We’re on holiday! 22cans shuts up shop for Xmas

The time has come for us to emerge from the comforting cocoon that is 22cans Towers and return to the warm embrace of our friends and family, our kith and kin, as the holiday season festivities begin in earnest.

Our development and support staff will be on vacation from 4pm GMT on Wednesday 24th December 2014 until 10am GMT on Monday 5th January 2015.

Social networks

During this time, we will not be on hand to respond to your support queries via our social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Reddit etc.), so now you’ll know where we’ll be instead!

Forums

We also won’t be maintaining an active forum presence during this period – that goes for our official forum, the Steam forum as well as any independent forums. You’re on your own kids, please don’t leave it too messy when we come to clear up after you in the New Year!

Customer service

Our dedicated tech support team members will be monitoring and clearing tickets as normal every day, excluding weekends, Christmas day (Thurs 25th December 2014) and New Year’s Day (Thurs 1st January 2015). Please bear mind, however, that the team won’t be operating at full capacity, so you may find that your queries take a little longer than usual to receive a response.

Here’s to a spectacular 2015!

In 2014, we brought the Godus experience to iOS and Android devices, as well as bringing ranged combat to Godus on Steam, thus completing a major step in the fulfilment of our Kickstarter goals.

We’d just like to take this opportunity to thank you for your endless patience and unqualified support throughout our journey. Thanks to your continued positivity, we all remain super-passionate about Godus fulfilling its promise of reinventing the God game.

Our desire to bring the game to full release on Steam in 2015 and make it the experience our desktop players want it to be has never been stronger. We are fully committed to carry on making Godus a deep, enthralling game and we are currently developing content that we hope will appeal to gamers over a long time. We'll be sharing full details about these new features and functions in due course.

So, that’s all for 2014. Here’s to 2015 – may it see all our wishes come true!

Cross-platform development

Our development proceeds through sprints that may have differing platform focuses. As such, much of the gameplay available to you in v2.2 is the result of a recent mobile-focused sprint and we intend to progress to a PC-focused sprint within the coming months. Please take this into consideration, as while adjustments will continue to be made to the PC platform to account for the game's differing payment model (buy-to-play on PC & free-to-play on mobile), some areas of balance and design may retain certain elements of the mobile version for the time being.

About This Game

Have you ever wanted to play god? In GODUS, you can sculpt every inch of a beautiful world that you look down upon, where your population of Followers will settle and multiply. As you rule over your living, breathing society, a civilization will blossom across your land and offer you their belief. The more Followers that believe in you, the more powerful you will become. It is as simple to play as it is spectacular to behold. Come and lead an incredible journey - this delightful, charming world is waiting for you to make it your own.

GODUS is currently in active cross-platform development for Windows PC, Mac OS and mobile devices where the gameplay experience will evolve and expand over time as we periodically deliver updates for the game.

GODUS is brought to you by legendary designer and inventor of the god game genre, Peter Molyneux.

Key Beta Features

  • You can sculpt the entire world and make it truly unique to you
Sculpt every inch of an entirely moldable world in the most delightful way. Uncover a wealth of mysteries and surprises waiting to be unearthed beneath the landscape, and find others atop it.

  • Be adored and worshipped by tiny, devoted Followers. Watch them live, learn and love in a fully simulated world
Your ever-gracious population of reactive, living Followers will need you and worship you unconditionally. You’re the god and they’re your playthings.

  • Create villages and towns, grow their population and sculpt the very lands on which they live
Group your Followers together to create charming villages or thriving towns - specialize these into Building, Farming or Mining communities.

  • Lead Followers from your Homeworld and set sail on Voyages of Discovery to uncharted lands
Guide your Followers as they embark on regular Voyages to new and undiscovered lands that hold great rewards.

  • Nurture the growth of a civilization as it rises from the dawn of the primitive age and advances throughout the ages of humanity
Choose various types of stickers to unlock cards that level-up your population's society, technologies and faith. Cards go into your Timeline, which allows you to make advancements within an era and unlock new abilities.

  • Meet the Astari - a fun loving, party going little tribe who worship the pursuit of happiness
Your world is not empty. It’s also inhabited by the mischievous Astari, who will do everything they can to persuade your Followers to come and join them. As a god, you must use your powers to deal with these pesky people.

I kickstarted this game hoping for a modern Populous. Should have just bought Populous 2 on GoG.
Peter Molyneux tricked me out of my money again. The master of over promising and under delivering.

Don't bother spending a dime on this game unless in a few months(?) you see actually gameplay footage of all announced features in the game.
I don't recommend this for anyone in it's current state, which is very likely to be very similar to it's final stage, which is far from anything it claims and previously claimed it would be.
Uninteresting, bare boned, unifinished product of a company owner who always bites more than he can chew.

