"I’ve already played around with its insanely ambitious world-building and baddy-blasting, and I had seen that it was full of promise." -Rock Paper Shotgun
"I've played the game for a bit, and I must say: I am very excited for the future of StarForge." -Destructoid
"It’s remarkably ambitious, but the terrain manipulation already looks fantastic and outer space is gorgeous. This thing has “potential” scrawled all over it." -PC Gamer

About This Game

StarForge is a sci fi survival sandbox. Hunt to eat, dig for resources, craft many items, build a fort, and fight enemies in order to survive! Do this alone, or with other players, in a fully infinite procedural world.

Key Features in StarForge:

Procedural Infinite Voxel Terrain - There are no set boundaries in StarForge; the planet will procedurally generate each time you start a new game. The terrain supports plains, mountains, deserts, mountains, caves, overhangs, rocks, and much more. The world is infinite, meaning you will be able to run in a single direction for as long as your computer can support it.

Underground/Surface/Space Gameplay - Build a tower that ascends into the clouds, through the atmosphere, then into space, and do this in real-time with no loading screens.

Dynamic World - Enjoy dynamic weather patterns, a 24 day and night cycle, and a real time atmosphere. Creatures drop loot and attack the player and sometimes other creatures. Players can also swim and find water or lava in the game.

Loot and Survive - Before the humans landed countless weapons and armor were sent to Atlas. You will find loot chests littered throughout the land, you will need their contents to survive.

Vehicle Gameplay - Hop on board a 4 wheeled all terrain vehicle with a friend and traverse the world. Or jump into a hovercraft for speedy terrain movement. You may also take flight in the space helicopter.

Procedural 3D Tileset - Build anything you want with our unique 3D Tilesets. You can create towns, villages, bridges, forts, and much more. It is also fully destructible! Ramps and stairs are also included.

Physics Sandbox - We are designing the world to be fully dynamic. This currently includes chopping down trees, turrets, and enemies.

Physics Movement - Our movement model is designed closely around the real bio mechanics of biped locomotion; The result is a more human look and feel, and a character that is equipped to intelligently react to dangers far beyond what conventional movement code was designed to handle. It also features a full body IK system.

Resources and Economy - There will be many different resources in StarForge. However, the player can only hold so much at a time. When the player can no longer hold what he mined, he will have to build containers to store them into. This makes resources tangible and gives you the ability to steal other players resources.

Multiplayer & SinglePlayer - We have both modes playable in the game.

Survival - In this mode you are tasked with surviving on the planet. You will encounter enemies, find new blueprints, gather weapons, build a base, and so much more.

Creative - In this mode you have unlimited resources and can build at great speeds. You may also place creatures anywhere you want.

It was good while it lasted. Developers are trash for leaving a game with such potential. The developers should release the source of this so someone else can take this can continue the game.

These guys are going to be my first negative review and that sucks for me. I remember the trailer showcasing what was coming to StarForge and the planned updates. I remember feeeling excited for this content updates. Then they started waning off, not really adding anything while updating with "bug fixes" with no change logs. These developers took the money and ran, and the worst part is they didn't apologize, they didn't leave a note to their community, they came out of Early Access way too soon and ripped us off of our hard earned money. These guys are an example of why the Review System is a wonderful thing. You owe your communicty more respect, and for that I cannot recommend this half finished, broken game. Take this and learn from it.

So I got bored and was like hm I wonder... Can my $2,000 PC run this? I mean I did have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ laptop originally. Well much to my surprise the game actually ran at over 60Hz... Though I think it's more of a testament to the 1080's power.... Despite it running at normal frames it crashed literally every five seconds... By far the most stable game in existance.... Ahhh I spent money on this. Could've gotten hot wings instead.

Quite possibly the worst $20 I ever spent. The developers chewed off way more than they could handle and then gave up.

It's been nearly 2 years since the last update

PRODUCTION HAS STOPPED. They abandoned this project and moved onto Reign of Kings.

Reign of Kings forum was closed off so people could not warn everyone to not support the developers. Now people who own Reign of Kings are ♥♥♥♥♥♥ because they're getting the same treatment.

Class action lawsuit anyone?

Well... it's been 3 years. I've seen the growth and decline of Starforge, sadly. I'll be brief: this game had HEAPS of potential. The promised features, the ones we never got, could have made Starforge a hit, and it only didn't work because CodeHatch couldn't administer the funding received from their Indiegogo's campaign. Well, that's one part of it.

Another one was that they just couldn't muster enough spirit to break the news to the community that they were broke. Codehatch devs just left all of the people that funded them in the dark, while releasing sketchy updates with little to no content.

Starforge is "playable"... it just isn't Starforge at all. Do not ever buy this. If you are curious, download it and you'll probably spend, like, 10 minutes untill the lack of EVERYTHING makes you uninstall the game. It is quite upsetting that there aren't even mods to fix this pile of garbage.

Do not buy this game.

I bought this game in order to support the development for this potentially great game. Over 2 years ago.
Unfortunately the 'devs' appear to have disappeared - or simply do not care about the game anymore.

I bought the Starforged founders pack back when it first went on sale over 3 years ago. I played it for 1.2 hours with my buddy and boy oh boy what a massive let down. This was still before the actual release of the game and it was a complete pre alpha, buggy mess. So much so that I just couldn't even play it. The system requirements for the game I easily exceeded, yet, I felt like I was running the most graphic intensive game at the time... It felt like running Fallout 4 on an old intel duo processor computer. That alone annoyed me. My buddy kept trying to appeal to me saying it was pre-alpha and that the devs will fix it all in time, the game is still coming along. Fine I said, although that maybe true, I will not put my time into something that's going to annoy me. So I waited.

And waited...
And waited...
AND WAITED...

With each new update they broke more and more of the game. With each new update the outcry from the players of the game got more and more viceral. Until now, we have the final update and the complete letdown that it is. I now fully understand that the game they presented to us in pre-alpha was the game they were trying to pitch in the first place. It was never going to get any better than what they had as a finished product. They put it on steam under the greenlight of pre-alpha and stole all of our money with the intent to NEVER fix their game. They spent the minimal time required to put out as many updates as they did, which were never intended to make the game more playable. It's almost as if they trolled us compeltely as a community because they could.

DEV #1 "Oh look, the players are crying out about bugs and glitches in some of the game play mechanics"
DEV #2 "okay... Just remove those game play mechanics, serves them right."
DEV #1 "BRILLIANT"

Do not buy this game. If you did buy this game refund it. If you are unable to get a refund seek out a class action lawsuit. There is enough evidence here of development neglect and intent to sell an unfinished product. I'm not joking about this, with enough support, we as a community could sue these devs. They even have a track record, just look at Reign of Kings... Same story different game.

Most disappointing EA ever made.
They quickly moved from EA to full release just to sell more copies without fixing anything like bugs, performance or adding content which they promised in kickstarter and roadmaps.
