This DLC adds 3 levels for single/coop play, all three coming from original Painkiller. And they aren't just random dull maps, no. It's the three maps from Chapter 2 and they are quite iconic, defining some of Painkiller's most memorable moments.
Town is a medieval town filled with zombies that throw their own bits at you and monks. It had quite a nice atmoshpere in original. And it's still nice there. Though, nitpicking, I miss occasional usage of physics, like falling balcony. Also miss better contrast between dark and light, with some zombies carrying torches. The funny thing is that in HD some still carry torches and throw them, but they aren't lit. And monks kinda feel passive and dumber. And zombies more aggresive and don't feel like pieces of wiggling cursed meat, more like usual zombies.
Yea, this level feels quite "off" for me, person who liked it a lot in Black Edition. It's still good one, mind it.
They added this little thing where you can overcharge cutted zombie head with Soulcatcher. It's hard to aim at, but quite worth it on this level.
Then you will have to go through Asylum. And hey, this one is actually great. Just don't turn flashlight on. I am still going to nitpick that I miss a little detail of one of the insane monster banging the head against the front door. But it easily makes up for it with overall look improvement and additional gameplay at the end. Nicely added!
The last map, Snowy Bridge, is a great one. This one seemed to be remixed nicely, with care putted into it. Even has nice boss and nice end section, as budget as it looks. If all levels in PK HD were like this, this game would have been awesome.
Tarot card that is given for free is the one that returns you 2,5% of daamge you deliver as health. It's a powerful thing. Though, I wish that it was linked to any map, just to have some additional objective.