Do some small research in the Steam Forums for this game before considering throwing your hard earned money at this game, because it's legitimately awful at it's current state, I question why Steam still has this in their store.

Please be advised this is abandon ware. Paul M who is the owner of this studio has basically did a switch and bait tactic to get funding to produce this game, but instead used those funds to make a mobile version and just basically dumped the PC version to the wolves. If you purchase this based on the store page you are being decieved and will regret buying it because the features promised are missing or incomplete. There are 2 programmers left working on this since Jan 2015 so dont expect any large updates/patches any time soon.

I usually do not do reviews as they are a personal opinion and one persons opinion may/maynot agree with anothers opinion.

It's simply a trap to those B&W's player. The endless development without a obvious progress or clean vision doesnt earn a trust from anyone paid 20USD for a early access. I doubt this game if it can be 100% finish at last.

This game is like sex. You get into it. You enjoy it for few minutes. You prematurely collected all faith and sculped all the land then soon realise that you ran out of fuel and have to wait until next load is ready.

6 months later this crap still wont launch on my laptop. From what I can understand it's not changed much from a pay2play mobile game tapfest anyway.

Long time Peter Molyneux fan, but I'm feeling pretty goddam decieved as this was sold as a game that would follow the traditions and gameplay of his early classics like populous and black and white.

Literally all they had to do was remake populous and that would of been enough to keep me (and everyone else) happy. Easily the most dissapointing thing i've ever invested in on early access/kickstarter and I invested in double fines space base df-9 so thats saying something.

One of the few games I am really sorry I have bought.

If you need to develop carpal tunnel syndrome, this is the game you need.

Endless clicking.

I will let others with better reviewing skills to provide more explanations.

This is a tough game to review. I usually find myself enjoying the mechanics and art style of the game, but the development for the game has been pretty bad.

There used to be multiplayer, there isn't, anymore. This is just one of many things that were supposed to be in the game, and now will apparently never be included.

The reason for that? It's pretty much "done" in the eyes of the company making the game, aside from some finishing up.

Communication has been quite bad from 22cans, with nothing answered clearly enough to indicate that they're not abandoning the game.

Frankly, the game is pretty fun to play, if you're into the whole sim-people sort of genre, but it lacks focus, development, and a future.

With those faults, I wouldn't recommend it at this price, as in retrospect, the idea of what it would become was probably what motivated me.

Knowing the game will never become much more than it is now... that kinda kills all passion to play.

I know it's early access, but wow. It's bad. don't waste your money. I got it as a gift, and I feel bad for the person that got it for me, because they paid good money for a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. Hopefully it'll get better since it's early access, but I can just feel the ego of the tutorial narrator coming out of the screen. "i think this and that and this is where it gets fun" it doesn't. It stays slow and impossible, and there are very few ways to get the all important resource item: gems. It's like a play to win facebook game, except the store is broken so you cannot make anything but agonizingly slow progress. I know the developers can do better. Black and White is better than this game, and it came out when I was still in middle school. From what I understand it's been early access for over a year and has had very little improvement, so there isn't much hope. Save your money and put this game on the bad list. Whoever made it should not be allowed near a game designing project ever again. I can literally see the potentially fun game trying to poke its way through, only to be bashed down by poor design choices, like someone made a perfectly good angel food cake and then decided put habanero and garlic sauce on it, with a bit of liver chopped on it for good measure.

I'm going to start with saying. I was a huge Populous fan ( it was from the deceased company Bullfrog ..... which for those to young to remember, is when we had truly great God Sims like Dungeon Keeper and the aformentioned Populous Franchise ). For some reason no one makes great *God Sim* games anymore ............ I had hope for this. But after paying and playing this garbage. I can safely say this is a smack in the face to Populous. It's NOT fun at all, it's sluggish boring and repetitive. Esentially Populous The Beginning without all the cool fun streamlined combat, village building and awesome world altering spells. ( Everything is a chore in this game ) Seriously people save your money and rather grab yourself a copy of *Populous The Beginning* ........... yes it's dated but it's still a million times better then this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Kind Regards,
Peace to my brothers and sisters,
Jared

Find an old version on tpb.

The early game was perfect! Before all the micro-transactions were added the game had plenty of potential and I was moderately excited to see it hit the mobile platform after playing it for a while on pc. Then the updates came.
The first one was horrible, it trashed my original world and added a whole schlew of elements meant to make it harder and harder to progress, and then shortly there after gems were added. From then on the game was just crap, things quickly became worse and now I don't play it anymore.
