This is a Gem! A tactical turned based Rpg with tons of spells and skills. The fights r amazing as hard too, u can play with the elements found on screen like use a lightning bold on a surface of water it will cause the creature standing on it to be stuned. Has a lot of that to discover + rich story with very cool ending. Side quests r many and a challenge as well cause some of them require puzzle solving, reading books and have a keep eye to spot clues. Game is HUGE took me a while I totaly recommend it. It can be slow paced so if u looking for an action style rpg this isnt it, otherwise u will love it :)

Divinity Original Sin is a great Crpg made by Larian Studios. The story takes place in a fantasy world, Rivellon, like the rest of the franchise. The two main protagonists are source hunters, but there is more to them than meets the eye. And little do they know of the importance of a quest they must undertake that will affect the world. Like in all grand epics the source hunters start off with a routine murder case, and what they discover that day will change them.

The story in Divinity Original Sin is one full of twists and turns that will not disappoint. This game has a plethora of colorful characters/villains that will make you both laugh and cry. Your companions (if you choose to have them), have plenty of well thought out backgrounds. Their sidequests tie well with their stories and are entertaining. The game may have a few misspellings here and there but has plenty of depth worthy of your attention.

The graphics and art of Divinity Original Sin are top notch. You are also hit with enjoyable music that sets the tone on your adventures. When you start playing, you are immediately immersed by the beauty of this world. It is a welcomed sight to have so many well placed details in this game. But don't take my word for it, let us "Rock-paper-scissors" it.

The difficulty of this game is to my liking. There will be plenty of quicksaves and quickloads that will go throughout your many battles. There are puzzles that you will spend hours on and will say, "Oh, that's where the switch was the whole time." Yes people, using different fields of view will be your best friend on this journey. In Fact lest I forget, the game also encourages using the field to your advantage during battles.

This is one gem that I would recommend to friends and family alike. I hope the people in the steam community who haven't played this game or have just given up on it, will give Divinity Original Sin the chance it rightly deserves. This game will not lead you by the hand, and you will appreciate it all the more for solving/winning the game under your own power.

Happy gaming.

For a game in which the player controls tiny people from above, this game is wonderfully full of individual characters and potential errors of judgement- it has little restriction on areas above character level and even minor canine characters are chamingly motivated to help or hinder. This is a game to enjoy fast or slow and I recommend it even to those who dislike this style of gameplay.

Nevertheless, while the Divinity: Original Sin - clearly the main contender for the title of the best RPG of the year. And certainly this is one of the brightest representatives of the genre of the last five-year period. The Belgians found the almost perfect combination of classic and fresh, interesting details, and availability of hardcore, drama and comedy.

Pros: interesting story; the abundance of non-linear quests; moral choices; rich role-playing and combat systems; almost complete freedom of action; co-op mode with a system of joint dialogues; nice graphics and awesome music.
Cons: there are holes in the balance sheet; the game still need to patch.

What a game! The gameplay is great, the music is great and the story is fantastic. This kind of game is for those who really like table-top RPG's brought to life in a video game! I had a few issues figuring out a couple things early on(crafting, smithing, etc), but after the first 3 hours I was really hooked on this series so much that I went and bought Divine Divinity afterwords. 9/10

I've always been an extreme enthusiast of the old BioWare top-down rpg Baldur's Gate, and any of those close to me know this. Once upon a time my friend started playing this game and heard it was similar to Baldur's Gate, and knowing me he immediately bought me a copy of Divinity Original Sin.

One of the best gifts I have ever received. I never thought a top-down rpg could be considered next-gen in 2014 but just about every feature in this game is astounding. spectacular graphics, although the models are a bit cartoony.

The Turn based combat was the only part of the game that qualifies as dissappointing, but it was very well done, and very tactical and dynamic, and I enjoyed it.

The story is incredible, it's pretty lengthy so you get to enjoy it for a while, and it's very suspenseful and mysterious, with some great, creative and unexpected twists. A very interesting feature is how you role-play as two characters, which adds fun to multiplayer if you decide to co-op the game. Your two main characters are often confronted with difficult decisions and they debate about them and the way they interact with eachother impacts the game moving forward. And the overall theme of the story is very creative, and is definitely superior to the average RPG story theme of "the bad guy wants to watch the world burn and you are going to stop him."

