About This Game

What happens when DLC practices go too far? An indie developer makes a game that mocks the industry and its foibles, that's what! Defeat the bad guy, save the world and get the girl! But first you'll need to find coins to buy DLC to enable animation, sound and even pausing.

Thankfully this is just satire and all the DLC is purchased with in-game coins. But consider it a cautionary tale for the future...

Key Features:

  • Two full length campaigns: the original award-winning "DLC Quest", and the brand new "Live Freemium or Die"
  • Platforming action! Coins to collect, a princess to save, a bad guy (or two) to defeat. You like that stuff, right?
  • Over 30 different DLC packs, each providing quiet introspection on the state of the gaming industry
  • Over 20 achievements to earn and make you feel reasonably satisfied with yourself
  • Online leaderboards

Simply brilliant.

Short, but also really cheap. Achievements are easy to get; most of them at least.
These factors alone make it ideal for those achievements hunters out there.

Amusing music, and suitable graphics. But don't expect too much in the technical department.
Its core, of course, are the hilarious references to the industry. References which -far from tiring- gave me an enjoyable and funny ride through the entire game.

And when you have gotten enough, leaderboards add competitiveness for enhanced replay value.
It seems the first campaign can be finished in less than nine minutes!

Given the price, achievements, trading cards, and laughs I can't help but recommend this title!

Very simple and short game. Worth a couple bucks for the jokes. Recommended if you like platformers, and remember games before they nickel and dimed for everything.

DLC Quest is a satire that makes fun of modern-day companies that rely on DLC's and "F2P" games that require you to buy everything from it to be able to actually play it. The humor is a nice addition. Story is somewhat short, but you can continue it on an in-game DLC chapter.

>I'd give it a 7/10
>Pros: Solid gameplay, retro graphics, humor, inexpensive(price matches content)
>Cons: Might stumble upon annoying parts, short, best to buy on sale, might not entertain as long as other games.

This game has a distinct sense of humor (for better or for worse), but it's REALLY short and there's not much to the gameplay. And there is literally nothing beyond the hour-long story mode.
The game has a lot of charm. I really want to recommend this game. But being honest, there's just not enough reason for me to recommend it. Sorry!

>stroll into my local GameStop
>looking to pick up a copy of DLC Quest
>grab the game and take it to the charming maiden at the register
>"Pardon me, milady...but could you ring me up? A shame I don't have your number or I'd ring you up instead..."
>she giggles and takes the game, blushing as her fingers brush mine due to my fingerless gloves
>her eyes widen as she reads the game's title
>"Wow, I've never seen anyone buy this before! You must have special taste!"
>I smile and ready a witty response when suddenly a voice rings out from behind
>"Hahaha look at what this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ is buying! That's not Call of Duty! What a piece of ♥♥♥♥!"
>I quickly turn around, my cloak billowing behind me, to discern the source of the rude outburst
>generic dudebro caricature with a sports team cap and "the guy that beat you up that one time behind the school in early October" shirt is standing there guffawing
>"Excuse me sir...you may disparage my person if you wish, but it is untoward to swear in front of a lady."
>"♥♥♥♥ you ♥♥♥♥♥♥!"
>I smile quietly and tip my fedora low across my eyes, concealing them
>"As you wish..."
>I quickly swing my cane into his kneecap before he can react
>he bellows and charges forward
>I expertly sidestep him and the cashier screams as he crashes into the counter
>I draw my sword-cane and mutter a quiet oath as I drive it deep into his back
>"...requiescat in pace..."
>As I clean my blade the girl walks out from behind the counter, twirling her hair with her fingers
>"So...maybe you'd like to come over to my place to play that game sometime...?
>"No thanks, milady, it's single player only. Besides..."
>I sheath my sword
>"You're not my type."
>skate away on my Heelys

It's a nice play on the current video game market and it has some great humour,
however, after finishing the game there's no feeling of accomplishment or anything.
It's a game you install and play once and never touch again.

TL;DR

Funny humour, but not worth your time.

Fun meta-game. It is funny and has an interesting point about the state of video games today, presented in a light-hearted way! Does get a bit boring towards the end so I didn't bother with the second campaign thing. 6/10 - but because it is so damn cheap it i actually a pretty good deal!

A nice funny little game, which offers good gameplay for the short time it takes to play and finish it. It's a good game, especially for the price.

"For those who want a break from long games, or want a quick game for trading cards and achievements."

This is a game for people who want to accomplish something in a short time.

The game contains lots of humor and parkour. You are sent back and forth to explore new land... and buy DLC. The whole point of this game, buy DLC and enjoy the game. The game itself was pretty simple and short. It only took me an hour and a half to beat both modes. Bosses are simple and DLC is cheap (as in price). Pretend of this as a Super Mario Bros game, except that there are less coins and every coin is a DLC pack. This is what the game is.

The game in my opinion is amazing, especially from how short it is. Somehow, the developers were able to cram such humor and detail into a small game. At the end, the player feels accomplished of what they had done. I have never seen a game with such a great and short storyline. This kind of emphaizes the saying, short and sweet.

I would highly recommend this game. It is a short, filled-to-the-brim game of detail that also, contains trading cards and achievements. (Yay, more value!) For those who just want a quick break from long and serious games, or just want a game to unlock some trading cards and achievements, then this is the game for you.

Not a bad game, but humor is not brilliant and the gameplay itself is worse. Back in the day joke games of this type were free.

Got this game for two bucks. Still question that decision. Thought this game was interesting and possibly funny when I picked it up, which I would argue it might have been, if I had a different type of humor. I really like the idea of it, poking fun at DLC, but really poorly executed, like, proper gameplay-wise. Short, too.

I've spent similar amounts of money on waaayy better games

I think it would be fun (or not ?) if developer put real DLC for this game, instead of virtual curency, you need to pay with real money for jumping your character......

A fun little game that pokes fun at certain game companys that feel DLCs are more essential than the main game's elements. It's a game you can play and complete within 15 minutes bu it's go all the little thngs tht'll make you smile dotted through out.
