Remake done. Release date - soon!

I am very super happy to announce that the No Time To Explain remake is now done.

The game has been completely rebuilt in Unity.

We are now working on integrating it with Steam's APIs - including cloud saves and Workshop for the Level Editor. When that's done, we'll find a nice timeslot to release. It shouldn't be that long.

Expect features like local multiplayer, controller support, reinvisioned boss fights, and more. This will be the definitive version of No Time To Explain.

Very soon :)

No Time to Explain

Awesome game, its has been updated with new levels and content.
Fun story with many worlds to play in.
it looks like Super Meat Boy, but it focus on mouse control rather than keyboard only.
I hope this game will be patched.

I decided to buy this Newgrounds flash port and give it a try when it was showcased at PAX Prime and when it got the recommendation of Markiplier.

After slightly above 10 minutes of gameplay, it became pretty obvious that this game is a complete piece of trash and I've got no interest in subjecting myself to anymore of this half-baked and unpolished game. Here are some pros and cons...

•There is a tinge of humour which actually made me chuckle once or twice.

•The cartoonish art style is pretty good.

•Weapons seem powerful with the FX that the game inplements.

•The soundtrack is decent.

•The game lacks polishing with bugs and crashes popping up ever so often.

•Extremely low FPS despite my build having more than enough VRAM and processing power which is stated in the -requirements.

•Freezes ever so often and "graphic intensive" parts, especially boss fights.

•The only penalty for dying is a 2 second respawn delay which in some cases will respawn you in a solid object, forcing you to restart the level.

•Horrible hitbox detection on enemies, destroyable blocks and such.

•A +/- resolution changer which DOES NOT have any effect on the horrible FPS... Wait seriously?

•Some achievement do not have the correct requirements stated on them.

•All the levels are trial and error.

•Most if not all of the artwork is reused, creating a very repeated atmosphere which is not at all enjoyable.

•Controls are mediocre at best. The "laser jetpack" at the first few levels completely killed it for me.

•Completely out of place images above the height limit etc. Devs, are you actually blind or simply decided not to give a s**t?

•The pointer is not locked in the game, so windowed mode players beware. You'll find yourself having to alt-tab back into the game more than you would when switching tabs of porn and schoolwork when your parents are home.

All in all, I do not recommend this game if it's price stays anything above 1 USD.That's around the amount of $ you make selling the card drops. It's a F2P game that somehow managed to get a $4 pricetag slapped on it. Do not buy unless you like fighting with the lag/controls instead of playing with the actual game.

A simple version of super meat boy.

No Time To Explain is a 2D platformer. The aim of the game is reach the shiny portal at the end of the map. In order to do so, you need to use your gun to help propel you (as well as fight off bosses) to the given direction. During the game, you will be crossing many traps such as spikes and pitfalls. Sometimes at the end of the level there will be a boss fight. When you die, you will respawn immediately near the previous platform you were on before death. The gun can also be used to destroy certain blocks as well.

The story is somewhat funny. Basically your future self crashes into the room saying that they're from the future and "there's no time to explain", before being captured by a monster. You then have to proceed through the level chasing said monster, until you face them at the end and rescue your future self.

The sound effects are decent. The gun sounds powerful to when fired. The dialogue your future self spews at the start of each stage is a bit funny, but loses its touch after a while. The music is alright.

The controls need a bit of fine tuning. I found it somewhat difficult to reach certain heights with the the gun, as the controls felt a bit twitchy.

You can also where different types of hats while playing, You start off with nothing (I think) and then you have to search for more hats in each stage. Each level should only contain 1 hat. Hats are purely cosmetic and don't alter gameplay. There is also a level editor mode where you can download and create your own levels as well as publish your work as well.

If your looking for a easier 'super meat boy' game this is the game for you.

Before I state the good and the bad i want to say that it has been a few years since a game actully made me laugh.