Gameplay is very, very good, lots of puzzles, riddles and quests that I found both extremely difficult, but also extemely fun to solve. Some of the quests, like solving the murder in Cyseal at the beginning of the game, were so lengthy and so difficult that I felt like a real master mind detective after finishing them. Character building is very good, a lot involved in planning and strategizing your 4 party memebers and optimizing their capabilities and strengths and weaknesses. The game has a very well made, and extensive crafting system as well, but I would recommend not using it extensively because I made a lot of epic equipment for my party and it made the game too easy for me.

The game world is very well made, aided by the interesting story, and amazing graphics. The world is very interesting due to the creativity of the way the 4 different very large areas are layed out and contain different environments (desert, forest, plains, city, mountains, etc.). And the many different kinds of enemies and monsters you encounter throughout the world, and last but not least, the world is very large, it took me roughly 100 hours to explore the whole game plus the essential main storyline areas.

Last but not least, probably my favorite single feature from this game, was the music. Music adds so much enjoyment to a videogame, and this is one of the best videogame soundtracks I've heard. Personally it has, in general, the best roaming music and the best combat tracks (which added even more enjoyment to the somewhat dissappointing turn-based combat) of any game I've played. This soundtrack is one of the most extensive soundtracks of any game I've heard, there's A LOT of songs, so the roaming music and combat tracks don't really repeat a whole lot, and all of them are really good.

In conculsion, this game is a masterpiece, it probably would have gotten game of the year instead of Dragon Age Inquisition if it was released on console before 2014, but regardless, anyone who enjoys rpgs should give this one a try. And most who like rpgs are garunteed to love this game.

I'll be honest - I've had my doubts about this game. I've played all previous Divinity games and each and every one of them felt both genuine and somehow unfinished, as if all of them had a missing part which prevented me from getting real fun from them.
Well, it seems Larian finally found this part and put it into its place. The game is absolutely adorable, interesting and fun, a well-made piece of art which is totally worth my time and money.
If you're looking for good old-school-like RPG - you just found it.

I would totally give this game a 9 out of 10 or even 9+.... But because of one lil thing i simply cant... I mean rock paper scissors games... Seriously, what were they thinking? I just spent like 20 minutes to play this mini game over and over.
And the worst part is that actually i had better chance for winning (at least thats what game said) 5:3.

Since there is no neutral reviews on steam, ima go give this game a thumb up anyways.

My opinion is an overall a 6/10 because:

-Story: Story was interesting and the means of progression was interesting, but it wasnt dynamic nor was it really world immersive. It didnt stand out, nor was it something worth coming back to. It wasnt bad though. 5.5/10

-Gameplay: Typically the gameplay was good but there was elements the game lacked in. The crafting system is poorly built, and the organizational layout is easily cluttered making so that you'll spend a fair amount of time doing inventory management, Combat usually turned from progressing through areas steadily until facing bosses who's difficulty would prove extraordinarily harder, to the point that i'd leave to go elsewhere. That said, killing a finite number enemies provided makes it so that obtaining additional leveling is difficult. The companions are best of being additional firepower, and i found them usefull primarily for that and carrying extra things. 5/10

-Graphics: Unremarkable, but still good. The dynamics and lighting is a highlight, buts its fairly standard for what you pay.7/10

-Sound: 7/10 The sound effects are great, The music is immersive and the sounds of the enemies and combat as well as magic is also original.

Overall: For the price of the game, its below my par in my opinion, The gameplay doesnt carry well enough to keep you involved and the combat turns from steady into a death-slog of finding cheap ways to kill bosses that otherwise overpower you. Assuming you enjoy the world without only following the main story, you'll likely find yourself strung up by a world that becomes confusing to unravel, or facing enemies that are overwhelminingly powerful. Despite the 92 hours i put in, i ended up dropping it. I've often contemplated returning to finish it, but quickly become as lost as i was when i left off.

I remember the time that me and my friend came across these two sick and dying patients in a doctor's house. The nurse there had a healing stone, but it had only enough charge to cure one of the patients.

The other would die.

