About This Game

StarForge is a sci fi survival sandbox. Hunt to eat, dig for resources, craft many items, build a fort, and fight enemies in order to survive! Do this alone, or with other players, in a fully infinite procedural world.

Key Features in StarForge:

Procedural Infinite Voxel Terrain - There are no set boundaries in StarForge; the planet will procedurally generate each time you start a new game. The terrain supports plains, mountains, deserts, mountains, caves, overhangs, rocks, and much more. The world is infinite, meaning you will be able to run in a single direction for as long as your computer can support it.

Underground/Surface/Space Gameplay - Build a tower that ascends into the clouds, through the atmosphere, then into space, and do this in real-time with no loading screens.

Dynamic World - Enjoy dynamic weather patterns, a 24 day and night cycle, and a real time atmosphere. Creatures drop loot and attack the player and sometimes other creatures. Players can also swim and find water or lava in the game.

Loot and Survive - Before the humans landed countless weapons and armor were sent to Atlas. You will find loot chests littered throughout the land, you will need their contents to survive.

Vehicle Gameplay - Hop on board a 4 wheeled all terrain vehicle with a friend and traverse the world. Or jump into a hovercraft for speedy terrain movement. You may also take flight in the space helicopter.

Procedural 3D Tileset - Build anything you want with our unique 3D Tilesets. You can create towns, villages, bridges, forts, and much more. It is also fully destructible! Ramps and stairs are also included.

Physics Sandbox - We are designing the world to be fully dynamic. This currently includes chopping down trees, turrets, and enemies.

Physics Movement - Our movement model is designed closely around the real bio mechanics of biped locomotion; The result is a more human look and feel, and a character that is equipped to intelligently react to dangers far beyond what conventional movement code was designed to handle. It also features a full body IK system.

Resources and Economy - There will be many different resources in StarForge. However, the player can only hold so much at a time. When the player can no longer hold what he mined, he will have to build containers to store them into. This makes resources tangible and gives you the ability to steal other players resources.

Multiplayer & SinglePlayer - We have both modes playable in the game.

Survival - In this mode you are tasked with surviving on the planet. You will encounter enemies, find new blueprints, gather weapons, build a base, and so much more.

Creative - In this mode you have unlimited resources and can build at great speeds. You may also place creatures anywhere you want.

Pre-Release Review
Pretty much every feature that made the game unique and interesting has been stripped out, leaving a generic husk behind. Anyone who does not sing the game's praises is banned and all forum posts to that end are deleted, once the devs actually get round to the bi-yearly forum look. The devs themselves go dark between updates, surfacing every now and again to put the game on sale and coincidentally release a patch to give the illusion of progress. Content that was removed years ago is spruced up and readded to gather additional sales.

To top it all off, once people started realising that the game was being rushed to release and started questioning the developers they were removed from all means of communication. Around 15,000 posts were deleted. The entire moderation team was banned for "trolling". As, amongst other things, we refused to remove negative posts and went as far as to say that the game was being rushed out. They've laid off over half of their staff, including senior developers and the community managers (both of them) going from 30 to 12.

I saw a video for starforge.
Some time later:
Oh, they removed the wall running.
Oh, and the crazy physics,
and the space....
the weapon customization...

herpes/10, would never again.

As an owner of 800+ titles on Steam, many of them Early Access and an early supporter and investor of StarForge, having bought multiple Founder's Packs during its Alpha stage, this is no doubt single-handedly the biggest betrayal of any Early Access game I've ever financially supported. The concept had potential, but their results, effort, and frankly passion were complete garbage, right up until their so called "final" release (more like the final straw). Clearly they were here to run with our money from the get go. From here on, we will be tracking down the Devs and their future projects to ensure they stay blacklisted by the community. No one backstabs their supporters like these scum have done. Cheers everyone.

When my people which I hate often ask me which game I would recommend them, I say Starforge. This game is so 'amazing' that I have bought it for my Ex's birthday. The graphics resemble walks with my dog, you know what I mean, the smelly things. And that 'wonderful' sound effects remind me my mother-in-law singin' in a shower. Watching funeral provides more entertainment than this game. Gameplay is so wooden that sometimes have feeling that I play lumberjack simulator.

to summarize: .... .. . is it a joke?

The devs lied and abandoned the game and conned people out of their money.

Valve WILL NOT refund you and neither will the devs.