The good
~ graphics fit the setting
~ it is funny
~ cheap
~ good mechanic ideas
~ good variation in levels

The bad
~ laggy inputs
~ really lag in general even when standing still

From what you see above you can assume that the game is held back hardware wise not game play wise, and in assuming that you would be corect. The reason for the lag was because the game is built on the flash engine. So far for me the game has been fairly enjoyable there are a few rage inducing segments but that just makes it feel all the better when you beat them. The game as a whole is not that challenging. Apart from the ocasinal hold up the game should be pretty easy. As for game-play the way you get around is by shooting a laser or a shotgun. Ther is also a man who does a sudo flying type thing but that is for very little of the game. The shotgun is my preferred method. You begin with the laser witch functions like a jet-pack. You will use this to jump over and fly around obsticals. The shot gun will launch you into the air almost as if some one threw you. So you will use the arching launch to get around obsticals. There are a few boss fights that consist of you targeting a specific place on the boss with your laser while dodging its attacks. These boss fights are almost always played with the laser equiped. The graphics are fun and fast they look like they fit the personality of the game but i am sure that some will find them unatractive in motion they are a little wiggley so I would recomend checking out a gameplay vid if graphics are important to you. The comedy in this game is pretty strait forward but because of how it is presented it will be a real treat but it will get old within an hour and a half. over all I would say this is a must have game and they have been talking about fixing the lag issue after that is fixed in my opinion this game will be perfect. MY RIBS ARE IN MY EYES

Short and fun platformer with funny cutscenes. Gotta say the cutscenes are probably the best part of the game.

Most of the time, the mechanics are "aim your raygun away from the direction you want to be boosted." Even after beating the game, I still haven't gotten the hang of that. Some worlds are played as a different character with a different mechanic.

It took me about 3 hours to beat this game without getting all of the collectibles (hats.) Afterwards it let me choose "Disk 2" - though that took me to just the same level selection as before, so dunno what that means.

Some levels or boss fights were somewhat laggy on my system (Win7x64, i7-920, Radeon HD4850), but hardly unplayable. However, there are forum posts complaining about unplayable lag, so take that into consideration.

Surprisingly fun, all things considered. I played the original No Time to Explain flash game when it was still fresh, and honestly found it to be pretty boring. And truth be told, I'm very critical of games on Steam that seem like they'd be better suited to Kongregate or my phone (Snuggle Truck, I'm looking at you). All that said, I really enjoyed this much more fleshed out version of No Time to Explain, and it gets a pass from me as a game that fits right in in my Steam library.

When No Time begins, you're minding your own business, dancing like a dork in your living room. When without warning, a version of you from the future appears, states the game's title, and is promptly grabbed by the giant, mutant crab that smashes through the side of your house. Future you drops his... rectangle thing. This gun (as it turns out) shoots a blue beam which delivers enough thrust to propel you when wielded properly, and just happens to be the core mechanic of the game. You run out across the hills, jumping through portals to different times and dimensions, defeat the crab, and rescue your future self. And the game is underway.

The thrust gun takes a little getting used to. I've heard complaints about the physics behind it, but honestly I never had much trouble controlling it. Just gotta point in the right direction, and remember to jump and thrust at the sameish time for maximum lift. You'll get the hang of it, soon enough.

The overall difficulty of the game jumps around. There are some parts which are rather frustrating, but luckily you can start over right where you just were most of the time. Respawning is weird in this game. Typically you reappear standing on the last safe surface you were on before you died. This can make some boss fights laughably easy as you stand in place dying repeatedly but instantly respawning in the same exact place as you fire your gun continuously at the weak point. At times, though, you can die in ways which will restart the level. This typically happens on the more puzzle-oriented stages, or when you stay on fire or sizzling with acid for too long. Stage-reset deaths are featured in certain boss fights, as well, so you'd better figure out the tricks to staying alive if you hope to make it through.

