Frankly, this is so much more fun than the original oregon trail. My only complaint is how aiming to shoot works. It's funky and cumbersome. It's hard with a mouse and almost imossible with the controller

Although it's a bit simple, it's worth 5 bucks in my book for Taylor Swift, Kim Jong Un, Kayne West, Bill Nye, and Mia Khalifa in a post-apocolyptic organ trail.

Nobody knows what cause the outbreak but we've all heard rumors of this so called 'Safe Haven' out on the west coast. Grab the gear and put our friends into the station wagon it's time to head west.

This zombified version of 'Oregon Trail' keeps enough of the classic game to trigger quality nostalgia while adding enough new mechanics to make it feel fresh and exciting. Some of the events and outcomes can feel overly random and unfair but the wasteland roads are not the safest.

I love this game way more than I could put into words. Simple design, easy access, addicting. I would call it a "retro survival sim": a zombie apocalypse ended the world as we know it. You and your friends try to cross what once was the USA from the East Coast to the West, chasing a rumor known as "Safe Haven", a stronghold where the zombie outbreak seems to have been controlled. Your job is to admin everything until you reach Safe Haven, that is gas, money, routes, including scavenging for food, at what hours you should best do so, keeping an eye out for your ammo, deciding if you should keep going to the West Coast with your bitten friend or if he is a potential menace to the whole group and should be rather put down, if you should risk breaking your car driving for another mile in the hopes of finding a better trading spot, etc., etc.

These tasks may appear mundane at first, but once you soak in the rather dark atmosphere and realize how close you have become to those pixels with the name of random friends, the game becomes a tragic story of a group just trying to survive and their everyday trying to do so. And you are the leader.

It's so much fun to experience and imagine the situation you go through. One moment you'll think you made a great deal buying that tire for so cheap, the next you'll curse yourself for not having rather invested in scraps. And while on the road, you'll sometimes encounter little "choose-your-own-adventure"-like events with fellow survivors, some friendly, others not so much, spicing up the experience.

Organ Trail is impressively immersive, given it's Atari graphics and lack of a deeper canon story. It's one of those video game experiences in which the game only makes the rules, while you make the story in your head, and I think this is the strongest point here.

But as good as it is, it has some very nasty bugs that can bring you serious frustration. For example, I just was at the end of the game, a comrade died and the game refused to advance until I fed all of them to the zombies. As if this wasn't enough, the game got stuck after defeating the final boss. After having spend my time carefully administrating my crew from coast to coast through hordes of zombies, this wasn't a rewarding pay off. I just wish such issues were patched already, since they happen relatively often with me, let's say, every 3rd or 4th playthrough.

Be it as it is, though, I can only recommend Organ Trail as a fantastic game for those who like just make up and imagine their own zombie stories while playing along.

One of the best games ever, such a good take on Oregon Trail with the cutest pop-culture references. Really immersive, challenging and scary for what it is.

After the Family in Oregon Trail finally made it to Oregon, they were suddenly transported into the modern day future,
and had to do that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t all over again, but this time, with zombies added to the mix.

Sometimes you have to ask yourself if life is really worth living for.

Very fun game. Enjoyed it with friends for hours. Surprising tense when zombie fights occur. Only complains are some bugs that happen at the end of the game.

The game crashes at the end, requiring you to restart the game and replaying ending minigame again. This also prevents you from seeing your full score at the end. These bugs have been a problem for sometime and the devs have not patched this.

Purchased as part of a bundle at some point in the distant past, excellent graphics and music, originally played on tablet/phone. 100% replica of Oregon Trail from the 80's... if you were crossing the country in 2000 during a zombie apocalypse, WELL worth $5.

It's nice, classic adventure game in the style of the original Oregon Trail but with zombies and a modern day setting. There are some little extra goodies mixed in as well. It's short but replay ability and achievements will keep you coming back.

I remember dumping a lot of hours of my time into this game back when it was just a browser game, and I have to say that it's great to see way more content added to it since then and put up on Steam. There's just something really addicting about games where you can name the characters and see what kinds of crazy stuff ensues based partially on random chance while the other half depends on how well you've been managing the trip. Aside from the obvious of this being a parody of the Oregon Trail games, the game kind of has a sort of "The Walking Dead" RPG game vibe to it, which is pretty awesome. I highly recommend it for fans of the Oregon Trail games, zombie apocalypse survival scenario fans, and people just looking for a simple game that's easy to pick up and play either for a few minutes at a time or for hours on end.

It's The Oregon Trail, but with zombies. And Clements. And zombies. And shotguns. And scavenging for food and supplies. And zombies. And dysentery. And references. And zombies. And biker gangs. And... did I mention it has zombies?

In all seriousness, this is a really fun parody of The Oregon Trail. You lead a party of four other survivors in your quest to safe haven, all while fending off zombies, scavenging for food and supplies, dealing with dysentery, fending off biker gangs and undead fauna, and wondering how exactly one would break their leg inside a station wagon. Campaign Mode is your quest to Safe Haven, while Endless Mode lets you travel forever (so long as you maintain your supplies and pray that none of your party members survive) while completing challenges that unlock new presets and buffs that add replayability to the game. If you always thought The Oregon Trail was missing zombies, then this is the game for you.

Picked up this gem at the Winter Sale 2015. Definitely worth it, especially the director's cut.
This game is a tribute to the (ugh, educational) game The Oregon Trail, but the Organ Trail is similar in a fashion of going across the United States, scavenging/hunting for suplies, mainting your vehicle, and generally surviving. Definitely work a look.

Well-done remake of an original classic. Lightweight tongue-in-cheek retro, a very good game by itself, and a very good opportunity to get to know this piece of game history if you, like me, haven't tasted it earlier.

Makes me wonder that, by modern naming conventions, roguelike-like was discovered before roguelike actually... :)

One thing to note about this review: I've only played through with the expansion, so I'm not sure how the vanilla game holds up by comparison. I can tell you that with the expansion, this game is pretty fun. It's not particularly hard on the normal difficulty, so you might wanna ramp it up a bit if yer a veteran. Granted, it does take some play time to get used to the swing of things, but one or two playthroughs should do for that. What controls there are handle the way that they should, so minigame segments are easy enough to get the hang of. The core of the gameplay seems to come more from being good at managing yer little party's survival. There's plenty of that to be done and a decent amount of customisation to change things up. Different road events do well enough to keep things interesting. A couple different modes and plenty of unlockables and secrets make replays pretty worthwhile. There are some glitches that I've encountered that can stop the game from progressing but loading the save seems to remedy that. The soundtrack is equal parts retro, moody, and even epic. While not terribly exciting, the game can put you on the edge of yer seat. Content isn't huge but it's big enough to keep ya comin' back for a little while. For the price, it's a good game.

Nabbing this, especially while on sale, is most certainily worth your time and money. While a single play through without the Final Cut DLC is all you really need to get the entire package out of the game, multiple playthroughs allow for more of the funnier, if albeit random, events to occur. Playing the game with a friend adds for even more enjoyment, as you both can now experience the random hilarity of dysentary or hapless, seatbelt-less arm-breaks this game often provides.

Seriously, it's worth the two bucks. Invite friends over, make funny choices. It's a fun title.
