Football Manager 2014 Update 14.3.1 Released

április 9.

As you may have already seen, the PlayStation Vita version of Football Manager is due for release on the 11th April. Due to the cross-platform play available in Football Manager Classic mode, we’ve taken this opportunity to release an update for FM14 to enable this functionality.

We’ve also included a few other fixes which include, but are not limited to the changelist posted below.

To update you will need to close the game down and re-launch for it to update. If this does not work for you or you feel it has not updated you will need to restart Steam.

Upon launching the game you will see the updated version number of 14.3.1 in the bottom right hand corner of the Start Screen.

If your version still hasn’t updated we suggest again restarting Steam and if that still doesn’t work, try verifying your game cache as explained here in our FAQ -

So managers, get back into your sheepskins and lead your teams to glory. Failing that, a sneaky one-nil win away might just keep the chairman off your back for a couple more games…

A játékról:

- Play it whenever, wherever, however
Play on Linux for the first time, plus the inclusion of ‘cloud-save’ technology which means that managers can now pursue a single career from any computer, anywhere in the world. FM14 also includes integration with Steam Workshop making it easy for managers to create and share customised FM content such as photo/logo packs, new and custom competitions and tailor-made challenges using the new Challenge Editor.

- Improved Match Engine
The 3D Match Engine has seen extensive improvements, including enhanced AI, improved lighting and player animation, individual player character and kit models, more realistic player reaction to on-field incidents and a range of optimisations which combine to make this the best looking and fastest FM Match Engine yet.

- Tactical overhaul
There has been a complete redesign of how tactics are created, selected and implemented with player roles and team strategies becoming even more prominent, definable roles for players for multiple positions, new player roles and instructions and improvements to rival managers' AI so that they’ll adapt their tactics more readily over time.

- More realistic transfers and contracts
FM 2014 features a revamped transfer module where opposing clubs and managers adopt a more realistic approach when making or responding to transfer offers. In addition, a number of new ‘real world’ transfer clauses have been added, such as the facility to loan a player back to the club he’s just been bought from and the option to offer a combination of cash and loan players, as well as new contract clauses such as a sub bench appearance fee. On top of this, the old ‘turn-based’ system of transfer negotiations can now be done two ways, the tried and tested system and a new ‘live’ system, similar to that used in FM’s contract negotiations.

- More sophisticated board interaction
Contract negotiations are more realistic in FM 2014, as managers and boards can now make demands and lay down their respective visions for the club in both initial job interviews and contract renewal discussions. Managers can also attempt to renegotiate transfer and wage budgets as a reward for staying loyal if they’ve been offered a job by another club, with the outcome helping aid their decision on whether to move or not.

- Improved interaction with players, staff and media
There is now better interaction between players, managers, their rivals and the media; for example, members of the coaching staff now offer feedback on how reserve and youth team players are performing. Managers can also ask key players to have a word with unhappy squad members, while the introduction of an end-of-season meeting allows the manager to let the squad know how they have performed and set targets for the coming season.

- News system
The news system has been overhauled so managers can now deal with many club matters directly from their inbox. In addition, news is now colour-coded, based on category, and contains more detail – for example, scout reports now appear as a single news item with a top-line report on all players scouted and the facility to shortlist or make an offer for each of these players.

- Enhanced user interface
Major changes have been made to FM 2014’s user interface. Key areas have been redesigned – including the training overview page, the transfer centre and the news homepage – while widespread changes have been made across the game’s user interface. The language employed throughout the game has also enjoyed a major overhaul and now corresponds more closely to the language of real world football.

- Football Manager Classic evolved
Managers can now choose more than three playable nations in Classic mode for a more immersive experience. In addition, FM’s ‘fast play’ mode now includes Transfer Deadline Day, a Match Plan wizard and new unlockables.

Bugos vacak, csak a pénzed dobod ki az ablakon vele. Az elején még működött, most meg folyamatosan csak a hibák jönnek ki. Ne vegyétek meg!

Having loved this series of games since it`s inception, Championship Manager then becoming Football Manager have given me endless hours of pleasure, satisfaction and enjoyment.

Having said that i`m now becoming a little disillusioned with this series and where it`s going. As it now feels to me that the game is now just geared to make it virtually impossible to have a long and productive career at less than one or two clubs.

You spend hours working on tactics only for the game to seemingly counteract them within a matter of weeks. Match Instructions seem to have no visable bearing on a match and the morale of your players drops like a stone after 1-2 defeats, but takes many matches to regain.
Once the morale of your players is lost then it`s more than likely a trip to the job centre soon after that as this seems to mean they forget how to play football.

I mean Manchester United losing to Burton Albion 4-0 in a cup game! what does that tell you? ( YES I KNOW UTD ARE HAVING A BAD RUN BUT SERIOUSLY )..

It`s very hard to get your point across to a chairman/club owner to keep the faith in you as your building a completely new team or bringing youngsters through for later years. Everything is rushed and you can be sacked from a club in as little as 10 weeks if you find it tough going from day 1.

You may think starting at the bottom and working your way up is the way to go?
Believe me that is the way i`ve always played Football Manager and the lower clubs may be a bit more patient with you but you will get sacked as soon as your players morale turns them into brain dead zombies.

I really feel that S.I had no idea how to set different levels of difficulty into FM to make it more of a challenge to experianced players and easier for new players to pick up and learn. This has resulted in a game that just basicly became virtually impossible to do well at over a long period of time.

A game i love with all my heart that has given me so much pleasure is becoming a mainstream pile of corporate garbage. There`s no love there, it`s just about volume of sales and nothing else. I so want this to be the game i love but it`s fast becoming same old same old..

The football rival to C.O.D where every year hardly anything changes but a new skin slightly changed graphics and same old bugs, unfinished product on launch and now the game intent on destroying the tactical part of the experiance.

Could be seeing the end of an ERA with this series unless something changes, i personaly think it may have even started by now if this game had a serious/decent rival to push it..

As of now there is nothing to touch or come close to this game so on that respect it`s a must buy hence i`ve given it a recommended purchase. My own personal choice would be FM2012 but if you do buy Fm2014!

I`ll warn you now .." It will frustrate the life out of you "

This is a good game for people who like to stay up way later than planned, break keyboards, and forget to eat.

This is by far the worst game of the series, and I've been playing CM / FM since 1993.

Some features have been added to appeal a younger and less simulation oriented public (babysitting players, mainly).

The match engine is devoid of any contact with reality, if you watch a game in its entirety you will see amazing things:
- ninja goalkeepers saving everything thrown at them
- tens of corners hit directly out of the field
- fullbacks running with the ball directly facing the closest oppenent and inevitably losing possession

The graphics are not just grossly outdated, but do not represent what is supposed to happen
- balls that pass through goalies
- balls that get into the net and corners are given
- midfileders, unmarked, kicking the ball right out of the field

There are also some major bugs that have never been addressed:
- after the latest patch there's a 99% chance to score a penalty, no matter how bad the "penalty" ability of the penalty taker (to the point that it is common to see penalty shooutouts ending with ridiculous scores, like 40-41)
- 30 or 40 corners conceded per game
- trying to sell a player is a chore, and the price tag absolutely random

Overall it's a simulation where you feel you have absolutely no control on what is happening.

The funniest bit is that most of these issues have been posted on the SI forums, just to be deleted by the staff who is pretty much censoring anything that proves them.

this game is not worth a penny, get the 2012 or 2013 version, not the best ones, but still playable.

For a true football simulation fan Football Manager 2014 is going to be a huge disappointment.
