About This Game

Colonize solar systems, annihilate homeworlds, and exterminate your foes in epic interplanetary battles with multiple players and thousands of units. Planetary Annihilation takes strategy gaming to a never-before-seen scale -- and gives players powerful tools to control the action.

Blow up everything, anywhere; dominate with punishing spacecraft, robots, and other futuristic machines of war. Arm asteroids and send them on planet-destroying collision courses. And take over an entire galaxy in a dynamic single-player mode with procedurally generated content. Don’t just win, annihilate!

Key Features Include:

  • Epic Single-Player - Galactic War is a twist on traditional real-time strategy campaigns that has players battling across a dynamic galaxy filled with procedurally-generated content. Every playthrough is different. Annihilation is final.
  • Epic Multiplayer - Play with up to ten friends (or enemies) in massive free-for-all and team-based matches.
  • Spectate - Spectate matches with a suite of incredible viewing options.
  • Advanced Command And Control - With intuitive drags and clicks, seamlessly switch between planets, mine resources, create custom unit formations, or pulverize armies.
  • Dynamic Picture-In-Picture - View and interact with your units on another planet in a second window as you focus and control the action in your primary view.
  • Instant Replays - View in-match recordings in real-time while matches are in progress. See when a battle turned by rewinding the game to any point or check out the entire match after a game ends.
  • Smash Planets - Don’t just win, annihilate. End games with the mother of all weapons: an asteroid on a collision course.

After playing this game over 60 hours I have concluded it is a long awaited modern version of what many remember as Command & Conquer Red Alert (best ever of the C&C series imo) without having any similarities beyond fun factor. The element of Space combat and unit teleporters provides plenty of entertainment for those who like challenging diversity. For those who just like to make ground units that works too and the only missing elements are tesla coils. In either case its been a nice game but they recently made Titans. To continue finding an abundance of online matches with people from around the world Titans is a must as of this review. I have managed to snag titans on sale for under $10 and its worth that. I can imagine this game being converted to a VR experience if it continues to develoup.

pretty fun; a large scale RTS that spans across planets. read the other reviews for more, but i have to say: don't buy the game unless it is on sale. at $30 its not worth it, but when it goes down on a sale it can be great.

source: bought game for $30, went on sale for $3

I got this game in a bundle for like 3€ most (the whole bundle, not the game) and I still feel ripped off. The saddest thing is that the concept of this game is brilliant. It's just terribly executed.

One of the biggest selling points of the game is that you can have a whole system and have a match where you not only have to fight the enemy, you also have to figure out where in the system they are. Sounds great, right? Yeah it should. The problem is, the moment you have a system that big (9+ planets) the game becomes unplayable, ranging between 1 and 14 FPS and with planets not rendering fully. My GTX 970 can run any modern game (Witcher 3, SW: Battlefront, etc) in Ultra at 50-60 FPS with no sweat. However even when I overclock it, it cannot run Planetary Annihilation at more than 14FPS when playing in a full system. The game looks barely better than a mobile game, the fact that it's far more demanding than games like Witcher 3 or SW: Battlefront (even at low a graphic setting) is simply absurd.

If you have a GTX 1080 or better than you can still get this game, but don't get such a high-end GPU just for PA. It's not worth it. If you don't have such a high-end GPU avoid it. It will bring you nothing but headaches.

TLDR: This game is awful. At any price. ITS REDEEMING FEATURE, ITS SCALE, IS HANDLED BY SLOWING DOWN TO BE UNUSABLE - BY DESIGN. THINK ABOUT THAT BEFORE YOU BUY - THE DEVS ARE SO BAD THEY COULDN'T MAKE THIS WORK ANY OTHER WAY.

Uber is extremely dishonest and has opted to release a totally half-baked product, on a massive cost (it started at $99!) with DLC and a new title entirely before even properly finishing the first one.

Planetary Annihilation's huge draw is supposed to be its scale. Multiple planets, thousands of units. Instead, load times are obscene, and the absolute kicker: it doesn't take long at all until the game throttles so badly that it's unplayable BY DESIGN.

I'm in a game with 5 AI factions and one human player, and it's running 14s per 1s in game. The game's solution to its own untenable scale is to throttle down until its scale works - which means it fails horribly for the player and is extremely uninteresting.

This game could be fantastic, but that alone makes it almost complete, unusuable garbage. IF YOUR GAME CANNOT HANDLE A FEATURE WITHOUT THE ONLY SOLUTION BEING "THROTTLE DOWN TO 3 FRAMES PER MINUTE, YOU SHOULD PROBABLY NOT CONSIDER IT A FEATURE WORTH ADVERTISING".

I got it on sale, @$26, and it was still more than this game is worth. It is my sincere hope Uber goes out of business completely and a competent developer decides to try and make the game PA should have been.

Garbage. Complete and utter throttled garbage.

DO NOT BUY THIS. IT IS A WASTE OF MONEY.

Well... Here we go...

Pros:
Great gameplay.
Zerg Rushes.
Planets crashing into planets.
Nukes.
Huge array of mods.
Annihalazers. Yep. Deathstars..
Constant stream of updates and new official content.

Cons:
Better playing with friends, as multiplayer is where the pros lurk.
Naval units are a bit OP.
Annihalazers can only be used once.
No helicopter units.

Overall: Very Positive!

Please, someone tell the devs to add helicopters...

Pro: Good graphics (a bit different, much like spore, but good,) land sea air space battles, battles rage across the galaxy. Lots of units and can have lots of players, can make your own planets.

Con: The more units/players you have, the laggier it's going to be, unless you have top-notch computer setup, aside from smashing planets and beating players/comps, not much to do, storyline very limited.

Summary: Great game for killing time killing players/comps with lots of units and good graphics, but not much else to it, and be careful w/ unit/player quantity as it may start to lag.
