I wanted to like this game, I really did. But oh god, it's so repetitive.

You'll just run through short, narrow hallways and fight groups of 4-5 respawning enemies that all fight the same way. You'll also always fight the same way, because there's only one weapon type in the whole game.

The odd thing is how the tutorial is the best part of the game. It manages to present an interesting setting, a decent plot & characters and create illusion of freedom, with some big areas and the promise of a lot of new things to unlock. But sadly, those never come, and any motivation the characters had vanishes.

If you own this already, really I recommend playing the first 2-3 hours. If not, just avoid the whole game.

Interesting little gem from developer Spiders. Nothing too deep and some strange design choices are a few setbacks. But the game has enough charm with its setting and an interesting enough story to keep a player involved for its 15 hour campaign.

I played the game and had the problem a quest was broken. A companion quest. Anyone who played games like Mass Effect or Dragon Age knows companion quests are something you really want to do.
I posted on their forums about the broken quest and got a standard-reply like I should reinstall (or whatever it was). When I posted this is no help because I already did this before I posted I never got any other answer.
I haven't ever finished the game because I refused to abandon my companion quest. This really sucks. A simple "sorry, the quest is broken" or ANY answer related to my post would have been enough.
I will never buy any game from this company as they are not even helping out once THEIR game has bugged quests which even influences the story. The Mars: War Logs forums were quite dead at that moment so it was impossible to oversee my answer.

Surely an easily over-looked and/or underrated game. Mars: War Logs offers everything an open-world/RPG gamer can want in a game. From customizing clothing, weapons, and fighting style to dialog choices that effect your outcomes in the game. If I were to rank this game I would give it 4.5/5 stars, the .5 being for less open space exploring and more like the feeling of a series of hallways you must run through, but despite the maps everything else in the game picks up the slack. What sells me personally the most is this game offers force powers in a post-apocalyptic theme, I couldn't ask for more.

Mars, War Logs is a budget RPG. Has all the elements of an rpg (character development, central story with a hero protagonist, etc), except for the extremely linear level design and exploration. The world is divided into hubs, each with 3 or 4 linear maps with repetitive design and art - and this is the one and major drawback of the game.

Otherwise the story is decent, with few branching quests, but with a strong separation between following a tyrant or a peaceful path. The characters are also believable and have a fair developed background with a few options for romance.

Game runs well with no bugs to report. Graphics are average (think last gen console level) but the combat mechanics are solid and the gameplay is fluid.

I recommend the game for player looking for a ~12h RPG with no grand expectation. You will definitely derive enjoyment from the game.

I was really enjoying myself up until the story seemed to be picking up momentum only to ram straight into a rather pathetic hamfisted ending as soon as things were getting interesting. That said, until that disappointment it was a fun 'beat people to death with a stick' simulator.

While the groundwork for an interesting game with an interesting story is present, the game falls short in almost every aspect.
The combat is all over the place, the story is missing important parts and important information, and the environments are all pretty samey. Easily the most promising feature is the crafting system that enables you so mix and match your equipment to fit your play-style.
All in all I can't really recommend this game.
Also I found it very interesting to pretend that this game takes place in the distant past of Warhammer 40.000 before the Adptus Mechanicus was established.

Im sorry, but i cant play it any more.

really bad graphics for a 2013 game!
The trailer for this game was great (like the trailer for their next rpg game "bound by flame"), this was on sale - for 3,7 Euros (thanks for that!) so i brought it. I regret it even for that price.
I really tryed to give this game a chance, but I cant.
Terrible voice acting, the graphics, omg the lip sync!!!!!!.... No no no, thanks

But i give them a 10 points from 10 for the "trailer" for this game!
After this, I dont know if I give a chance to "bound by flames".... (yeah, the trailer is of course great) :)

Mass effect trilogy forever! Sorry guys

This game is like reading a book for your much hated english class. The combat is difficult, although satisfying, can cause you to be trapped in a mission for hours at a time. The story wasn't very driving either. I would have to tell myself that it would get better as I progressed, when it would infact stay as boring as the previous 2 hours of gameplay.

Ok so I bought this game on sale to give it a try...well it was worth it. Sure its not a big budget game and it does have its flaws, but all arounf I did enjoy playing it. The story is interesting and the game tries to make crafting interesting. Combat has its ups and downs but all round it is not that bad. So just to finish off all I can say is give this game a try and keep an open mind. it is nice to see small developers try and make great games to show that you do not need a few millions to actualy crank out a good game.

Why do I like this game? Probably just because I love games that allow you to be the one to make the main character's moral decisions and influence the game's final ending. I beat the game pretty quickly despite the fact that I had to replay multiple parts, and I didn't love the combat, though it was still fun. I found the few characters that were actually developed to some degree to be quite interesting, and the ability to influence the final outcome, and who lives and dies is just something I always enjoy in an rpg.
What's wrong with it? For one dialog is confusing, it's not like in mass effect which gives you, good bad and neutral, in fact it makes little distinction obvious, at times I felt like there was no difference in the choices I was given, and what irrirated me the most was when I clicked an option, but what the character said seemed to be nothing like what the option said. Also as I said before, combat was relatively fun and challenging but nothing to write home about.

It's like a bioware rpg (jade Empire mostly) with a 10th of the budget, a 20th of the charm and none of the redeeming qualities.

To elaborate (or basically repeat myself), it has what you would expect from an rpg in 2013: a story, a real-time combat system, some companions, some choices and a few consequences, but the game never excels in any of these or gives you any reason why you would want to play this over any bioware games (yes, even those ones).

Wait until The Witcher 2 is cheaper than a fast food boxed meal again if you're one of those weirdos who doesn't have it yet (assuming you want a game containing a story, a real-time combat system, some choices and some consequences).

I, generally, avoid single player games.. this one, however, has a storyline and characters that are truely engaging. Looking for an environment that has something to say and you want to play it on your own time.. give this one a spin. Don't expect innovative gameplay, just really good story-telling. One of my faves.. and again, I avoid single player games.
