Football Manager 2014 Update 14.3.1 Released

2014年4月9日

As you may have already seen, the PlayStation Vita version of Football Manager is due for release on the 11th April. Due to the cross-platform play available in Football Manager Classic mode, we’ve taken this opportunity to release an update for FM14 to enable this functionality.

We’ve also included a few other fixes which include, but are not limited to the changelist posted below.

To update you will need to close the game down and re-launch for it to update. If this does not work for you or you feel it has not updated you will need to restart Steam.

Upon launching the game you will see the updated version number of 14.3.1 in the bottom right hand corner of the Start Screen.

If your version still hasn’t updated we suggest again restarting Steam and if that still doesn’t work, try verifying your game cache as explained here in our FAQ - http://www.footballmanager.com/faq/?game=38&id=221

So managers, get back into your sheepskins and lead your teams to glory. Failing that, a sneaky one-nil win away might just keep the chairman off your back for a couple more games…

Football Manager 2014 - Update 14.3.0 Winter Transfer Update OUT NOW!

2014年2月28日

On behalf of everyone at Sports Interactive I’m proud to announce the release of the Winter Transfer Data Update, 14.3.0.

When starting a new game you will now be given an option to start with one of two databases, the default database (14.0) or the Winter Update (14.3). Included are all the latest transfers and updated squads, so for example, if you want to see if you can best Moyes with Mata at Manchester United, now is your chance! The data is compatible with new saves only on both full Football Manager and Football Manager Classic.

Also included within the update are a number of other changes and fixes to the game and the match engine which are save game compatible. So if you're in no rush to use the latest data you're fine to continue on with your current save. A link to a changelist showing the majority of these changes is listed below.

To update you will need to close the game down and re-launch for it to update. If this does not work for you or you feel it has not updated you will need to restart Steam.

Upon launching the game you will see the updated version number of 14.3 in the bottom right hand corner of the Start Screen.

Please remember as with all data updates, short-term loans are not included, and some late transfers/managerial changes or those conducted after February 1st 2014 may not be included.

The changelist includes but is not limited to the changes found here - http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php/386142-Football-Manager-2014-Update-14.3.0-Winter-Transfer-Update-RELEASED?p=9462928&viewfull=1#post9462928

關於此遊戲

- Play it whenever, wherever, however
Play on Linux for the first time, plus the inclusion of ‘cloud-save’ technology which means that managers can now pursue a single career from any computer, anywhere in the world. FM14 also includes integration with Steam Workshop making it easy for managers to create and share customised FM content such as photo/logo packs, new and custom competitions and tailor-made challenges using the new Challenge Editor.

- Improved Match Engine
The 3D Match Engine has seen extensive improvements, including enhanced AI, improved lighting and player animation, individual player character and kit models, more realistic player reaction to on-field incidents and a range of optimisations which combine to make this the best looking and fastest FM Match Engine yet.

- Tactical overhaul
There has been a complete redesign of how tactics are created, selected and implemented with player roles and team strategies becoming even more prominent, definable roles for players for multiple positions, new player roles and instructions and improvements to rival managers' AI so that they’ll adapt their tactics more readily over time.

- More realistic transfers and contracts
FM 2014 features a revamped transfer module where opposing clubs and managers adopt a more realistic approach when making or responding to transfer offers. In addition, a number of new ‘real world’ transfer clauses have been added, such as the facility to loan a player back to the club he’s just been bought from and the option to offer a combination of cash and loan players, as well as new contract clauses such as a sub bench appearance fee. On top of this, the old ‘turn-based’ system of transfer negotiations can now be done two ways, the tried and tested system and a new ‘live’ system, similar to that used in FM’s contract negotiations.

- More sophisticated board interaction
Contract negotiations are more realistic in FM 2014, as managers and boards can now make demands and lay down their respective visions for the club in both initial job interviews and contract renewal discussions. Managers can also attempt to renegotiate transfer and wage budgets as a reward for staying loyal if they’ve been offered a job by another club, with the outcome helping aid their decision on whether to move or not.

- Improved interaction with players, staff and media
There is now better interaction between players, managers, their rivals and the media; for example, members of the coaching staff now offer feedback on how reserve and youth team players are performing. Managers can also ask key players to have a word with unhappy squad members, while the introduction of an end-of-season meeting allows the manager to let the squad know how they have performed and set targets for the coming season.

- News system
The news system has been overhauled so managers can now deal with many club matters directly from their inbox. In addition, news is now colour-coded, based on category, and contains more detail – for example, scout reports now appear as a single news item with a top-line report on all players scouted and the facility to shortlist or make an offer for each of these players.

- Enhanced user interface
Major changes have been made to FM 2014’s user interface. Key areas have been redesigned – including the training overview page, the transfer centre and the news homepage – while widespread changes have been made across the game’s user interface. The language employed throughout the game has also enjoyed a major overhaul and now corresponds more closely to the language of real world football.

