Update 2.4 released!

Update 2.4 is the biggest free feature update for articy:draft 2 so far. It does not only contain the much-anticipated simulation mode, it also brings a whole bunch of major location editor improvements.

On top of that we also implemented feature requests from the community like the possibility to clone single-user projects and support for floating multi-user licenses. Besides many other bug fixes version 2.4 also improves the performance for editing text – providing you with a much smoother writing experience.

This software has been developed with great care and effort. At first I didn't really like it for planning out my game but now I've come back to test out the new features and I must say this software is awesome.

If you're a game studio or indie game developer then this software will help you to lay down and plan out your ideas. I recommend this gem.

Well done devs

Absolutely amazing software. I cannot comment on the SE version, as I have SE2. From what other people are saying, if you are really serious about requiring a very in-depth 'story-boarding' software with a whole host of additional features that can be utilised far beyond just games and stories, then get the upgrade; it will be invaluable.

Its versatility as a 'story-boarding' software is seemingly unlimited. I use this to write reports, plot stories, create a game before it has been made, create programming process trees (OOP), conduct and evaluate research, plan complicated sequences of componants for woodwork/metalwork/and the like, and the list goes on. Resource management at its finest!

It's an easily accessible professional software that has a pleasing GUI, Articy:SE 2 removes the need for 3-4-5+ drab looking "functional" software, and combines them into something that is pleasing on the eye and a pleasure to work within.

Definitely a fantastic weapon for your game development arsenal.

Articy:Draft 2 has been instrumental for helping develop a narrative driven game. Especially since it's thoroughly supported by other tools that I'm using down the pipeline (namely Dialogue System for Unity). That aside, as a foundation for creating Dialogue, Plot, and general Prototyping of the game nature Articy:Draft does it masterfully.

I'd highly recommend it for anyone who wants to craft a game, even if they're not heavily reliant on telling a story. It's great for rapidly putting down your ideas in various Flows to help concept what you're working on. If you are making a game where story and plot are essential, then Articy:Draft is a must.

The pricing can be confusing and on the expensive side, but it's cut down on a lot of hours of work that would have otherwise been spent muddling trying to achieve the same results that would have taken minutes in Articy:Draft to set up. Ultimately, it's cut the time spent on managing all the information. As an independant developer? Your time is highly valuable, which makes using Articy:Draft an invaluable resource.

Okay so I have used this program for a while now and I can say its superb. I use it for developing my games and for writing my novel and it does pretty much everything I want. Its excelent at helping to plan out whatever you are doing. You can start anywhere within the program (personaly I start by writing notes in the documents section) and create entities like characters, weapons, places, ships or anything else you consider of importance and needs lots of info thats all about that one thing. Then you can create a location using a combination of photoshop and in app elements you can create a rough or detailed idea of how a level or environment will look. It can even be used to plan out menues and the such which is very usefull for swift ideas that you just want to have down for later refinement. The Flows section is where it becomes interesting. When you are writing a series of conversations or speach choices, this is where this program excells, you can create a simple question with many possible answers and each answer can take you to a different responce or a single one, its up to you.

The possibilities that you have within this program are limited by your imagination and design abilities. I would recomend attempting to use stock images or temp images as much as possible it helps to bring each part to life and when you can see your characters it helps the creative juices to flow.(this program does NOT create images but uses ones you already have)

So in round up, if you are looking for a planning program to help keep all your ideas and thoughts in one organised and easy to navigate location then this is what you want. Its not cheap but if you are serious about writing or developing then I would highly recomened the financial output and get this program. If you are just messing around and want to create a small game and are creating it of the top of your head or with a small amount of notes then there is little point spending the money.

p.s. This is based on using v2. V1 has many of the features that v2 has however its text abilities are considerably reduced, so I would always recomend going for V2