The thing I love most about No Time is that it's constantly trying to reinvent its gameplay. Sometimes this just involves a new mechanic, like catching yourself on fire to burn down barriers, or flying along blasting dinosaurs in a shoot 'em up segment. Sometimes it involves completely replacing that central thrust gun mechanic. In one memorable bit, your thrust gun is replaced with a powerful shotgun. In another, you have no gun and must use psychic powers to fling yourself along. My favorite part is the "video games are art" dimension, and I'll leave it to you to wonder what that's all about.

The humor is decent enough. The game is weird, the plot manic, and the characters lovably un-self-aware. There are a great number of hats to collect across probably most of the game's levels, ranging from basic, to silly, to bizarre, to completely nonsensical. These are usually more than just a simple hat, often transforming your head entirely. Hats offer no gameplay advantage, but the variety is such that I'm always excited to see what a new one turns out to be. Some are pretty well hidden, or tough to get to, too. So they offer decent replayability, if you decide you gotta catch 'em all.

I had fun. At the time of this writing, though, the game is actually really glitchy. I encountered numerous glitches on my way through. None game-breaking, but some strange visual errors and general choppiness cropped up now and then. As I hear it, this is because the devs are in the process of updating the game and transferring it to a new engine. This update will be free to anyone who already owns this version of the game, which is nice. So it's up to you whether you want to grab it cheap now and have the new version when it comes out, or just wait and get the update. But I do recommend one of the above.

My friend sent this game to me as a birthday present today. I've just finished it in two hours. I must say that, this is a great game. Visuals are cool and scenario is funny. Some levels are very hard. The only bad thing is game is expensive for two hours gameplay. However you should try it!

I find the KB&M config annoying for this game. I like the puzzels and challenges, but when my mouse gets too far from the guy, I almost always shoot in the wrong direction.

Using one stick for shooting and the other for movement would be way easier to manage, using a trigger for firing and the other shoulder buttons for jumping or dancing, IDK

It would make this game much nicer on my wrists.

IDK what people are saying about lag, I run it fine, little lag at the first scene, every time, but no issues once I am up n going. (other than cramped wrists after a bit...

This is a cut n paste of my opinion posted in the discussion forum for this game. I can say I would mention this title to Mega Man fans more than anyone, and my only real complaint is the lack of controller support, I enjoy the rest of the game and would likely play more of it, if I could be comfortable.

No Time to Explain is a awesome, very creative and unique platformer experience. NTE will make you laugh til your sides hurt with its witty dialogue throughout. Dont let all the hilarious whacky stuff in the game throw you off, NTE is challenging and sometimes it makes you want to pull your hair out. Take my word for it, if you do not own this game give it a try, it is well worth the money. :) :)

+ Great art style
+ Humourous Storyline
+ Challenging levels
+ User Created Content
+ Good Overall Length

- Technical Issues on Windows 7 / 8
- No Gamepad Support
- Framerate issues on higher resolutions
- A few levels are too difficult which can hault player progress
- Bosses seem to be too easy
- No health system, so when you get "damaged" it seems pointless

Overall, a pretty good platformer, that I'd recommend to those who enjoy games of this genre.

No Time to Explain started life as a short flash game playing around with the same idea as this title has at the start. For its retail release, however, No Time has been fleshed out to a huge degree, packing a ton more highly diverse levels and a number of challenges, plus lots of completionist items to find. There’s a high degree of variety here, and while between chapters the game can sometimes feel completely different from what players were previously experiencing, it’s all held together by underpinnings of common mechanics. The variety in the levels is what makes No Time to Explain so much fun. Where No Time really excels is in humor. It’s bubbling over with craziness, whether it’s the painful screams of your future self or the themes of the various stages. All that positive outlook aside, my time with No Time was fraught with serious bugs and technical issues. The one that plagued me most was a graphical glitch concerning your aiming cursor for the laser cannon.I hit a second almost-game-breaking bug later in the game during one of the boss fights, where I couldn’t trigger a win condition. That said, No Time is fun and very funny, and often its platform design is intelligent as well as fresh and challenging. At its small price, I’d say that it’s worth the gamble that bugs won’t crop up.

