What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“As a small team, ‘Dream’ is our first game and so we have a lot to learn! One of the best ways to make sure we’re on track is to get community feedback as we go along. This also helps us focus our time on the features that our audience most wants.”

How long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our current timeline has ‘Dream’ coming out of early access in Q4 2014.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Being on Early Access allows the community to help refine the game all the way to final release.
Upon completion, ‘Dream’ will have a rich story throughout the games levels in multiple languages and released alongside the Oculus Rift version to offer deeper immersion at no extra cost.

Mechanics and features for ‘Dream’ will be added, altered and refined for the full version after being tried out and tweaked in Early Access. Some of these include a more comprehensive and easy to use Inventory System, Collectibles to find which offer story and rewards, Options expanded with more intuitive menus and In-Game items which help aid with exploration and game optimisations.

While these are already somewhat available in the Early Access version they only represents a small part. The story serves as a placeholder in order to give a general idea without spoilers and give players some context in order to voice their opinions in shaping the game”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Two out of the three acts of ‘Dream’ are available to play with different levels being at different stages of completion. An Alpha of the Oculus Rift version is also available.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Dream will be included in sales where appropriate during Early Access but it is currently undecided whether the price will go up come full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“So far the community has been providing us with indispensable feedback on what works, what doesn’t work as well as it could and what they would like to see next on top of helping us with bug/crash reports. We would like to keep this dynamic going all the way up to our final release.”

This game in one word: FANTASTIC.
Dream is more than a game; it is a work of art. That being said, this isn't like those other art games where absolutely nothing happens which makes this game so much more special. This game is smart in its use of puzzles, horror, music, and atmosphere. I have no regrets paying full price for this masterpiece that is still in early access.
Looking forward to the full release!

What more to say about worlds constructed out of one's psyche. Beautiful and often times distant worlds emerge from this game, some, beautiful, others frightening. With a soundtrack that is absolutely alluring and visual eye candy with every step, this game is definitely worth the price, and its worth is only growing with time. The puzzles are also engaging as you try to open up new path ways into howards mind, but those don't come easily, and these puzzles will provide a challenge for most. (difficulty of puzzles will vary)
All in all it's a pretty good game.

Lovely graphics, but unfortunately incredibly buggy. It took me three tries to even make it out of the starting area - Try #1 my movement keys stopped working; Try #2 I couldn't STOP moving and slid a slow, slow moonwalk to the right against any surface I hit; Try #3 I froze up, looking at the ceiling and jittering. And then I finally made it to the first area, and it was beautiful! And then I clipped into the first rock wall I came to and got stuck.

It's really quite remarkable; I don't think I've had this many technical issues with a game since ~1996. Happily, uninstalling programs goes faster these days!

Although it's a work in progress, this game is absolutely amazing. The visuals are great, and the story (learning about the main character himself) is fascinating. It made me keep a dream journal so I can start lucid dreaming. I can't wait til all the Acts are finished!

Dream is the greatest game I own, I don't play it allot but when I actually do play it I enjoy every second of it. The game is so relaxing and it's like you're actually there inside the game. The voice on the narrator is also really relaxing and so smooth.

I really look forward to the next update and I give this game a 9/10 which should give you an imagination of how good it will be when the game is completely ready.

First of all i need to tell averyone that i bought this game last year with only one place to go and now a days, Dream is one of my favourites games in my Steam Library. I got it with the discount on it, but i can say that if you pay for the original price, you'll be REALLY happy.

This game conteins things that i cannot explain, things that fits perfect like the combination of place - music. I'm a music student in the university and i can say that the "Dream OST" is SO GOOD that im actually learning it on piano.

I feel very comfortable with the game in all the aspects, and i like that thing of making us collect pieces of paper that contains information about the meaning of these objects or things that we all have in our dreams.

¿What about the nightmares? You'll see how much you can sweat with a good enviroment and the correct sounds in the perfect time.

For me, this game it worth what it cost, and i give Dream 4.5 Stars out of 5. Why? Because it's still on Alpha, maybe then i could give this game 5 stars when alpha finishes.

Thanks to the Devs for such a good experience :)

I enjoy this game alot, sadly being so paranoid i didnt expect it to have such a high horror aspect and so i cant play much of it without freaking out. Anyone looking for a puzzle / horror game this is the right place, narration is great and the environment will make you feel the game when playing it, worth the pickup

A very different kind of game, one that may not be for everyone. Though I enjoy this very much, and it clearly has a lot to tell, especially if you are the kind of person that enjoys atmospheric, beautiful games. You'll be in for a very twisted fun journey with this one.

What follows is a critical review in the hope that the developers will see this and be able to improve upon a promising premise.

There are so many design and technical issues with this game that it is hard to know where to begin.

While I appreciate that this is an incomplete release, currently it doesn't feel like any game at all, with very little direction or intrigue to motivate the player. My friends and I attempted to play this game twice, and both times unfortunately ended with us quitting from frustration, at lack of gameplay and direction, at least from what was visible to us.

The depth of field is far too aggressive in this title in general, where it seems completely out of place in nearly all cases. The desert level could benefit from a sandstorm to give the depth of field more purpose for being there.

There seems to be quite a few scaling issues in this game also, particularly in the house, where parts of the furniture can end up dwarfing other parts, in particular when comparing the dining table to the piano, one is clearly out of proportion.

There are also quite a large number of texture issues. One such example is the wood grain in the house, where all the furniture seems to have the exact same wood grain and also have prevailing texture seams that are easily seen. I would recommend the developers polishing up the existing assets before continuing adding too much more to the game.

Also please fix the over repitition of some of the assets, such as the grass, and hexagonal rocks, as well as the overly used light shafts that do not match up with the cast shadows.

In the stone maze in the desert level, we found that the corridors used perhaps 4-5 different types of rock, that were not only different sizes, but different colours and styles. While it is clear that this is a dream of the character, it still seems odd that the stones are so different.

sand is bland, much boar, very no wow.

When i saw this game, it was on sale for 5 euros, so i've bought it. I had to play it for hours to figure it out, it is not a game, it is a feeling, and an athmosphere which is fantastic.
