What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“When we started developing Heroes & Generals it was with the intention of creating a game for the gamers as much as for ourselves. The games we have been creating in the past (back in the IO Interactive days) have all been shrouded in secrecy until they were released and therefore always carried a number of things that players did not like but we were unable to change. Because it is the players that in the end plays the game we think they should have greater influence on the development.

Since the very early days of the project in 2011 (pre-alpha stage), we invited players in to play the game and have involved our community in the making of Heroes & Generals and listened to the feedback from them. So it's a natural extension of the way we develop Heroes & Generals, to also include the Steam Community, by going Early Access.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We're approaching the end of our Open Beta/Early Access phase, but it's still too soon for us to put a date on when we'll launch.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We're still tweaking, fixing bugs and adding new features to Heroes & Generals, and even though we feel that the game is now fun and quite stable, we still wish to get all things 'just right' before we call it 'launched'.

We do not plan to do a full server reset when the game launches.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“We're in the end of our Open Beta phase, preparing for launch.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Heroes & Generals is Free2Play. We wish to create a healthy, solid and well-balanced game and community, where you can get a great experience playing the game, no matter how much money you spend! There is already an in-game economy in place, where you earn in-game credits and warfunds for being active in the game, by playing FPS-missions and/or handling Assault Teams.

You can also buy gold, which you can use to buy practically everything, usually it give you the option of buying stuff ‘early’, so you don’t need to grind that much. We also offer a Veteran Membership to accommodate wishes of having an all-inclusive package, where you earn xp, ribbon-xp, in-game credits and warfunds at an increased rate etc.

Prices are regularly being tweaked now in Open Beta/Early Access and we will most likely still tweak prices at and after launch.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We encourage the players to participate in discussions in our forum: http://forum.heroesandgenerals.com/

When you write feedback about the game, remember to try and explain your reasons. Constructive criticism will help us build a better game for you.”

Incoming update to the War – Underdog bonus, Paratrooper AT update and more battlefields!

In the coming update named Young (after US brigadier-general Gordon Russell Young) we are adding several new features to balance the War – an Underdog bonus for underpopulated factions, reworking the paratrooper system and adding even more battlefields.

The underdog bonus is a feature designed to even out the factions to make the campaign more balanced. The goal is to have the same amount of Assault Teams available for all factions. This is of course an impossible goal but we want to get as close as possible to help minimize resource waiting time (at least in the beginning of a war) and make the strategy gameplay more fun for everybody.

The bonus is a rank-xp bonus (multiplier) that is given to all players that are active in the war (war battles & Assault team action). Faster leveling is something most players appreciate because it both increases your credits earning and help you reach officer ranks faster which enables you to deploy your own assault teams (helping balance the campaign). The goal is not to remove the queues, they will always be there and are a part of the strategy game.

The bonus is re-calculated every time a battle is started and applied to the player’s xp-earning when the battle ends. So the bonus you see on the screen when joining a faction is the bonus NOW, not necessarily what you would get if you let the game sit on the screen and then joined a battle later. The bonus is continually adjusted based on players online.

NB: At the start of a new war there is a time period where the bonus is not applied because the imbalance might be very high at this point in time.

The bonus numbers are visible when you join a faction and after each war battle on the Battle Report you can see what bonus you got (if any). In the coming updates to the game we will expand on this and tweak values etc. based on your feedback and the data gathered.

The bonus is re-calculated every time a battle is started and applied to the player’s xp-earning when the battle ends.

Faction strength (total number of players online who have joined the war).
  • A: 3000
  • B: 6000
  • C: 2000
  • A: 1 – (3000/6000) = 0.5
  • B: 1 – (6000/6000) = 0
  • C: 1 – (2000/6000) = 0.66
Bonus (multiplier is 3 for this example):
  • A: 1 + (0,5 * 3) = 2.5 (150%)
  • B: 1 + (0 * 3) = 1 (0%)
  • C: 1 + (0,66 * 3) = 2.98 (198%)

Paratrooper AT Pass
Put on your boots, boots, boots and parachutes, chutes, chutes, we’re going up, up, up and coming down down down…

The paratrooper mechanic in the War has been reworked. Paratroopers are now considered regular infantry once they are separated from their airplanes. This means that they can pass through friendly airfields without having to wait for further resources to advance. Once the paratroopers are linked up with their planes they become airborne again and paradropped as airborne units.

This update also changes the planes into a flying resource. This offers generals more tactical options by enabling them to to resupply grounded paratroopers behind enemy lines. This feature includes both fighter planes and transport planes.

