Ever science 1993 Doom happens to be one of the most significant and influential titles in video game history. this game is a really fun 3dementinal First Person Shooter, yet its still a 2D simulated game with a great sound track that fits within the enviorment in every level. this is like one of the most important games that has made up all of our modern(FPS) games today. If you dont like this game... you need therapy.

Uhhh....What is there to say ? This is one of the best FPS games ever created. If you are tired of the old episodes and the clunky DOS Box port, just get ZDoom and download some Wads and you probably will have the most fun you ever had in an FPS. The community is one of the best and friendliest any game ever had and still thriving despite the games age. Grab Ultimate Doom and Doom II so you can fully experience the true magnificence of Doom.

DOOM, one of the most influential and important games of all time. Also known as being an extremely controversial during it's release. It's highly regarded as one of the greatest games ever made. So, about 23 years later, how does this game hold up to a person my age? Well, first off, the game isn't as gory as some games nowadays (Mortal Kombat 2011 anyone?). But hey, for me, gore isn't a selling point of a game. Because the presentation and especially the gameplay are what matter, so I'll start with the presentation.

Graphically, DOOM still looks quite good, it's forbodes a dark, depressing, and sometimes even creepy atmosphere, which I like. The sprites, while they are 2-D, still look great. I wasn't born in the 90's, but I can assume that this game must've amazed many for it's graphics. Like I said earlier, graphics get a thumbs up. As for the music..... well, I'm probably the odd one out here, as I HATE DOOM's music. The atmosphere mixed with metal/rock midis I feel doesn't work. While lots probably like it because you feel like a badass, I'm not that way, so I play the game without the music to make it even scarier. As for presentation as a whole, it's good in the graphics department, but falls back in the music in my opinion. But those two don't make the game as a whole good, that's where gameplay comes in.

Now does anyone need an explination on DOOM's gameplay? It's TOTAL CARNAGE throughout the whole game! You explore levels, finding secrets, collect armor and weapons, and explode and shoot the crap out of as many enemies as you can. As you explore the game, you feel super satisfied, and why is that? Because the mechanics of the game is what makes it feel so good. The game feels very fast paced, so that's probably why the game is so satisfying while your killing enemies. On top of that, you got kickass weapons! The machine gun, the chain gun, the rocket launcher, and that weird plasma gun that looks more like a vacumn, the chainsaw, oh the chainsaw! Every weapon has use (except maybe your dinky little pistol and fist) and is what makes DOOM so replayable. Killing a room full of enemies with the chain gun or chainsaw? OHH, such a good feeling! However while the gameplay is great, there is one thing that makes the gameplay drop a little. The controls. The controls feel super clunky nowadays. Using only the arrow keys makes me feel like I can't aim very well, and using the mouse only is the WORST IDEA FOR A CONTROL EVER. Well luckily mods can help with the controls, which is awesome! Overall the gameplay kicks so much ♥♥♥ that the controls are only an afterthought after playing for me.

Overall, as a kid who didn't play DOOM wntil I was 8 in the late 2000's, this game still holds up extremely well! This is a game I usually play when I had a rough day at school, and the satisfaction I get relieves all the stress I have after playing. I highly recommend getting this game, it's 5 dollars for complete chaos. With good graphics, music that while I don't like I can see why others do, and absolutely incredible gameplay, I do think that DOOM does deserve all the critical praise it has recieved.

Graphics: 8/10
Music: 3/10 (I will respect your opinion if you love the music.)
Gameplay: 10/10
Controls: 6/10
Overall: Aside from bad music and clunky controls, the gameplay is what makes up for all of it.

This game is fun initially because it tries to build on what I found fun with id Software's Wolfenstein 3D which was exploring small rooms, brief combat encounters, stumbling onto secrets, collecting things, and completing levels.

This game however gets repetitive very quickly. After some point it just feels like an endless scavenger hunt for ammo, health packs, then holding down the fire button on waves of enemies until I find the level exit.

The ultimate in classic shooter FPS, if you haven't played it..play it now! If you started with DOOM (2016) and want more that SnapMap does not suffice in terms of user content, this will give nearly endless entertainment if you look up /idgames/ or Doomworld on the internet.

In all, this is an essential gem in any FPS gamer's library. It may be old but the user content and the source ports to make it run in Windows/Linux/Mac and prettier in some instances is more than enough to warrant purchase.

I haven't so much memories with Doom. I remember having like "Minigames 200 in 1" disk, what contains a small games in it (well, that's obvious). I saw this game, but controlls were awful (not like the original, surprisingly), and I just forgot about it. 7 years later, I saw a discount on a steam, and I'm glad, what I bought the Classic Complete Pack.

But back in business.

  • Graphics are pretty good, and will never gets old for this legendary game.
  • Soundtrack is outstanding, and that's why you must like Doom. Even though I prefer FMOD soundfont, the OPL soundtrack is not that bad, and there's couple of them, what I like too.
  • Gameplay is simple - you get guns, you USE guns to get to the end.
  • Mod supporting is making this game playable as hell, because people love it, and mod creators is on top! Tons of them to do your own experience. Without GZDoom, I think my fingers will be tired in a 1 hour. And Brutal Doom, well, I don't need to explain you, the name speaks for itself.

If you like to play some old games, it's definitely worth a try.

Doom at its finest. Before Doom 2016 there was this masterpiece. If you are ok with the dated graphics(which I still like), then this game is the perfect 1st person shhoter. Great sound, music, and gameplay for its time. Heck if you consider the age of this game, then the graphics are on par.

Overall this game is great, and a must play for action fps fans. Would highly reconmend. 10/10

I'll be honest. I like it (for the ten seconds i decided to play) But I had to do some manual configurations before I got it started. My only complaints is those few lines in the files I had to fix, and the audio is a choppy. The game doesn't seem to run as smooth as I hoped it would. I hope someone fixes this soon.

Who needs whiny, immature, and ungrateful squeakers, handholding, repitition, redundant scenarios, reskins o' weapons, boring level design, generic storylines, lack of innovation, bad DLC, microtransactions, $60 new, and the other problems with modern FPSs when you can have a masterclass of innovation, genius level design, action that has you moving at all times, a tolerable fanbase, a creative scenario, weapons that are all useful and memorablem, good pacing, and overall amazing gameplay in just one package that is just $5.00 approx, without any atrocities of DLC and microtransactions. ∞ (infinite sign) /10 "Too much genius."

P.S. CoD kids, critical capabilities are important.

A game that stands the test of time, still worth playing even 20+ years after its release. A must play for those who game on PC or at least like playing first person shooters.

Also, be sure to download GZDoom so you can play it at modern resolutions + put in mods more easily.

True classic. Played this game in '93 without a sound card. Got a sound card the next year and was blown away replaying the thing.

Not much has changed in 20+ years, played through the game again and now I'm walking around the house making imp noises. And shotgun noises. And humming the music.
