Larry Reloaded should be a nostalgic journey. But Leisure Suit Larry is even worse aged, as its main character.
I don't remember much about the first time I played Leisure Suit Larry. Step back into the shoes of fat, bald, Virgin Larry and tried in Vegas-ish City of Lost Wages laid first issues a good impression on the eyes and ears.
Playing the game involves trawling round a small number of tedious locations, collecting random objects for obscure purposes. The original version of the game didn’t have many scenes , and you’ll find that true of this remake also.
Many of the puzzles will be old hat to series fans. Searching items you’ve just picked up, returning to areas you’re led to believe that you’re completely done with. Solving puzzles involves clicking on everything in sight and revisiting the same places many times over, until new items arbitrarily appear.
Larry needs money to pay the taxi driver and buy drinks, and the only way to earn is through gambling. Only way to earn money to turn to one of the many slot machines in Lost Wages to boost his spending money for the evening. That you grind for more money by saving your game after wins and reloading after losses. This is a bad system.
Visually, is the game really nice, with beautifully visuals and good animations. Every scene is packed full of colour. The music is goofy and smooth. I like jazz :)
Im a big larry fan and i love the old games. It doesn’t last long and its humour certainly won’t be for everyone. If you are a oldschool larry fan, wait for a sale and maybe give it a try. BUT this modern version cant rescue the old style.
Score: 63 / 100