If you see any future games from these devs on youtube or anywhere esle, do the world a favour and warn them about these corrupt devs ;)

The developers of starforge released a game far inferior to their plans. Sf lacks any real goals that can't be achieved within a couple of hours of gameplay-all goals are short term and then... The "fun factor" is simply not there.

The situation with starforge and it's tremendous lies/failure is unfortunate.

A much greater tragedy is the wave of discontent their shame has radiated. Games with serious potential (like Empyrion Galactic Survival) are getting a lot of unwarranted skepticism, or in some cases being denied crowd funding, due to starforge's stain on this genre of game. Starforge's reputation is hurting the crowfunding concept in general and it is sad to say the least.

So not only is it tarnished with shortcomings, but it is also infecting our beloved supporter backed crowd funding revolution of enthusiasts who are making amazing ambitious games possible that would otherwise, perhaps, have less of a chance than big companies with lots of money.

To the Reader, please do not let the reputation of starforge inhibit your decisions to help other developers further great games and ambitious projects.

Noone can promise all developers/games are going to make it, but none of them will make it big without YOU.

Thank You.

This was the biggest let down since brink. And believe me, when I saw how brink was when I bought it, I cried. Literally. Granted I was less mature then, but even now I could enjoy those let-down games such as brink. I could still enjoy it. NOT THE CASE WITH THIS. The developers had NO excuse whatsoever to even release this as an early alpha, let alone a full release. When you play this game, there will be some kind of texture glitch or wonkyness or failure in game coding that always appears after a matter of two minutes. There is no challenge- enemies are few and far between, are all very repetetive, and easy to kill nonetheless. Let's go over some of the "promises" the developing team fell short on:
1. A fully flexible creative mode; you can enter "creative" mode but it is no different than survival. Only difference is no enemies. You can die, and more insulting yet, when you open the crafting menu it tells you you have an infinite amount of resources; and it doesn't allow you to craft anything at all because you don't have enough resources.
2. A creative and enjoyable team fortress mode; the mediocre fortress defense I saw in the early alpha was not only neglected, but was removed entirely from the game! All I can conclude is that the developers were lazy in this regard.
3. Realistic movement with parkour!; Parkour physics were completely disabled. The movement is nothing short of pathetic; your character flails their arms around like they're doing an olympic 100 meter sprint when you so much as walk. I actually laughed when I crouched, and rather than bending it's knees, the character literally just SHRUNK. This game's movement is more wonky than goat simulator's, and goat simulator intentionally made their character physics as wonky as possible to be silly!!
4. SPACE!!!; Space exists, I'll give it that, but there is nothing significant about it. Nothing you could find in space you couldn't find in the ground. Getting there is extremely difficult. And once you get there, it is essentially nothing more than a picture meant to look like space with your character in a freefall.
5. Vehicles; it's really tough to explain, but they just aren't good. They aren't useful, and have some of the most shoddy physics I've ever seen.
6. Dynamic environment. I mean, I GUESS it exists. This is the only promise that was still upheld; however, it's garbage. You have to take a drill or thumper and stick it into the terrain, at which point all it essentially does is modify the terrain in a way that looks like youre changing the game's code.
7. Randomized, procedural weapon genertor; this is one of the saddest shortcomings, since the developers actually showed this off as a mostly working feature in the alpha. You would open a weapon crate, and out would come a gun with whatever design or a random number of barrels, or perhaps even a chainsaw with multiple blades. I thought "well it's mediocre, but they obviously are taking it seriously!" but no. THEY TOOK IT OUT ENTIRELY. There are five weapons in the game, all of which must be crafted and are not randomly generated whatsoever. Well, ten weapons, if you include the other five weapons that are basically just "rusty" versions of the other five.

The store page is honestly pathetic. Those promising quotes you see? Under the "reviews?" Those were from super early alpha, which was no way predicting of the game's current state. Something that is worth mentioning is the "loot and survive" element mentioned. You basically have to endlessly scour the terrain looking for the most ridiculously random crates just laying around. It's ridiculous at best.
I should say, to say this game's texture graphics look like something that came out of a hippopotamous's rear end would be VERY, VERY generous. This game makes my 2003 harry potter video game look like crysis.
And the icing, (icing made of fecal matter) on the cake? These developers are not only bad at developing games, but they are terrible as developers. If someone politely points out a criticism on the forums, a dev will literally, no joke or misquote, tell them to f**k off. We get it, you might be proud of your creation, but you're marketing it to real people for real money. As insulted as you might feel, there is no excuse to blindly assuming a customer is stupid because they don't like your game!!
Lastly, I feel like a should mention the tutorial. This game is extremely, EXTREMELY confusing to pick up. I saw it had a tutorial, I thought "oh sweet! A tutorial!" And it told me "wasd moves, space jumps, ctrl 'crouches', and you need a workbench to craft anything." Yeah, THANKS.

