This software is life-changing. My wife fought the idea of having a strict budget for quite awhile but since we started this system, she has eventually grown to love it. The key is to give yourself a discretionary fund in your budget. A specific amount that you can spend without question on anything you want. I cannot recommend this software enough and believe that it will improve anyone's finances regardless of your situation. The free classes, webinars, and YouTube videos are priceless. Buy the software, watch the videos, take notes, be serious about it, and reap the rewards.

UPDATE (06/22/15)
My wife and I have 6 full months into serious budgeting using this software. I'm happy to report that our lives are now radically different than it used to be before budgeting.

We have payed off all of our credit cards, my credit rating has significantly increased and is now above 800! Also, we now have thousands of dollars in the bank with a viable savings account. It is June and we already have half of our entire Christmas fund saved up! For reference, none of the above statements were true this time last year.

Our ability to absorb even extreme unforeseen events is growing dramatically by the month. Ironically, budgeting is now liberating and my wife absolutely loves it. She no longer has to ask if she can buy that new dress, or if we have the money for her to go get her hair colored and cut (examples). Everything is in the budget, she can just go on a regular basis, or buy herself anything she wants with her money or she can choose to save some of it for next month and get something even bigger lol.

Six months in and I still cannot recommend this enough. I actually look at nonbudgeters now with a degree of pity. Their lives can be so much better!

Seriously guys, I can't tell you how many times I've heard someone say that they do budget because they have a spreadsheet. Trust me, if all you have to manage your finances is a spreadsheet, then you do not budget.

10/10 - Right on Budget

It's Steam, a Game Platform. Today I often open Steam not to play game, but to rechecking my expense, lol.

This software is great, either for personal use or small start up company. The only cons is this software is not supported multi currency.

Try this, it's free for 30 days, this tools can help us to manage our (gaming) expense :D

I picked YNAB up in a Steam Sale a while back. I'd casually had my eye on it, so when the price dropped, I snapped it up.

Wow. A year later, count me as one more life seriously changed for the better. As someone who almost never buys anything new or full price, I would buy YNAB full-price again in a heartbeat. It's a great piece of software that is very well focused, and does what it's supposed to very well, which is keeping you on track, building good habits, and figuring out where all your money is going, and how to get it under control. And while it's focused, it's also flexible in the best way: it gives you enough rope to hang yourself if you really want to, but gently warns you along the way of the pitfalls of straying from the system.

Which is where part two comes in: it's not just a piece of software, it's a system. The app is just a really streamlined, endlessly helpful way to follow the system, that makes it way easier, and way less prone to failure. YNAB started as a system - the software came later, and it shows in how polished the whole experience is. Do yourself a favor and read through the method before you just dive in. Or take one of the free webcast classes. They really have figured out this system well, just trust them and go along with it, and see how it goes. After all, you bought budget software because you haven't figured it out yet, right?

I had been saying "man, I need a budget" for several years, and given it several failed tries with different software, before I finally sat down, read up, and got set up with YNAB, and it's the only one that has stuck.

And if that weren't enough: their support is rock-solid. I had an issue with my budget, filed a support request, and the support person was knowledgeable, friendly, incredibly helpful, and got the issue resolved ridiculously fast. Which is why I finally sat down and wrote this review - since I already bought it, I wanted to do something to say thanks. So thanks, A, for your excellent customer service.

Bonuses: they have a free companion phone app to enter transactions on-the-go, and the desktop app runs flawlessly under WINE. I run Linux exclusively, and haven't experienced any issues. You don't even have to have it running via Steam, since Steam can be cumbersome to run under WINE - just download the standalone version and follow the directions to copy over your activation key. Couldn't be easier. Oh, as a sidebar, because of that, don't believe my hours on record - I've used it for way more than 10 hours, but not via Steam.

11/10 stars, excellent software, brilliant system, rock-solid support. The only thing that could make me happier is a native Linux version, but with WINE working solidly, that's a minor gripe for me. Well worth dropping the $60 - I promise you'll very quickly make that money up if you're trying to get a handle on your finances.

This is a great game. Basically you go do things for people or institutions and get points for your labor based on a bunch of factors: what the market is like where you choose to live, education, perserverence and just old fashioned luck.

You plug your points for the month into "You Need a Budget 4" and then use your points to pay rent, buy food, deal with health issues. To keep yourself from getting too stressed, don't forget to budget entermainment or travel! I even budget for Steam! (Meta) If you play your cards right, you save! Your points carry over month after month and year after year and you manage to live into old age without descending into poverty and squalor.

10/10 would play again.

HIGHLY recommended, especially if you're unfamiliar with how to set up a budget and have been living paycheque to paycheque. A nice clear method to see exactly what money is going where, and how much at a glance. Once you get it set up initially, it's very easy to log in for 10 minutes a week and update your budget. Flexible for all lifestyles, it teaches you that budgets are not strict and they change from week to week. It's nice to know exactly what to cut back on and to plan ahead. My only issue would be the cost, but if you wait for a sale it's not so bad.