We realised this was no light choice. We had these two people lives in our hands, and one of them was about to slip away.

We spent the next few minutes gathering information about both of these people. Anything that might help us decide.

The answer became clearer.

I figured we should save the man with a family, who is well loved and respected around the town. I was, in fact, surprised to learn that my friend felt differently. He though that we should save the young travelling merchant because he "liked the way he looked".

How arbitrary.

It seemed we weren't going to reach an agreement. It seems we would have to agree to disagree and then leave it up to the flip of a coin to see who to save.

But my friend wasn't content with that.

He drew his bow and walked right up to the older man's bed and threatened to shoot unless we did things his way.

I knew he wasn't bluffing.

Unwilling to compromise for the sake of a merchant without a family who risked his life every time he left the town gates, I knocked my friend to the ground, thereby eliminating the immediate threat he posed.

I had only a few moments to convince him to do this the fair way... But I failed.

We both knew I had superior equipment, and so I hoped that would deter my friend from attacking me. The problem was that he would do anything to get his way most times, and I knew this.

And so we fought.

"Don't make me do this!"
"I'm not."
"If you keep trying to kill that man, I'll have no choice!"
"Just let him die! He's useless!"
"Stop it! I don't want to have to waste another resurrection scroll on you, but if you die I'll be the only one to make the call!"
"You wouldn't do that!"
"And why not? Besides, your guy still has a chance to live! As big a chance as my guy!"
"Ok! Ok... You have a point. We'll do it the "fair" way."

Relief! I had convinced him. It was a lucky thing, too. He was on the ground, about to die.

We played a game of scissors paper rock. Honestly... I cheated. We were in the same room and I waited to hear the sound effect that indicated which option he chose. He didn't notice and I didn't tell him until the ordeal was over.

And so the well-known, loved and respected man was the one who was healed. I could tell my friend was annoyed but his clutching his hair and saying "No!"

And that was that.

Except it wasn't.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing... The man was just about to walk out of the house when my friend shot him! He didn't die immediately, but I knew I couldn't stop him this time. Even if I killed him, I'd just be wasting a resurrection scroll... My friend wouldn't stop until the other man was dead.

And so I said "Fine!"

I drew my dagger and went to the side of the other man's bed. I thrust the dagger down once, twice, and it was over. There was blood all over the floor, and all over the bed. We looked at each other. "You monster..." I said.

And then we burst out into laughter.

Mean Mr. Mustard's short Divinity: Original Sin (Classic) review

1) Essential - buy it NOW
2) Recommended - buy it on sale
3) Avoid

Time to complete – 72 hours including the majority of the side quests
Played multiplayer? No
Worth revisiting? No, I don't find replaying a 70+ hour game appealing but the first time through is very good

Best part – The spell system is fantastic, particularly the combo spells, launching a fireball at a poison cloud to create an explosion for example
Worst part – Big time investment, however, if you have the time, well worth it

This was a present from my Friend, we played it Multi-player.

This was the first time I had played anything remotely like this game, I was out of my depth. I let my Friend lead. It was going swimingly, we'd explored a beach, found a giant talking clam and fed it, and then had ended up at the town gates. I said i'd take the lead as I had more perception and I could see which way to lead the conversation, this seemed like a good idea as the two guards were completely trollied.

Oh dear is all I can say. They ended up dead, and we ended up with a cheesewheel and a cook book. I have no idea how it ended up like this. My Friend was laughing so hard at the outcome that I thought he was going to wet himself. Literally.
We got into the town and everything seemed to be back on track, we were making headway with the quest and we'd racked up a bit of money. Now it was time to interview a suspect, seeing how it went last time with my attempt, I didn't volunteer. It was going great until my Friend killed the guy.

"He had information we needed, why the f%&* did you kill him?"
"He was annoying me and not telling the truth."
"So we go out and find more evidence, then come back and talk to him again."
"Nah this was easier, plus we can loot the place now."

My Character was too moral and didn't want to loot, so I left to talk to more people in the town. I thought I had another lead until my Friend asked if I could bail him out of Jail. He tried to sell the looted items, got caught, tried to fight the Police, failed and was in Jail. I didn't have enough gold to bail him out so we had to restart from the previous save point. Oops!

