About This Game

What happens when DLC practices go too far? An indie developer makes a game that mocks the industry and its foibles, that's what! Defeat the bad guy, save the world and get the girl! But first you'll need to find coins to buy DLC to enable animation, sound and even pausing.

Thankfully this is just satire and all the DLC is purchased with in-game coins. But consider it a cautionary tale for the future...

Key Features:

  • Two full length campaigns: the original award-winning "DLC Quest", and the brand new "Live Freemium or Die"
  • Platforming action! Coins to collect, a princess to save, a bad guy (or two) to defeat. You like that stuff, right?
  • Over 30 different DLC packs, each providing quiet introspection on the state of the gaming industry
  • Over 20 achievements to earn and make you feel reasonably satisfied with yourself
  • Online leaderboards

IMPORTANT NOTE: You do NOT need to pay real cash to buy any in-game DLC.

This game is all about ridiculing the bad DLC-hell trend in gaming industry. Everything in game is about DLC. For starters, when you start the game, you will have to "purchase" the DLC to jump, and even the DLC to pause.

The plot is simple, kill a boss, save a girl. You do so by jumping platforms to platforms collecting coins, and spend them to purchase DLCs that unlock extra quest or items to proceed the game.

The graphics and musics are simple, cute and colorful. The stages are easy, but some coins and DLC packages are well hidden, you might need to spend some time finding them.

For achievement hunters, all the achievements are easily obtainable. Except the 2 speed runs that requires a lot of practise (or just save-hack it).

A very short game featuring a very small world. You could finish this game within an hour. It was fun while it lasted. :D

I wish this game release more campaigns as DLCs.

My score: 10/10 (Buy it on sale!)

Firstly, an important note - you do not spend real money on the DLC within the game, it is "purchased" using the coins you collect in game.

The game does a great job at poking fun at the recent trend of fremium games where you need to pay to really get anywhere or games with a lot of DLC that add features that should really have been in the main launch. I'll not spoil what the DLC is, as this is probably the most fun aspect of your playthrough. Things are taken to extremes where you will not be able to progress until you've collected enough coing to buy the correct DLC.

You'll defintely find yourself smirking at the absurdity of it all and you'll be pulled in by the uniqueness of a game that purposely blocks your progress until you "buy" DLC.

It's good for a quick laugh but don't expect an expansive game that will keep you going for more than a few hours.
