Here we go – the latest update for Wreckfest is out!

As always the update contains a host of important fixes and improvements based on the feedback we're received, but without any doubt the highlights of this update are the new Mixed 3 track as well as badass folk-racing inspired version of the European 3 car, as pictured in the title image. Being a low-tier beater version of European 3 car, this new car offers you a first glimpse of how the career of the game will work, with players starting from the bottom and working their way up to better events with better cars.

Other than that we've made an effort to improve the new health system so it should make more sense and support the type of gameplay we want to encourage. We've also improved all cars by tweaking the suspension setups, fixing some of the aerodynamic properties, improving gear shift logic as well as tuning the driving assists, and as a result the actual business of racing should feel better no matter what your skill level. And finally, modders now have an ability to finetune AI routes as well as view trackside cameras.

  • Added a new work-in-progress track, Mixed 3.
  • Added a folk-racing variant of European 3.
  • It now requires heavy hits to cause any damage to the chassis in case the body panels are almost or fully intact.
  • Low to moderate jumps no longer cause damage to the chassis health on landing unless chassis is in critical condition.
  • Health bars now display correct reading also in replays.
  • Improved car cameras and related effects.
  • Improved shifting logic for automatic gearbox.
  • It's now possible to skip gears when downshifting (i.e. shift directly from 3rd to 1st, for example).
  • Improved Stability and Traction Control assists to make them more useable.
  • Exposed developer track data and trackside camera visualization, racing line adjust tool, and free camera for modded tracks.
  • Use the tilde key ~ (the key below ESC that resembles a squiggly worm) to access the developer menu and F11 to enable free camera.
  • Added an ability to set effects to panel release and unlocking (not used for official cars just yet).
  • Fixed buggy checkpoints on Speedway 1 and Tarmac 2.
  • Improved AI routes on a number of tracks.
  • Fixed rough geometry in the Sandpit 3 intersection causing cars to flip.
  • Added more grass to Sandpit 3.

We're happy to let you all know that the latest update is out! The update contains quite a few improvements, major and minor alike, but the main feature of the update is the new track Sandpit 3 offering high-speed racing through the forested hilly scenery, something that will probably bring back sweet memories of a certain well-known racing game of yesteryear. We love it, and we hope that you too will! In addition to Sandpit 3 the update also adds a Figure 8 layout for Speedway 8, since let's face it – Figure 8 is like the bread and butter of demolition racing games, and those never get old.

Other than that, we've implemented the basics of the our new, more tactical damage system. Vehicles now have chassis health and armor, the latter being visualized with the previously used sector triangles. Think of them as outer panels of the car: the better the condition of the armor the more incoming damage it absorbs, and when the armor condition drops to zero (black), all damage will go directly to lower chassis health. From now on the vehicle is only totaled when chassis health drops to zero. To help you better pick targets the health bars are also now visualized next to the player name in HUD. In future, we will extend the system so that various components such as the suspension of the car can fail.

IMPORTANT!
If the game fails to launch after updating, please launch the game with "-disable_mods" command line parameter. To do so, right click on the game name in the Steam library, click on Properties, then Set Launch Options, type -disable_mods and click OK.

  • Weathers are now scanned similar to tracks, vehicles and parts, so multiple weather mods can co-exist.
  • BagEditor now shows files under Art folder too.

Wreckfest is a new demolition derby themed racing game with soft-body damage modeling, sophisticated driving dynamics and in-depth vehicle upgrading, featuring both demolition derbies and more traditional track races. It’s all about fun, breakneck racing and over-the-top crashes.

Expect epic crashes and tight, neck-to-neck fights over the finish line on run-down racing tracks. Expect proper demolition derbies. Expect brand new ways for metal to bend and the signature once-in-the-lifetime moments that can be achieved only with true-to-life physics simulation.

It’s a motorsport, but not just any motorsport. It’s a motorsport with attitude.

Unique Racing Experience

First and foremost, we’re building a FUN racing game with PERSONALITY. It’s all about the stuff that really matters: varied tracks, cool cars, and the defining once-in-the-lifetime moments that can be achieved only with true-to-life physics simulation. If you’re familiar with our previous games, you already know what we’re aiming at: exhilarating racing action with sophisticated physics and damage modeling, only this time we’re upping the ante on almost every front. This is the game we envisioned way back in the early 2000s, only re-imagined for today’s technology and gaming standards.

Awesome Cars

The cars are old, cheap, banged up, patched together, rusty… just awesome! In short, our cars ooze with STYLE. You won’t find anything like them in other racing games. We’ve got variety, as well: everyone loves the old American heavy-hitters from the muscle car era, but we’re not neglecting the fun little European and Asian cars from the long-gone decades either. The best part is that you’ll be taking them apart and building them back up again in your garage; the career is as much about your garage and your project cars as it is about racing.

Exciting Engine

Our in-house ROMU engine is a hell-bent beast that's precision-engineered for high-speed, breakneck racing. We have also already implemented fully deformable soft body car damage, meaning that the cars will react to damage in a very tangible, convincing way. While we're focused on action, motorsport authenticity is not forgotten, either. To that end our engine is simulating vehicle dynamics in a very sophisticated fashion. Rolling resistances, casters and slip angles are definitely not ancient Greek to us, and you as the player will be the one benefiting from our expertise.

EARLY ACCESS FEATURES

The current Early Access release contains four playable cars and a number of tracks, showcasing both white-knuckle track racing and explosive demolition derby action with 24 cars that will give you taste of things to come. During the coming months we’re going to give the game a lot of polish as well as implement many new exciting features, and all Early Access supporters have a unique opportunity to get involved in the development of the title!


We’ve also giving a playable Technology Sneak Peek 2.0 to all our Early Access supporters. The sneak peek features a playground that we use internally to test various features various like car damage and environment destruction. Version 2.0 includes new destructive machinery, more dynamic stuff to blow up, spectacular stunts and an awesome physics cannon that we use to play with our physics engine. With the physics cannon you too will now have a chance to cause mayhem to heart’s content by launching missiles, throwing stuff around and destroying the environment as well as the cars!

  • Various race and derby game modes including Team Deathmatch with up to (!) 24 cars, all with dynamic damage.
  • Soft-body car damage physics system that doesn't need a super computer - even online!
  • Highly configurable support for force-feedback wheels, pedals and H-shifters.
  • Dynamic content that reacts realistically – fences and billboards break down, tires fly around.
  • In-game Photo Mode and Replay with a number of cameras, configurable field-of-view and depth-of-field.

UPCOMING FEATURES

Wreckfest is currently in early Pre-Alpha stage, and the Early Access version is going to serve as a basis on which we will continue building the game based on your feedback on what works and what doesn't. Throughout the Early Access phase we're going to gradually add more content and new features to the game, with some of the most important key features planned being:

  • More cars, each with different stylings and performance.
  • More race tracks and derby stadiums with varying surfaces.
  • More dynamic content on the tracks to drive through and crash into.
  • Highly configurable multiplayer with a variety of modes.

虽然知道还在Early Access不是成品 但玩后对此游戏不报太大希望 作为一款赛车游戏过分专注于车损的物理效果反而搞得游戏本身既不爽快也谈不上真实 这游戏的问题不是正式版加多少新车新图能弥补得了的 既然还有排名和计时就说明这还是个赛车游戏不是毁车游戏 不明白Bugbear为何不做好游戏系统、联机等等 搞成现在这样简陋的界面 几乎没什么能自由选择的选项却去死扣破坏效果 steam的评测可以修改,等出来以后再看情况,但按目前发展方向看来实在难以满意