Lastly – Paratrooper ATs reaching a battle location as the third faction will now retreat if they cannot land anywhere or of the battle director evaluates the battle as “not-fun”

More battlefields
We have looked at the campaign map and how war progress happens in various oft-contested areas. To help create broader fronts and more war battles we have added a number of new towns and supply lines connecting different cities as well as adjusted a few other areas.
  • Relaxing the tight chokepoints in the alps by adding more battlefield.
  • Added tight attack-line on the ridge of the alps
  • Created more choke points in the Ardennes to give Germany more protection from US (and separating Netherlands and Belgium more)
  • Added sea-lines from England to Denmark
  • Added sealine from Norway to Denmark
  • Added sealine between Denmark and Sweden
  • Added more battlefields in Sweden to increase the number of contact points between US and Soviet.
The number of new battlefields is approximately 275!

I wrote a good long review couple of months ago, ofc it was negative about this crap game, if I could have press that downvote button multiple times I would do so till my finger swallows.
So here's a shorter version of what happened and made me re-write this

I reported a lot of trolls and alts in this game and every time support either doesn't tell you what they have done or tell you this:
Yep, that's them openly saying that "alts dont exist" and that "trolling is OK if you're not in a mood to play properly"
Makes you wonder why would you waste your time playing this crap then, but wait it gets even more funnier or sad, idk how to evaluate this.
So on thier forum after I said the same thing from above a forum admin called me a liar (about support saying such stuff) and insta banned me for two weeks. LOL
After that I made a 2nd account for forum and showed these pictures and asked what will happen to the liar admin that called me a liar and banned me? And when will they start dealing with actuall trolls and alts?

Guess what happens?
Yep they perma ban the 2nd account without explenation and delete the topic
So I made a 3rd account, reposted the same topic they deleted (I made backup cuz I expected them to do that).
Aaaand this happens: http://imgur.com/a/gEz8Q
Yep turns out I was trolling.
Thats my main account, also they banned my IP adress, too bad I have dynamic one ;)
After that I made one more account and insulted them good, tahts the only thing they deserve.

Stay away from these mentally disabled clowns.

Ive played in that game for a long time, and need to say that i enjoyed it a lot, until "Young" Updated

They broke almost half of aspects from game
- Added a blood/dirt/shake effects, wich are equal to who shots firts then win

- U gain more XP and Money by defending/Capturing points (+20%) but less money for killing players from short range (-15%) wich in calculation only give u 5% earn even if u defend or capture point coz u still need to get there and kill enemies.

- Constantly silent nerfs or changes that are not in logs and are hidden from normal players

- RETO (i would say R.E.T.A.R.D's) team dont care about players at all. They dont listen to what they say, complaing, and even if listen, they will still make it in theire own way.
Like with German bike wich was broken almost from the start, but instead of fixing old one, they just added a new one.Why fix?Better to add something new wich is not broken.

-Broken graphic animations. It might occur that after killing someone character will be still runing or standing even if its dead

-From 120 fps went right now to 45-59,after just one updated coz of "NEW" things

-Hundreds of players runinig on a hacks Aimbot's/Radar/Wallhack/No Fog and other hacks wich can be easy added to web client and easy to find on dozen of hacking sites.

The best is that RETO team ban them equaly on how much did u paid.
U donate a lot - no ban,u bought something from time to time - couple of days ban....

And the last one... This game is 3 YEARS OLD!! AND ITS STILL IN BETA! Developers dont care at all about this game but just how much money they can suck from you.

(This is from someone who mostly plays Staged battles and not the RTS side)
- Not Pay2Win, it's Pay2NotGrind
- Nice weaponry used (STG, M1/M2, PTDR, AVS-36 etc.)
- Maps are nicely made
- Infantry, Tanks, Planes, Paratroopers, Recons (oh my!)
- Infantry Only Map! :D
- EVERYTHING CAN BE BOUGHT WITH INGAME CREDITS! (this includes Veteran (premium) Membership!)
- Anti tank weapons are found around the map so tanks can be destroyed even if you don't have AT nades or mines!
- Higher rank of your soldier, the more money he earns
- Modable weapons!

- Not very welcoming for new players (stuck on SA for a while...)
- Tanks and planes can be a problem if you don't have the right equipment
- Currently, Germany is the most populated faction with most of the vets, America is mostly full of the newbs, Soviets is least populated but I find it's an average player base
- Got to pay for the weapons you used (mods, ammo, the weapon itself...)

- It can be overwhelming at first but stay for the long run to have the best fun
- It's like a "WW2 Battlefield"
- It encourages playing the objective and not K/D like COD
- You earn more money and xp for capping/defending the objective than just killing the enemy team

Fun for awhile then just tedium and dissapointment. Every patch and update breaks more then it fixes and the Devs seem more intent on gougeing player base of time and money with new bells and whitsles then fixing things. On the plus side they do jump on hacking pretty quick when you report it.

Might get better might not but don't spend any of your hard earned money on the game and you may get some amount of fun out of it for a time, assumeing the servers work anyway.

Also virus's is a thing they add some patches and updates...just sayin.