Overall, 0/10 I would rather spood feed my urethra with rusty needles and become an interspecies human centipede with various critters of the jungle. I would rather be forced to have an intimate moment with one of the bizarrely topheavy aliens in this game. I would rather stick a toothpick in my toenail and kick the wall. I would rather cut myself all over and jump in a pool of lemon juice, than I would like to give this game a review that is even 1% positive.

Do not buy this game.

Lying devs who ban people talking negatively against this game, even when it's constructive criticism.

I can't believe it's not Early Access anymore, so many things were promised but this game turned out awful. Not worth a penny in my opinion. It's boring, has high requirements for such awful graphics and there's simply no joy in the gameplay.

Perhaps I am on the wrong track but it seems to me, that someone played MineCraft Multiplayer PvP and thought, "let's do it with nice graphics and better".

And then he tried and failed.

There is no need, even no sense to go deep mining from the beginning, because you can mine for hours without finding ore, but if you just run around you will on the surface little hills which are pure oil, coal, titanium or whatever.

In survival you need to eat. Nice. You hunt, you kill some animals. These animals shall give me meat. Sometimes they do.
But these are really interesting animals, very often they do not consist of meat, but they carry guns, blueprints and ore. Sure. Very funny. I am in need for something to eat, I kill 10 animals and get 4 pieces of food which is not enough to create the thingy you will really eat? Very funny.

The whole game seems to be about: join with some guys, gather blueprints and ore from the surface, create weapons and vehicles, kill.

This game is NOT about mining and construction. These are things which are possible, which are even fun, but they are not supported in a meaningful way.

So, if you are looking for a MineCraft clone, nope. Wrong game.
If you are looking for a shooter, nope, wrong game too, because it just not really a good shooter.

It is just the try to create a MineCraft PVP clone which failed.

It is a shame.
Many parts of the game are really fun. But it is as if there was no project lead which just steps back, looks at the whole picture and tells the guys where they have to change/add/remove something, so that the whole picture makes sense.

Sorry, but I say: do not buy

I bought this a year ago when the trailer featured your character jumping out of spaceships onto new worlds, running at ridiculous speeds across the landscape, and mining them for their resources. It also advertised near infinite procedurally generated weapons. Instead I got a starship troopers simulator at 20FPS.

It was a piece of ♥♥♥♥ game back then, and so I thought it would be polished when it was released.

I come back to the exact same game, but now it's more expensive.

I bought this a year or so ago, and I have to say, back when it was in development, the company Codehatch was all about talking with the fans and listening to their inputs. Now that their game was released fully, and no more promised content coming out, broken server browsers. It's like once Codehatch got their money, they just ran with it.

It's a fun game, don't get me wrong, it's just the fact that the creators had abandoned it and stopped updating us with anything about it, or anything they are working on for that matter. The company seems to have just disappeared. Don't support this type of behavior.

First of all, haven't played this game in a while so it may have broken even more, but I've never gotten a crash error on it. IDK, could be the ghost in the machine or whatever, but never seemed to be an issue for me.

Second of all, I got this game on sale. I never buy early access full price unless it's been personally recommended to me (think Kerbal) and I have to say I am reaping the benefits of following this one rule. The game is 20$ right now, and right now that would get you put in prison sharing a cell with Butch McDick if you tried getting it from people in a retirement home by telling them that you're their long lost son James. Because that's what this game is in current form, a big deception. I paid like 5$ for this game and that was about the max this is worth.

It's not about the content per se, the content is def 5$ worthy. It's what was sold. If the point of Early Access is to buy into a game vision then this game just took a dump in your eyes because they sold you a picture of a Lamborghini and gave you a trike painted red and told you there'd be "updates". The Devs promised more and sold the game on it. Sorry, you don't get to walk away because it turned out to be more work than you thought it would be.

I wasn't as ripped off as many of the folks on here were but the deception is still the same. Save your money. If there weren't deception I'd recommend this game for 5 bucks max, but when you lie to the community, you don't get rewarded. Take the game down, it doesn't need to trap any more people.