- Football Manager Classic evolved
Managers can now choose more than three playable nations in Classic mode for a more immersive experience. In addition, FM’s ‘fast play’ mode now includes Transfer Deadline Day, a Match Plan wizard and new unlockables.

This is it ,yet another year of no sleep ,no social life and no girlfriend. The game has evolved over the years and nearly all for the better.Menus and finding your way around is as easy as ever ,clear precise design and the ease of which you can add skins from other players is pretty much perfect. As detailed as you want it to be and although stat heavy (i enjoy ,some do not) it really is still a masterpiece. Some additions this year include loaning players back you buy ,nice feature especially for young talents, scouting and transfers updated and as easy as ever.Match engine still not amazing im afraid and really lets the game down at times so best with the old classic 2d or commentary. But so much to do and see and nothing still beats that feeling of that last minute goal to get your underdog team into the premiership .Millions of leagues ,countries and players .LONG LIVE FM

Do you like Strategy games? Do you like Text-Based games? Do you like Simulation games? Do you like Football? Do you have 500 hours to spare? These are literally 100% the ONLY questions you need to answer. If you answer yes on any two of these then this game is for you without question. I said don't question it.

For the 3rd year running SI have once again released a buggy, unfinished, game. The Match Engine has a ton of bugs that make watching matches excruciating as players do all sorts of mindboggling things even pre-schoolers would know not to do!

Goalies regularily run out of the box with the ball in their hands, players tackle their own teamates at kickoff, wingers are more interested in playing the ball off of the opponent to get corners or throwins than crossing... on and on.

It's ridiculous, really, that game developers are increasingly given passes by critics, and the consumer, for releasing beta code as finished product.

Wait at least 5-6 months before purchasing.

*****UPDATE for FEB.1rst*****
***********************************

OK. So, SI have put out roughly 6 (?) patches now and managed to fix some of my initial complaints. Goalies don't run out of the box with the ball anymore, and, players aren't tackling eachother at kick off. Hell, even the wingers have stopped being psychotically determined to get a throw in off of the opposition...

Question is: is it worth recommending yet? **** NO!

Not only have some issues just not been fixed... Now there are new issues...

..in the Match Engine:

- GKs now make Darwin Award winning errors at least once every 2 matches
- CBs often run off to close down the opponents midfield, running past his own CMs, leaving the opposition striker unguarded
- CBs often watch the play as if they're spectators in the stands
- World Class STs still can't score one on ones, empty nets, CCCs... but any low stat FWD can
- Wingers can barely make it to the byline, they rarely cross, they've essentially been rendered useless
- Excessive corners
- Excessive goals coming from corners
- Human controlled teams are lucky to beat poorly rated AI teams 90% of the time
- The shot to goal ratio favors the AI by 2 to 3 times
- Human controlled teams have difficulties making 5 yard passes
- Tactics/Shouts don't seem to have much of an effect on games
- Players often stop with the ball and "shuffle" slowly until tackled

..in the rest of the game:

- The transfer system has been broken. AI Teams only make unnegotiable, low ball, transfer offers
- There are bugs spread all through out the UI... there for you to find. (make sure to upload that PKM ;)
- Successfully negotiated inbound transfers will ocassionally cease mysteriously for no reason
- Glitches during matches that refuse to allow the game to be continued
- Various Coaches will disappear from the data base from time to time

..with Sports Interactive and their online "champions":

- A visit to their website, or, FM2014 Steam Forums, will see Mods abusing their position to silence negative, yet still entirely constructive, criticism
- On the official website, SI's "unofficial mods" and their "online champions" (trolls) will sit in the Feedback Thread abusing and demeaning people who provide evidence for their dissatisfaction with the state of the game. Speak to anyone the in the same way the Mods and aforementioned trolls do... and you'll get banned. The rules don't apply to them... but they certainly do to you
- Countless obvious ME errors are reduced to "it's your tactics"...

Is there anything positive about the game? Yes. It has a nice shiny new UI.... and the Rosters are current. That's about it.

Ultimately, for me, the defining moment of FM 2014 came when my lone Striker ran onto the end of a perfectly weighted through ball (so rare), was one on one with the opponents GK, stopped, turned around... and lobbed a 50 yard back pass to one of my CBs!? My unchallenged CB then watched the ball bounce 5 yards in front of him, continued watching as it went over his head... and then both my 2 CBs remained still while watching the opposition ST run in and score an easy goal. A goal where my GK fell on his side before the shot was even taken... ROFLMAO!

UNINSTALL.

Don't buy this game. Don't even bother waiting for it to be fixed via patches.

Don't buy this game for yourself... and don't buy this game for all those who already have.

It's time to vote with your wallets.

If we're ever going to have a quality FM game come out in the future.... it will most likely only occur if Sports Interactive are forced to rethink their business model... and their development schedule.
