the level and the next one unlocks. For each level you beat, you get some credits that you can spend on reinforcements for the next. For example beating level 1 might give you 5000 credits that you can spend buying fighter support for level 2. Note that once level 2 is over, any fighters you bought disappear, so you don’t want to buy reinforcements unless you think you’ll need them. If you don’t buy them and get overwhelmed though… game over. You can choose to start over at the higher level but you don’t get all the extra credits from beating the earlier levels. For example if you choose level 10 to start, you might start the game with 20,000 credits, but if you had worked your way up from level 1 and carefully saved your money you might have 50,000 credits by level 10. Also, I mentioned that you only need to survive long enough for the capital ships to escape in order to beat a level, but if you want more credits/higher score you’ve gotta blast them all.

As for the actual combat, the game plays pretty much identically to Strike Suit Zero. You pilot one of 3 strike suits (basic, marauder, and raptor) and can build up “flux” by blasting enemies. The flux allows you to transform into strike mode, where your space fighter turns into a kick-♥♥♥ robot with cool guns and rapid lock-on missiles that can splash an entire screen full of enemy fighters if you’re good at aiming. The raptor strike suit is kind of light a faster but weaker version of the basic suit, but the marauder is a heavy bomber. Instead of the fast lock missiles you have slow anti-capital ship torpedoes, like the bomber in Strike Suit Zero. Instead of the flak canon gun, you have a long range anti-capital ship canon. Basically, the marauder is for dealing with the big enemies and isn’t nearly as good against strike craft. Unfortunately, you cannot change which strike suit you play during missions without starting over, so you’ll probably be using the basic one most of the time (it’s the best all-purpose ship).

Pros:
+If you liked Strike Suit Zero combat and wasn’t a big fan of the mediocre story, you’ll probably enjoy Strike Suit Infinity.
+As a space fighter sim it has a lot elements that I enjoy: lock on missiles for enemy strike craft, the ability to blast weak points and turrets off of giant ships, and a “special move” transforming into strike mode for real ♥♥♥ kicking.
+Your level scores are compared with people in your steam friends list so you can see who’s the best.

Cons:
-I really miss having a story for single player gaming
-If you want a high score in the later levels you really need to work your way up from level 1 to have enough credits. Some of the enemies can totally wipe out your reinforcements (kamikaze drones and mine layers).
-Just like Strike Suit Zero, you have no control over your allies. For example you can’t order them to attack specific targets. It would be nice to be able to order your bombers to focus on capital ships.

Overall, the game is a fun extension of the original Strike Suit Zero. Don’t just jump directly into Strike Suit Infinity though or you will have a hard time. The slow progression of the original game makes the increased difficulty more reasonable.

This game is great! classic arcade style shooting in space with transforming robots, beautiful scenery (I've taken plenty of screenshots just of the environment because of how gorgeous it looks) simple but satisfying gameplay, plenty of replayability as you know you could do a level ever so slightly better than before.

The game combined with my Saitek X52 flight controller is the closest I will ever get to space, but I'll be damned if it doesnt feel awesome!

Great arcade-style spaceship shoot-em-up game if you can pick it up on sale. There’s definitely a huge emphasis on player skill (weapon/ally selection, missile-lock dodging, 3D nav, etc.) in order to advance through the 18 stages. I was able to get through 9 stages in about 3.5 hrs, and that was with way too many cups of coffee. I think this game would be a lot of fun with a joystick and multiple monitors. The music really gets the adrenaline going too (especially in the last round of each level). Tons of fun, but a little too intense for casual gamers. Giving it a thumbs up.

If you are a score hunter, a fan of games like Metal Slug and 1941, Transformers, and Star Wars, then you should enjoy this game. It's the same thing, essentially, over and over, but that's the entire point. It's a game where you see how long you can survive wave after wave of increasingly difficult ships. It's like unlimited Tetris, but you have huge guns and it doesn't matter if the pieces fit when they fall down. Just make sure they don't shoot back at you.

Like challenging, repetitive wave-combat games? - Buy this game. You won't be disappointed. It's so great.
Don't like repetitive wave-combat games? - Don't buy this game and spare the negative review please and thank you.

No story, no shops, no goals, just an arcade style kill things til you die to get the highscore space shooter.

Super fun if you're into the Gundam style of mechs as opposed to the mech warrior variant that has come up lately.

Do not play this game with a keyboard.

