Reviews

"I’ve already played around with its insanely ambitious world-building and baddy-blasting, and I had seen that it was full of promise." -Rock Paper Shotgun
"I've played the game for a bit, and I must say: I am very excited for the future of StarForge." -Destructoid
"It’s remarkably ambitious, but the terrain manipulation already looks fantastic and outer space is gorgeous. This thing has “potential” scrawled all over it." -PC Gamer

About This Game

StarForge is a sci fi survival sandbox. Hunt to eat, dig for resources, craft many items, build a fort, and fight enemies in order to survive! Do this alone, or with other players, in a fully infinite procedural world.

Key Features in StarForge:

Procedural Infinite Voxel Terrain - There are no set boundaries in StarForge; the planet will procedurally generate each time you start a new game. The terrain supports plains, mountains, deserts, mountains, caves, overhangs, rocks, and much more. The world is infinite, meaning you will be able to run in a single direction for as long as your computer can support it.

Underground/Surface/Space Gameplay - Build a tower that ascends into the clouds, through the atmosphere, then into space, and do this in real-time with no loading screens.

Dynamic World - Enjoy dynamic weather patterns, a 24 day and night cycle, and a real time atmosphere. Creatures drop loot and attack the player and sometimes other creatures. Players can also swim and find water or lava in the game.

Loot and Survive - Before the humans landed countless weapons and armor were sent to Atlas. You will find loot chests littered throughout the land, you will need their contents to survive.

Vehicle Gameplay - Hop on board a 4 wheeled all terrain vehicle with a friend and traverse the world. Or jump into a hovercraft for speedy terrain movement. You may also take flight in the space helicopter.

Procedural 3D Tileset - Build anything you want with our unique 3D Tilesets. You can create towns, villages, bridges, forts, and much more. It is also fully destructible! Ramps and stairs are also included.

Physics Sandbox - We are designing the world to be fully dynamic. This currently includes chopping down trees, turrets, and enemies.

Physics Movement - Our movement model is designed closely around the real bio mechanics of biped locomotion; The result is a more human look and feel, and a character that is equipped to intelligently react to dangers far beyond what conventional movement code was designed to handle. It also features a full body IK system.

Resources and Economy - There will be many different resources in StarForge. However, the player can only hold so much at a time. When the player can no longer hold what he mined, he will have to build containers to store them into. This makes resources tangible and gives you the ability to steal other players resources.

Multiplayer & SinglePlayer - We have both modes playable in the game.

Survival - In this mode you are tasked with surviving on the planet. You will encounter enemies, find new blueprints, gather weapons, build a base, and so much more.

Creative - In this mode you have unlimited resources and can build at great speeds. You may also place creatures anywhere you want.

Unfinished, buggy, and not even worth the $2 it is on sale for right now. Steam just needs to refund this scam game and remove it from its game listings all together.

I got StarForge early in the early access stage. I did not like it. It was unwieldy and not much fun in my opinion. I have not had it installed for a long time, I do that a lot, install early access stuff, try it and then delete it and come back when it sucks. This still sucks. There have not been enough improvements to persuade me that this will ever leave early access. I think I have wasted my money with this one. Still, we live and learn. In my case, learn not to trust this lot again.

I have just tried it again and it is still a pile of crap that should have never been sold. Almost the worst advert for the whole early access idea.

This is one of the reasons there is a "hide this game in my library" option. It is so that you don't keep kicking yourself each time you get reminded what a waste of money it was. It is one of the biggest piles of ♥♥♥♥ ever created. A right rip off.

This game single-handedly made me skeptical of Early Access games. When I bought it, it had so much promise: a lot of fun features, a great premise, and the description made you believe that the game would be great! I even bought the 4-pack so I could share the experience with my friends. When I first tried it, I think it was still in Alpha and not a lot of the features were there and/or didn't work right. I figured I'd give it some more time and try and come back. I waited a few months and when I came back to look at the game's progress, the game had received overwhelmingly negative reviews and said the game was abandoned by the devs. I figured I was still skeptical of that and I tried to play it again. If there was any progress, it didn't feel like there was. The game felt just as clunky as it had been months before. I've since never come back to this game and I don't think I ever will. It was a rip-off then, it's a rip-off now, and it will always be a rip-off. Other terrible games have been removed from Steam by the devs. I think they should do a mercy and just pull this one from the store as well.

Bought it early due to potential. Regretted it later. As of most of the early release developers this one dropped the ball and didnt complete what could have been a great game. As of right now, it is merely a husk of what it should have been. If the devs released a kit or made this game mod friendly I would be singing a different song. But nope. Many have already requested a refund which probably made this project utterly impossible to finish.

Terrible game, I bought while it was still in early access, It looked promising, unfortunately The devs abandoned and screwed early adopters completly, Do not purchase, Has almost no value except the feeling of being deficated upon by the creators, Wish I could remove this game from my list of owned games just to hide my shame

a small piece of me died with this game, I bought this game years ago, when it was in alpha. They hooked me with their honeyed words, full of ambitious ideas and empty promises, I was picking up what they were putting down. Thinking, "let me help the little guy" I took a leap of faith. The game is barren wasteland, not like the terrain, which and argument could be made for that too, but nobody plays it. Why? Because it is a steamy hot pile of garbage. Learn from our mistakes people, there is no hope for us, but you still have a chance. They should hold weekly meetings for people Living With Starforge, I cannot........there are no words to express how disappointed I am at this company, and myself for trusting them. They say you can forgive, but never forget, I wish it was the other way around, but then I might buy this dumpster fire of a game again. On a scale of 1-10 I give this a grade of bloated corpse

These guys moved on from this when they felt it had generated enough money for them to move on to the next cash cow - REIGN OF KINGS. They are doing the same thing again from what Ive seen of ROK theyve abandoned that too. The Devs are called Code}{atch - best to make a point of never buying anything these guys do again until they prove they will actually finish a game. Devs like this are why Early Access needs serious a serious re-think. How they were allowed to get ROK on Steam after this shell of a game is exactly what will kill this type of crowdfunding for genuine small game devs.

This game should be removed from Steam, and refunds should be offered to those of us who were scammed into believing it would actually be finished. Developers abandonded this game, and I personally feel cheated out of $10 for it. I could easily have bought something else with that money.

If you're debating killing yourself and it'll only take one more stain on the shirt of humanity to make you go through with it, you'd best avoid this game.

So strange that they just abandoned the project like this. Not a finished game for sure, plenty of bugs still abound.

StarForge is a Sandbox game that could of went places. It could of gone to a whole new level. But let me tell you what. Glitches are up there in numbers. The graphix's go in an out. Somethings your building just dissapear. The mining system is crap. The weapons and buildings are crap. They even have a store to help you inthe begging but its not balanced at all. To even make this game fun anymore you need to mod the ♥♥♥♥ out of it. So please... pretty please dont wast your money on this. It is a dead game. it shouldn't be out there. This needs to die... If you do buy it and you liked it well let me tell you what.. you need to try other sandbox games. such as Ark... Hell even subnautica was better then this in Alpha. good luck please move on from this game.