Good premise, interesting story and gameplay, but just really really badly put together game. You have to move your mouse quickly, often around the edges of the screen, but it doesn't lock the mouse to the window. In full screen mode, if you have multiple monitors, you'll often find yourself clicking outside the game, causing it to minimize. Windowed mode is practically unplayable.

The resolution selector is just a set of -/+ buttons - you have to sit there clicking +, with the screen flashing until you think you've got the right resolution (it doesn't tell you).

The icing on the cake is that while 95% of the levels are fun, 5% of them are incredibly tedious and will probably make you ragequit.

The gameplay is fun and varied, weapons sfx make them feel powerful, the setting is hilarious, the software itself is trash, the work overall shows extreme lack of polish.

If you dont mind you may get it and try to play it despite its bugs and issues. I dont recommend it at full price despite how cheap it is.

This game deserved better programming. Issues include very low-low fps, hiccups (garbage collector i guess), freezes (not at critical points though), some gameplay issues that can be forgiven but include checkpoints that respawn you at impossible positions, collision issues (hitbox and navigation), bad audio options (some sounds are not affected by volume controls for instance), some menu options dont save between sessions, they even get reset during execution, some cutscenes can't be skipped. Regarding obvious lack of polish, for example, one achievement requires beating a time limit displayed on screen, the time limit is wrong, wrong total count of level secrets (i.e. it says 2, it's actually 3), etc, There are even images that dont belong being displayed on top of the game scene and cutscenes, taking space and looking ugly in general (are the devs blind?).

Game difficulty is mixed, but easy overall. Plenty of hits just stun you, but the rest kill you in one hit, yet you have infinite continues and the game keeps checkpoints dynamically so you never have to replay more than a couple of seconds. This means most of the game is easy... yet in a few areas of the game you will have to complete the entire level in one go, just because (diabetes world, mole boss, aura of fire evil clone are some areas you will have to step up your game).

It's a nice concept marred by horrible execution: the game runs in Flash (with all the terrible framerate issues that entails), is poorly optimized, legitimately breaks if you're playing in windowed mode, and even basic mechanics fail to work on occasion. While the writing is genuinely funny, and the gameplay fun in concept, please do not support such shoddy execution with your money.

This game is completely and utterly ridiculous... but in a good way... for the most part... sort of. It all starts when another you (from the future) crashes through your wall to explain that he has no time to explain - just as a giant crab grabs him. From there, things only get more convoluted and silly. The whole story aspect, including the dialogue and voice acting, is worth experiencing for the ridiculousness-factor alone. What is less good is the actual gameplay. The game is a 2D puzzle platformer, with a twist. Your main tool is a gun that shoots mega-laser beams. However, you don't really use it to kill things much, aside from bosses. Instead, you use the gun as a tool to propel yourself through the air by pointing at the ground (or walls) and shooting while jumping. Note: controls are via keyboard/mouse only (there is no gamepad support at all).

The game is divided into a series of levels that you need to navigate. Each level is, essentially, a puzzle that needs to be solved by gun-jumping in a specific way. Along the way, new mechanics and abilities are introduced, so thankfully, it's not the same old thing over and over again, which is really nice. The problem is that the controls are frustrating as hell. To say the gun-jumping is finicky would be an understatement. You will die over and over again in rapid succession. Thankfully, there is no real penalty for dying. You are always revived instantly at the last safe piece of ground you stood on. Even so, some sections of the game are still really annoying. So your patience will most definitely be tested. Throw in a whole crapload of glitches and bugs on top of everything, and the overall game experience ends up being less than what it could have been. Clearly, this is a low budget game, so some of these issues can be forgiven under those circumstances... but even so, I just wish it was more polished. So while I do think this is worth playing for the unique experience alone, just be warned that in order to get that experience, you'll have to put up with some serious challenges (some as part of the game design, and some as consequences of the inconsistent controls). The game takes around 2-4 hours to fully complete, which feels about right. If you are interested in trying it, I'd say take a chance when it's on sale for at least 50% off (preferably more). It is definitely not worth the full asking price, in my opinion.
