New Build 1.25 - Bombardment Tuning

First, welcome to all the new players who have been trying the demo! Based on recent feedback I did some tuning on the comeback bombardment. The goal of the bombardment is to give you a chance if you made a mistake in the first minute or so of a match, but not be so powerful as to feel cheap later on. These changes hope to better achieve that.

Tuning:
  • Bombardment gets weaker later in the game
  • Bombardment takes longer after each time it is used to charge up
  • Changed bombardment UI to hopefully better indicate that you can aim it
  • Bombardment targeting tries to avoid friendly fire situations, also starts higher up

Let us know what you think!

Free Demo Released - Includes Multiplayer!

Want to play Cannon Brawl with your friends? We’ve released a free demo so your friends can try it out!

We want to get our multiplayer lobbies bursting with new people so you can always find opponents, whether you’re using our matchmaking system or inviting a friend. That’s why we’ve decided to open up the game for players to try it free.

To celebrate, we’re also putting on a sale this week. If you like what you see, you can get the full game for 40% off!

The free demo allows you to play skirmish games against the AI, unranked multiplayer, and you can accept invites to friend matches from owners of the full game. You’ll get one airship pilot and 5 war machines to try out.

The full game includes much more. It’s got a twenty mission campaign with boss battles, nightmare mode, tons more airship pilots and units to unlock, puzzle levels, and competitive ranked multiplayer.

A demo you say, so why is it called Free-To-Play?
A big part of Cannon Brawl is its intense multiplayer matches. We want demo players and owners of the full game to be able to fight each other in unranked multiplayer matches. With steam matchmaking, this ends up being called Free-To-Play. But for Cannon Brawl, you can think of it as a demo. There are no microtransactions or in game purchases. If you like the free demo, you can buy and enjoy the full game like you would with any other demo.

See you on the battlefield!

The Free Version is a Demo

To allow demo and full game players to play together on the same servers (which we hope you’ll have a blast doing) we had to categorize the demo as free, even though Cannon Brawl is not free-to-play. There are no micro-transactions or in game purchases.

The free demo allows you to play skirmish games against the AI, unranked multiplayer, and accept invites to friend matches from owners of the full game. You get one airship pilot and five war machines to try out. The full game includes a ton more, read on below to find out!

Cannon Brawl is a unique mixture of RTS and Action with a fun campaign as well as great local and online multiplayer. In Cannon Brawl you choose one of a number of different airships, each with their own pilot and special attributes, and you build turrets to destroy your enemy as well as defend your main building as well as towers and gold mines.

+Nice 2D graphics, very colourful
+Simple and easy-to-navigate world map where you can find the game's missions and challenges
+Unique gameplay, you can build towers anywhere on the map (as long as you have a nearby territory balloon) but choosing your tower locations strategically is very important
+You control each tower individually when firing and the aiming system is very good
+A wide variety of unique, as well as familiar, towers each with upgrades that can be purchased during missions to make the towers more powerful/more effective
+Five different airships to choose from
+Maps are fully destructible
+Good variety of map size
+Has singleplayer, online multiplayer and local multiplayer gamemodes
+Has challenges which can be completed to earn EXP and level your profile up
+Towers have reasonable/fair cooldown times
+Lots of explosions
+Has achievements and Trading Cards

+/-You can only equip five towers in each mission which can sometimes be quite annoying as you need good variety in your roster while keeping a good balance of tower costs
+/-It is clearly intended that you use a controlle

-I found it the singleplayer got repititive very quickly when playing singleplayer
-Some of the airship attributes are far more useful than others which effects the balance

Verdict:
7

A great RTS/Action game that delivers a great multiplayer experience but gets boring quite quickly in singleplayer, get it to play with friends.

Cannon Brawl, is a very good game.

it's fun. And will be more fun, if played with friend or family.

can improve your creativity, how to attack and penetrate your opponent defense,
while defense your own base from attack of your opponent

place your cannon carefull but fast, can make your adrenalin go up

I really enjoyed this game more than I thought. I originally got a copy extremely cheap from someone who had a few copies. I didn't think much of it, but figured I ~may~ enjoy it.

I was dead wrong, it is great fun and I highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of RTS / tower defense style games.

I instantly loved this game from the first round I played it. It's Starcraft meets Worms, in a very accessible and fun package. The design is top notch and has a ton of depth, I've tried all sorts of strategies and was surprised at how well some of them worked. Super awesome!

I first played an early version of this at PAX a few years ago and immediately fell in love! They've done a great job of creating a game that really mixes the traditionally more turn based projectile game with RTS elements that keep 100% of your attention focused for the whole game.

Even though it didn't really need it I enjoyed the single player campaign as a great way to learn about all the different towers and had fun writing.

Cannon Brawl is a RTS game with giant cannons. Who doesn't like giant cannons?

Basically the goal is to destroy your enemy's castle using a strategically chosen set of cannon types. Turtle Sandbox has given you a variety of methods and combinations of cannons that allows you to decide between decimating your enemy entirely, or (if you're like me) slowly wittling away the ground underneath your friend's castle, giving them a small gleam of hope. Of course, for them, there is none - something you illustrate by using your drill or laser cannon to knock out the remaining support below their castle, making your friend watch their base (and hopes) fall to its demise. It's sophisticatedly savage.

This is a great game on its own (campaign), but multiplayer is where it really shines. The number of combinations of cannons and tactics used by others is limitless and always different. If you were on the fence about it, get down and come shoot some cannons with me.

I really love the core concepts and art style of Cannon Brawl, I just wish more people were playing it!

Even with my hectic work schedule, I make sure I am playing this game at least once a week. It gives me my RTS fix without giving me the stress that Starcraft unloads on me.

Good game! I would love to see a tablet port of this game, if that's even possible. I would totally be kicking back on the couch with my iPad with this game :)

Great strategy game. If you like strategy, you won't be disappointed with Cannon Brawl. It's not the most in depth or the greatest, but it sure is fun, and there's really nothing else like it out there at the moment.

Early Access Review
A very addicting and well crafted game.

There aren't a lot of players online, so if you try to do ranked you will be mathched up vs either Gort or Watson, two ranked bots programmed into the game.

At first ranked will be easy as you climb the ladder, you only get a tiny amount of points for winningm but you lose billions of points for defeats, so If you play for an hour straight and only won, ONE DEFEAT WILL TAKE ALL OF IT AWAY.

Ranked needs to be fixed and ballancing might have to occur. Overall, there needs to be more players.

BUY THIS GAME but do yourself a favor and stay away from ranked until more people are active and the elo system is adjusted.

If you've ever liked the Worms franchise, this is deffinitely a step up. When I had just finished installing it for the first time and wanted to try it out, before I knew it an hour had passed.

9.2/10
This game was deffinitely entertaining to play. It's simple, fun, and it can be very addicting. The gameplay is fast, but the controls are really easy to get used to - especially if you play through the singleplayer campaign.

Very fun, highly recommend for same-screen competitive battling. Sort of a light RTS mixed with tower-trajectory style gameplay. It's not super deep but I easily got my time and money's worth.
