Update Version 1.0.177

Hi all,

For the recent Mac OS update 10.9.5, we have released a hotfix that solves signature issues.

We seized this opportunity to also fix the combat log disappearing for some of you, and fix jumping journal entries.

If you load a savegame in which the combat log was gone, you may have to drag it above the skillbar to be able to resize it again.

On the Mac version, the GodRays effect was distorted and this was fixed as well.

Hi everybody,

In anticipation of the launch of the new companion DLC (which will be free for everyone) here is a new update which will further improve the game.

The most notable improvements are the new listening functionality for dialogs when playing in cooperative multiplayer, a big layer of polish on the spell and skill effects and a number of bugfixes. Please note that the new companions will only be available after installing the free DLC (to be released later today) and can only be accessed when starting a new game.

Code:

  • Added listening functionality to dialogs. Now you can listen to ongoing dialogs and see the complete history to better follow what is being said.
  • Fixed issue with logging for cooperative dialogs
  • A lot of fixes for savegames that refused to load
  • Sheath/Unsheath fixed timing of attachment of shields.
  • Rare crash fix in specific script calls
  • Rare crash fix in extinguish surface action
  • Fading objects and fog triggers now work for all players instead of just the local player.

  • The Orcs in the game now have extra foley sounds including a huge roar, a sobbing orc and a really gross ‘buttscratch’…

MAC Specific:
This update brings all Mac tweaking options into a single place. In order to use it you have to hold 'Command' key on game startup.
The new launcher has options to:
  • Don't show any OS X notification popups while in game. They won't even blink.
  • Disable Touch Support if you feel like it
  • Quickly click on OS X Path control to discover your saves directory
  • Temporarily switch game to windowed mode
  • Precisely track mouse and trackpad gestures and taps
  • Disable hardware fade and gamma effects
  • Enable OpenGL performance tweaks and a heap of assorted workarounds

Divinity Engine Editor:
  • Fixed some problems that existed when loading mods
  • Fixed some memory leaks
  • Added info when trying to save terrain that is not editable
  • Fixed saving new story items
  • Fixed story editor crash
  • Fixed crash when entering game mode
  • Fixed position of camera when switching between cameras

In Divinity: Original Sin you take on the role of a young Source Hunter: your job is to rid the world of those who use the foulest of magics. When you embark on what should have been a routine murder investigation, you suddenly find yourself in the middle of a plot that will rattle the very fabric of time.

Na hru jakou je Divinity: Original Sin jsem čekal od dob Baldur's Gate II. Pro mě jako fanouška tradičních CRPG to bylo téměř 100 hodin (!) absolutní radosti z hraní při probdělých nocích, díky oné návykové hratelnosti, kterou jsem dobrých 10 let nezažil. Hra vás nevede za ruku, nic vám nedaruje a cestu k dalšímu postupu v příběhu a k řešení situací či soubojů si musíte hledat sami a velice často je těch cest více. Ač se k přirovnání nabízí třeba právě Baldur's Gate, tak hra má v DNA především kultovní Ultimu VII. Prostředí a předměty ve světe je totiž plně interaktivní, s čímž budete muset počítat jak při řešení úkolů a hádanek, tak i soubojích a tyhle možnosti si na hře brzy zamilujete... Když váš kouzelník znehybní celou skupinu nepřátel jedním bleskem seslaným do kaluže, kterou jste na místě před tím sami vytvořili dešťovým kouzlem, načež promoklé nešťastníky zmrazíte ledovou sprškou. Tyto možnosti však má k dispozici samozřejmě i nepřítel a kromě leckdy nelehkých tahových soubojů si užijete také s všudypřítomnými pastmi. *click*

Divinity: Original Sin je rozsahem opravdu obr plný předmětů (včetně craftingu), NPC, skillů, kouzel, perků... začátek pro vás může být krušný, než se v tom všem zorientujete a zvyknete si na herní mechanismy, ale jakmile vás hra pohltí, těžko od ní budete odcházet.
Co bych chtěl vyzdvihnout jsou skvěle napsané dialogy, které srší humorem, který je Larianům vlastní. Samotná hlavní příběhové linka pak sice není nijak zvlášť originální, ale i díky zmíněným dialogům a zajímavým postavám budete mít určitě o motivaci postaráno.
Samotný hráč se pak ujímá od začátku hned dvou postav, které i mezi sebou v průběhu hry diskutují příběhová rozhodnutí a události a ne každý na ně může mít stejný názor, zvlášť když máte možnost pozvat do hry spoluhráče, který váš protějšek převezme. Kooperační mód jsem však zatím neměl možnost vyzkoušet. Dá se však předpokládat, že jeho síla se ukáže i v hráčských rozšířeních, která budou moci být až pro čtyři hráče. Moderům je k dispozici komplexní editor a Steam Workshop pro snadné sdílení obsahu, takže se snad, podobně jako dříve třeba u Neverwinter Nights, můžeme dočkat zajimavých počinů.

Je tedy na Original Sin vůbec něco špatně? Tedy možná trochu nešikovná kamera, která vám místy hledání tajných spínačů na zdech moc neulehčuje. Hře by také slušel denní/noční režim, měnící se počasí,.. což původně i bylo v plánu. Běžné NPC pak v rozhovorech a chování moc nereflektují změny v ději či vaše skutky a pokud jste třeba první velké město prolezli skrz na skrz, nemá se tam v pozdějších fázích hry moc smysl vracet. Tohle jsou však detaily, které by tuto hru mohly přiblížit dokonalosti... Chyby, které by vám vyloženě kazily herní zážitek, jsem osobně nezaznamenal.

