“La Mulana delivers on a fun, challenging and rewarding exploration experience that is presented with polish.”
Greenlit Gaming

"Beyond the seemingly insurmountable wall of challenge, La-Mulana is a brilliant title that exceeds in just about every category. Art, music, breadth of content, game length -- La-Mulana gets the highest marks. But there's simply no denying that the difficulty, as fair as Nigoro purports it to be, is a major deterrent. If you are willing to suffer, though, you will be blown away. I guarantee it."
8/10 – Destructoid

"Nigoro’s La-Mulana is like Castlevania: Symphony of The Night spliced with Dark Souls. It is long, it is tough, it is involved and it has puzzles that’ll make your brain bleed."
93/100 – Indie Game Mag

"I look back on my time with La-Mulana with plenty of frustration at the challenging platforming, enemies, bosses, and puzzles. But I’m also amazed at the time, thought, and talent that went into creating this experience. There may never be another game like La-Mulana."
8.5/10 – Game Informer

Über dieses Spiel

LA-MULANA is an “Archaeological Ruin Exploration Action Game,” bringing the classic appeal of adventure with the punishing difficulty of retro-inspired gaming. Search inside ancient ruins, seeking out the “Secret Treasure of Life” – which sleeps in the sprawling ruins of “LA-MULANA” and is said to be the beginning of all civilization. Unfortunately, priceless artifacts very rarely give themselves up easily.

Apart from the plethora of traps lying in wait, there are also monsters on the prowl, protecting the ruins. Head for the innermost depths of the ruins while solving a variety of mysteries, fending off monsters, and disarming traps. Forging ahead will be no simple task – the further into the depths you reach, the more difficult the mysteries become. The guardians of LA-MULANA do not take their job lightly.

LA-MULANA on Steam is the PC port version of the acclaimed remake for WiiWare. One of the first NIGORO games, LA-MULANA was originally created back in the creators’ “amateur” days and has been renown worldwide.
This game was created based on “that old-time feeling.” The creators wished to play the sort of games that enthralled them back in the day, only with more volume. The operability and difficulty level are certainly not “new school”. However, this game is highly recommended to gamers seeking out that feeling of total immersion that allows you to go full-on head-to-head with a game not found in somewhat lighter terms.

Coming up on it's ninth birthday, LA-MULANA continues to captivate, frustrate and annihilate new and old players alike. Whether it's your first time falling into the ruins or your 900th of getting decimated by Mushussu, we thank you for donning your explorer's hat, hoisting the whip and diving into our game.

Good luck. You're going to need it.

I could write ten thousands of walls of text to describe how amazing this game is.

The game keeps crashing on the final boss.
Truly, one of La-Mulana's most fiendish puzzles.

Ein Geniestreich in Leveldesign.
Schwer, erstmal unübersichtlich, aber dann sehr belohnend.

great, but brutally difficult. try to resist the urge to consult guides and instead think like the archaeologist you play as; write everything down as you progress and piece it all together.

It may be just the thing if your into Indiana Jones, finding crazy and mythical creatures that simply boggles the mind. Falling into traps and nearly making it out by the skin of your teeth.

La-Mulana is BALLS HARD and it is not for those who don't know how to stay on track or easily lost. Take notes people or if you fail at that. Play a guide....That is if you ever get stumped. This game does not hold your hand and you shouldn't expect it to. Your a professor. An Archeologist. A professional....Well, not as Professional as your dad but you will get there in time.

Collect relics across your journey deep within the ruins. Power your character up by destroying enemies and collecting green orbs left behind. Only way to heal a wounded adventurer in this game is a one simple hotspring and trust me. If your a newbie at this game. You bet your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ that its going to be the #1 spot to go to when your one hit away from death.

Also don't be ashamed at saving alot. You are going to have to. You see further into the game about 30 mins in you would get your first relic that lets you teleport to the Save Points Tablets hidden throughout the game. That too will be a helpful item to have.

Also...Melbruk is a hottie. Even if she is older then you by a millenia.

Gave up at what is probably the halfway point. It's balls-difficult and the puzzles are maddeningly obscure. Somehow, it's all still charming enough to make it a good time for awhile, but eventually I just stopped. I'll probably come back to it at some point, but it is only recommended with reservations. Sixty-ish hours in and I feel like I've barely scratched the surface.

You'll do everything you can not to Google solutions to tough spots... then you'll break down and do it anyway. Then you'll quit for long enough that you can't even remember where you left off and it becomes difficult to even use Google to cheat.

You'll genuinely love it. Until it breaks you. Then you'll still feel like saying nice things about it, but you may not want to play anymore. Recommended for the smartest folks in the room and people who absolutely hate themselves.

This is a metroidvania-ish game big on puzzles, especially that span many distant screens as the game goes on to solve. An unknown combination of bad translations and/or insane developers make a large part of this game ridiculous to solve without a walkthrough. Only play this if you're the kind of person that likes The Silmarillion kind of acadmic exploration of a fantasy world.

bought it on steam sale for ~ 5€... looked really nice on the pictures.... kind of the old "rick dangerous" on amiga system.... so i thought a kinda remake... and overall positive ratings.... so i bought it...
got disappointed really bad!!! totally NOT worth the money! no fun at all... dont even know what to do or where to go... buttons / controls (even that u can change them) are horrible! first u walk in 1 of 2000 tents, where there are 1000 shops or some text passages and blabla... then walk around without sense.... flying enemys kill you.... cant to anything against it... 2 "deaths" and its game over... start from beginning..... u cant walk pass / through some specific walls / cliffs, but u dont really see which / why... so overall.... if its in sale for maybe -90% so ~ 1 eur u can give it a try if u still want it... but for 5 or even 8?10? when its not on sale NEVER !!!!
