Buy RPG Maker: Samurai Resource Pack

About This Content

RPG Maker Web introduces a new addition to the RPG Maker Series. Create a historical Japanese Adventure RPG! With a wild selection of new graphics focusing on Japanese castles, civil war and military units, to the supernatural, you'll be able to create a historical Japanese RPG!

Compatible with the full version of RPG Maker VX and VX Ace, these new graphics will add an authentic Japanese flavour to the worlds available in RPG Maker.

One of the coolest things about this resource pack is all the new monsters we've added. We've replaced the standard slime and dragon monsters with civil war military commanders, ninjas, demons and head spinning ghosts to provide you with a set of authentically Japanese characters.

There are over 200 new maps, monsters, main characters and face graphics to choose from in this new collection. Everything you need to create an authentic historical Japanese adventure is ready for you. This addition is perfect for those of you who already own a copy of RPG Maker and want to do more with additional themes and graphics.

  • Buying this material collection on its own will not allow you to create games. You will need the full version of one of the RPG Maker series.
  • This material collection has been optimized for use with RPG Maker VX and RPG Maker VX Ace. If you are using a different version of RPG Maker, additional effort may be required to achieve the same results.

This pack is good, as long as you make your game enter another land. it wouldn't make sense if you have a medieval town next door to a asian style landscape. So its very limited by those standards, just be careful with buying this pack!

The biggest downside of this DLC is that the art style isn't too compatible with RPG Maker's default graphics. If you get it, you'd pretty much have to start a game from scratch depending on what your game involves. You can't mix and match face graphics, for example, as it would make your game's art look inconsistent.

It's not a bad resource pack, just a bit limited regarding what you can do. The description is accurate and I'd recommend this DLC to anyone who finds the idea intriguing (just try to wait for a sale).

One of the best value RPG Maker resource packs. For $20, you get a full tileset, characters, battlers, faces, animations, a windowskin, and bonus high-resolution versions of the sprites and battlers. The only resource packs of comparable size are the two DS packs, and those are $10 more.

The art style is very nice, but distinct from the RTP. Still, it will definitely make your game stand out from the crowd.

As other reviews mention, the art style isn't quite compatible with the RTP.
However, unlike almost all the other resource packs on here (perhaps even all of them?), this pack includes the original high-res artwork for its Faces and Battlers, allowing advanced users to modify them as they please.
If your game is set for this sort of theme, or if you're a great-editor-but-crappy-creator, this is probably pretty good for you.

I downloaded this when it was on sale. I wasn't making a Samurai themed game at all. So far I've used it when creating my C, D, and E exterior tiles on Game Character Hub, mixing and matching the assets in this pack with that of RTP. Contrary to what I have read, a lot of the assets fit quite nicely alongside some of the RTP assets if you are selective. Everything is well drawn, and I would recommend this pack to anyone that wants to expand their game graphic assets.