It is just a fantastic Game. I recommend you turn on ALL visual effects to enjoy this. Looking at the other reviews 1-2 hours on record of gameplay isn't enough to truly expereince this game. Round 12 + Is where people need to really review this game. If you want fast paced? This is it. Overall the controls are hard to get used to sure but for me a keyboard and mouse are absolutely fine. Once your past the learning cuve this game is a blast. Literally.

The ships look truly stunning flying past then with their cannons blasting the enemy fighters. And once you are in the higher round and the cruisers are fighting each other its becomes really fast paced. And you can choose to start at round 19 once you reach it and go from there to "Infinity". So it does give you the option to bypass the slower levels once you clear them.

All in All this game is a 10/10 for me. If you want a High paced Space shooter then this is for you. Graphically stunning and great game play.

Cons? Honestly if this had muliplayer I'd be on 300+ hours by now. Its a shame they never gave it the ability for online.

Strike Suit Infinity is a excellent wave-based space arena game, where you take control of a spacecraft/mech transformer hybird thing (called Gund... I mean strike suit) to destory waves of enemies from small intercepters to massive carriers. There are 18 stages total, with each stage having a set number of waves of enemies to fight. You keep going until you die, when you die your score gets added to the leaderboards.
Combat is part dogfighting, and part Mech mode massacre. When you are in "jet" mode you aren't very powerful, but you are pretty fast. Your goal is to fill up your red meter, so that you can enter "mech" mode. In "mech" mode, you become a death machine, but you cant travel great distances very fast. Your red meter will drain in "mech" mode per weapon fired. This red meter fills up whenever you kill an enemy.
There are 3 types of strike suits, unlocked as you progress through the levels. You can unlock new weapons and upgrades, that you keep when you die.

PROS
-Amazing visuals, particle effects
-Great soundtrack
-challenging
-good enemy variety
-the PRICE!!!!
-runs well on my PC

CONS
-controls could have been better
-Each wave in a stage remains the same on every playthrough
-Can be alittle bit hard to aim in "jet" mode

Improvements
-Needs more Gund... I mean strike suits
-Needs more weapons
-Needs strike suit customization

When was the last time you saw a space combat game?

While you are probably thinking to get Strike Suit Zero, I would rather recommend Strike Suit Infinity mainly because Strike Suit Zero's story wasn't really interesting to me (in my opinion), but what shined the most was the combat. SSI takes SSZ's great combat and puts it into a cheaper and a more "arcade styled" game.

Some features about the combat:
  • The Strike Suit has a "Flux" mode, and when activated, your Strike Suit turns into a "Gundam-sort-mech" that targets more enemies and deals more damage.
  • It's a pure arcade space combat game, just shoot the bad guys and you are good to go.
  • The music helps fuel what is going on in combat. It will play an ambient tune when there aren't much enemies, but once you are on a final wave, expect an awesome adrenaline pumping track.
  • I find the game is better played with a Mouse and Keyboard, a Joystick works, but I just prefer the Mouse and keyboard since shooting enemies feels a lot easier, instead of having to constantly move your ship to get a good shot.

If you have great memories of space combat simulators (ex: Freespace and Star Wars flight action games), Strike Suit Infinity could be the game for you.

Arcade-like space shooter where you control fighter that can transform into robot. Unlike it's big brother, Strike Suit Zero, this one has no story and it's all about clearing levels and getting high score by killing waves of enemies. After each level there you get cash that can be used to buy additional reinforcements. Has a pretty strong flavor of Gundam.

This is a really interesting game, and it is somewhat fun. In addition the price of admission on a sale of ~3$ or less, you can't entirely go wrong. Yet, as a game itself it has some issues and it's unfortunate because I really want to love this game, but I just can't presently.

Pros
-------
Cheap
Fantastic graphics
Massive smorgasborg of ships in a battle at once
Decent soundtrack
Supposedly improved over Strike Suit Zero (Haven't played)
Difficult

Cons
-------
Difficulty is somewhat due to wrestling controls and some players (I was indifferent) might not like the lack of a difficulty option.
Controls are less then optimal and misses some important options.
AI is dumb as a rock, both allies and enemies
The view out the ship in 1st person view mode is very narrow
No quick shortcuts to roll
Serious Performance issues with the engine itself, engine slows down entirely with large amounts of ships, completely unrelated to hardware power of your PC.
In addition the game is prone to random crashing.

Score 6/10 (Alright)
Score if it was without control and performance issues 7.5/10 (Good)

While this lacks the story-based campaign of its predecessor, it makes up for it in tighter, more focused gameplay. It's really a lot of fun if you want to simply load up something spacey and shoot stuff. For a detailed review, check out my full article here. Enjoy!
