There is bigger discount compared when I bought this, so I taking risk for this software. I bought the 'articy:draft SE' and minutes after playing with it I decide to also bought the DLC 'Upgrade to articy:draft 2 SE'.

Yes, I still taking risk on how well this software can help me with my game design. I try to have zero refund reputation to Steam and I try not to break it.

So far the software has release my headache more than any medicine can do. I love it, just saving my times and I keep releasing lots of new ideas. Thankfully the software can handle it and the truth I still not using it's all features.

Love it !!!

I decided to rewrite my review to actually be a review.

So primarily: what is Articy, and who would want to use it?

Articy is a game and story design tool (operative word: design. There are some things you can do with the export tools, but it is for the most part an outlining tool, not an actual development tool.) used to outline and plan player/plot interactions and events. It can be used as broadly or as specific as is required for the project, and is flexible enough for just about any type of project.

The second question is one of the more common questions regarding high-priced software like this. Why would I want this for that price; what would it have to do for me to buy it at that price?

This is most certainly not for the average user. This is for something that has a lot of different assets that need to be organized in one concise place. For example, a story-rich game, or an asset-rich game, a visual novel, an elaborate tabletop game; even a regular novel can all be organized using this tool. If you think you yourself 'why do I need this if I can just use wordpad or openoffice/ms word?' when you read about this program, then your project isn't big enough to require software like this and you shouldn't buy it lest you waste $100-200 on something you'll never use.

The main issues, if you still feel this software might be useful to you, involve a lack of autosave (in the works, allegedly, but I'm pretty sure nevigo works on valvetime), some clunky ui features that take getting used to, and a somewhat poor asset interface that gets confusing when asset numbers get large; even just small thumbnails would be useful. The templates you use to define different aspects of items or characters could use with more effective design that makes it easier to customize parts of it.

Overall, if you need this software, then you'll know it. If you're not sold on the idea, then it's probably just not very useful for your purposes, and there's no point to buying it.

Definitely a fantastic weapon for your game development arsenal.

Articy:Draft 2 has been instrumental for helping develop a narrative driven game. Especially since it's thoroughly supported by other tools that I'm using down the pipeline (namely Dialogue System for Unity). That aside, as a foundation for creating Dialogue, Plot, and general Prototyping of the game nature Articy:Draft does it masterfully.

I'd highly recommend it for anyone who wants to craft a game, even if they're not heavily reliant on telling a story. It's great for rapidly putting down your ideas in various Flows to help concept what you're working on. If you are making a game where story and plot are essential, then Articy:Draft is a must.

The pricing can be confusing and on the expensive side, but it's cut down on a lot of hours of work that would have otherwise been spent muddling trying to achieve the same results that would have taken minutes in Articy:Draft to set up. Ultimately, it's cut the time spent on managing all the information. As an independant developer? Your time is highly valuable, which makes using Articy:Draft an invaluable resource.

If I knew about this application much earlier, I would have stopped trying to develop my own. Mine sucks, this rocks. Designing a game? This makes game design fun.
From Dialogue to flow, set multipaths and whatever else you imagine you need. Set up Global variables to test your game's timing and structure, and dynamics.

Me likey!

Great tool to develop a story!
I got the DLC update thanks to Black Friday and I'm pretty pleased with the improved features. Filling out the various categories with entities, characters and whatnot helps with the structure. I got a nice clear overview. I love the flow function, it's a life saver for interactive stories, since you can test out your variables.
Definitely a must for everyone passionate about storytelling :)