Divinity: Original Sin mohu tedy hodnotit pouze s nadšením. Larian Studios vytvořili hru s takovou péčí a láskou k žánru, jaká se dnes už vidí velice vzácně. To vše i za pomoci Kickstarteru, který dává možnost vývojářům dělat i takto velké hry bez závislosti na publisherech a bez nutností přizpůsobit hratelnost širší veřejnosti, aby byla komerčně zajímavější...
Mám radost, že hra se na Steamu i měsíc po vydání stále drží mezi nejprodávanějšími tituly. Tento projekt tak dokazuje, že po hrách s tradiční hratelností je stále hlad a tyto tituly mohou mít úspěch jak u kritiky, tak u hráčů... a Wasteland 2 s Pillars of Eternity již za humny... Hamsters and RPG gamers everywhere rejoice!

The short version:
Divinity: Original Sin aims to be a modern day Ultima 7 and is reminiscent of many of the older games in the genre, it will make many of you who did like games such as Baldurs Gate II and Planescape Torment very happy indeed, especially if you also like turn based tactical combat. Players will be able to create a team, make choices and see how the consequences of their actions bear out.

The long version:
This is a game with little to no hand holding and it does not insult your intelligence by making this game accessible to your five year old sister, no this game is a deep tactical turn-based RPG experience. Not only will you have freedom over your choices in the story (consequences and choices, even disagreements, will affect how things go), but also in how you get there.

You will be forced to interact with the world and speak to the people in it to gain information and quests, this is especially true as there are no exclamation marks over their heads telling you that this person is important or that they have information you need. It's also a game that rewards exploration, should you be careless enough you could find yourself completely missing out on certain quests. You can even kill most npc's in the game should you wish to do so (with the exception of a very few plot specific ones), but be careful of what you decide to do, there will be consequences for your actions.

There will be puzzles, lots of traps and mysteries to solve and interesting ways to approach many of the quests, you have the freedom to go wherever you want and the areas/monsters -wont- scale to your level, meaning you could die a very horrible death by exploring too far when you are low level. You could also be very skillful with the items/weapons at hand and somehow actually kill that level four troll while you are just a meager level two knight.

Being a rogue is especially fun as you can steal nearly everything, including snatching paintings off the walls, pick pocketing their weapons or even keys to their homes for a later "visit". Stealth is also very viable when stealing, but be careful, if you are caught people will dislike you and that will affect prices and information you can get, eventually you will be thrown into jail. Once there your partner can either come and bust you out or... well.. i wont spoil the surprise for you, suffice to say that there are more ways than one to get out of jail.

Party-based turn-based combat will encourage players to shape and control the game's environments, and to discover and utilize various skill and spell combos that you can choose for your party members

But the best part is the superb co-op experience, gone are the days when only player 1 gets to decide upon important decisions. You can both talk to any and all npcs and you both take part in dialogues during important events or with certain npcs, and should you two disagree on how to resolve a quest or dialogue you can have your characters argue over it. They will also react to certain things, for example, if you steal something your partner can start up a dialogue with you to either condone your actions or condemn them.

As to not spoil anything in the game this example is merely fiction and not present in the game. (Not to my knowledge at least)

example: You find a valuable gem on the beach and player 1 wants to sell it while player 2 wants to try and find the owner of it, stating that its immoral to take such a valuable object from someone who obviously dropped it.

Player one then gets a few different dialogue options to try and talk some sense into the other player's character, he can choose between a string of diffrent types of retorts and some might be intimidate, persuade, charm etc. After he has chosen his retort player two can choose a counter argument and will utilize the skill you chose and a game of rock, paper, scissors will commence, you will utilize the skillpoints in that particular skill you choose to gain an advantage over your friend in this game.

Depending on the outcome it will either be in favor of your decision or not, this will also give you points in various personality traits such as romantic or pragmatic depending on what you choose to say and these points will net you bonuses to your personality and other skills. Also it can be quite possible to make the two characters hate/love each other in the end.

This went on far longer than i intended so i will end this here by saying that the game is great and hopefully it will stay as amazing as it is now throughout the whole game (currently playing through it). Also, im Swedish so my english and grammar is not perfect, apologies for that.

Takhle by to šlo! RPG trvalka s neolodatelnými tahovými bitvami je hrou, co vám sežere dny na posezení. Žádné vození za ruku, žádné aktivní body na mapě - tady si musíte najít svoji cestu sami. Bacha na laxní úvod, zamilování se dostaví až po prvotním rozkoukání se. Old-school. Tak akorát.

Nádherný propracovaný prequel ze světa Rivellonu. Lariani opět dokázali, že se dá vytvořit velmi nádherné tahové RPG se silným příběhem, cooperací a humorem. Doporučuji!

Excelent game, do not let the turn based combat turn you away from it, it is fun and intriguing. Graphics are beatiful and colourful and story is fairly good as well. It can be a bit overwhelming at times, especially when you start the game or enter a new area and the game does not much to help you, but it is not that big a deal. Deffinately worth buying for RPG fans :)