Pros:
The most unique part of this game is the fact that you can change the outcome of the storyline and quests by what you say in conversations or by what you chose to say. Sometimes, this works wonders and you can make a shy person open up to you with important information or you can calm down an angry drunk to avoid a fight.

The dialogue is hilarious, each little joke, each innuendo just made it for me. I especially loved the animal to human dialogue.

You can do almost anything you want! You can murder people, you can steal from people, you can wander around aimlessly. You can even use your partner as a distraction and go into places you aren't allowed in.

The combat system is neat. I found it easy to understand (especially considering this was my first attempt at this genre) and I was actually pretty decent at it. I could combine attacks to create terrain that would cause effect damage to enemies when they entered it. This made it easier to defeat enemies higher levels than us.

The asthetics of the game are beautiful too, I felt genuinely immersed in every area I went into and I really appreciate the level of detail that went into it. In every field, you can see tones of the green/yellow grass depending on which way the sun is in the games sky. You can see shadows in the water which are fish or other objects.

Cons:
It was a lot of trial and error. I think we restarted the save a few dozen times as we'd managed to ruin it and promptly fail our quest.

I'm putting the combat system here too, because you do have to plan out your moves accordingly. I had to think about 3 steps ahead to ensure I could defeat the enemies, or I had to run.

Divinity: Original Sin (Classic) is a beautiful role playing game featuring strategic turned based party combat in an imaginative medieval setting, all while introducing you to a unique dual-dialouge system between 2 heroes you create at the beginning of the game and play through the game with.

What is a "Dual-Dialogue" System? Imagine playing the game as 2 characters, you prioritize one character as your main character, so you think for him/her and make decisions for them on their behalf but there is what makes it different from other role playing games - your secondary character has a say in your choices, they can agree with you or disagree with you and if they disagree with you, then that choice can change the out come of the quest or the storyline as a whole. You cannot control them but they may change the mind of an npc for example which may make you angry. So think of it as simulating playing co-op with a real human and being able to communicate with them on making choices throughout the game's timeline. Similar to old school dungeons and dragons pen and paper games in that respect.

I feel that is one of the game's main selling features as it makes the game very unique.

The graphics of Divinity: Original Sin are beautiful, it's a modern looking rpg with an old soul and it reflects on the art style it possesses. I love Larian for this.

A stealth element. The game features alot of sneaking, lock-picking and diversions. I found it very entertaining to find I could enter a shop with one character, start a conversation with the shop owner and while in mid-conversation, switch to the other character and sneak in to steal weapons and other items because the shop owner was distracted.  Small things like this make me really enjoy this game.

The combat is difficult but fair. You must think about your moves ahead of time of you want to survive. Know when to preserve energy or run.

The storyline doesn't take itself to seriously, there are animals to talk to and alot of moments that might make you laugh out loud. There is alot of depth here though.

This game features crafting. You can craft items such as different kinds of arrows. So if you are a lovecraftian, you will feel at home here. But don't worry you don't HAVE to craft there is tons of items already in the game as well.

To close this review before I keep talking about how great this game is all morning long, this game has everything you might want from a western rpg, mixing modern gameplay aesthetics wiith old-school traits of the genre as well. It's a great game I think any rpg fan will enjoy!

The Larian sense of humor is not for everyone. It goes beyond the narratives in the game and extends to 'practical jokes' in the game mechanisms. Where some may find scenes 'charming' I often found them irritating. Where some may find OP enemies 'challenging' I simply thought they were filler forcing the player to waste a lot of time seperating mobs to pick them off one by one. My playtime here is not long because it wasn't much fun. The character builder was joyless. The 'crafting system' was a migraine. Presumably if you persevere and get out of the first town the game should improve. After all this, why a thumbs up? Because we have a duty as gamers to taste all the fruit in the garden. Just because I didn't enjoy it doesn't mean you won't.

Good! Great! GRAND! WONDERFUL!

NO YELLING ON THE BUS!

Depressing that Steam has to let me know how many hours of my life are wasted.

Form the Apple II to Commodore to Amiga to PC and consoles, glad they don't have that total.

Great game, graphics, fun, witty, but tired old DnD storyline. Good guy comes in and defeats evil and saves the world.
