It is a very good piece of software for anyone interested in creating 2D games without programing skills. The free version allows for 100 lines of code, however- barely adequite in my humble opinion. However, it is still fantastic for those people who like to create simple games without having to learn a programing language.

The paid price is killing me, but the free version is already enough for someone new in game making like me.
I got a headache when using GameMaker: Studio, so I migrate to Construct 2.

Great for beginners who know little to none about coding a game, but it can also be used by those who do know how to code and it offers an easier why to implement your code into the game.

I love construct 2 but let me break it down for someone wanting to make a game.

Unless you got a ton of money to buy everything,

1. Your going to have to create your own art which sounds easy but to make anything worth playing it's going to take serious time and dedication. We are talking HOURS,DAYS,MONTHS even YEARS.

2. Your going to have to make your own sound effects, music ect..

3. It seems simple at first shure you can get a ball to roll around but whats that you want to make this super cool excellent mulitplayer game that will make you mega rich!? HAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
First off your going to have to shut yourself in become a hermit drink gallons of tea for hours, lose sleep, become paranoid of the outside world,Read legal ♥♥♥♥ over and over and over and over and over... Invest TONS of ♥♥♥♥ing money! then you'll make 20 bucks off your $800 investment WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! OH but it gets better! That "no coding" this is more like... you don't have to code but you have to learn how to work this ♥♥♥♥ing program and all the damn bugs that arise not to mention it would probley be easier to learn JAVA then this. MY GOD YOU WILL LOSE YOUR LIFE TO THIS ♥♥♥♥ING PROGRAM THAT WILL GIVE U NIGHTMARES AT NIGHT TILL THE POINT YOUR BUGGED OUT!

4. You'll have fun... .... as you mindlessly look at your computer screen drained of all your life force as you can't fix this one ♥♥♥♥ing thing.

5. ♥♥♥♥ Construct 2.. ♥♥♥♥ it right in the ♥♥♥♥♥z.

6. RUN!

First, I should note that this review only applies to the free version. If you have a license (which is really expensive for me, so I don't plan on getting one soon, but if you want to make money it might be worth it), disregard this.

The free version of Construct 2 is too limiting. You cannot use object families, which means that, for example you have to set every individual enemy type to damage the player instead of just adding "When player collides with enemy". This goes with the second flaw: you can only have up to 100 events. Events are what make your game work, so unless you're planning on making a generic platformer or shmup you won't be able to do much.

The final nail in the coffin for Construct 2 free edition is that Construct Classic, which can do nearly everything this version can do without restrictions, is available for free. So unless you want to buy a license, go use that version instead.

A simple, and "relatively" easy to learn tool Construct 2 comes with tutorials and samples to help you get started making 2d games fast. Construct 2 is a free alternative to some of the other game makers you will find here on Steam, and with its simple tools you are sure to be able to at least make something, and maybe even learn something in the process. I think you should try Construct 2 if you looking for a game making tool. Or even if you are just interested in making 2d games. There is not alot I can say about this particular game making software, besides that it is simple and free. Overall would I rate Construct 2 Decent on a scale of suck to awesome.

Howdy,

If you are wishing to get into game development but like myself can not passably wrap your mind around even a rudimentary programing language, Construct 2 is for you. I was suggested that the best place to start when learning how to make games is to start with 2d and once you understand that move onto 3d. The most outstanding feature of C2 is its graphical programing. Here you can see what you are working with laid out in a easy to understand format. In this regard it can be compared to Game Maker; however there is a lot more that you can do with C2 given the nature of the engine.

For those who want to take the time to learn there is a Free version that is kind of like a unlimited trial. Keep in mind that you are limited to 100 events and some of the more advanced features like family's are locked. There are two levels of paid licence, a full and a business one. The Full has all the features the business but the one advantage of the business that you do not have to pay royalties to the makers of C2 for using there engine commercially. NOTE that the full licence can also be used to make commercial games but you are limited to $1000 dollars in revenue before you have to buy a business licence. Which costs much less than that.

For those who can program know that the engine runs in javascript and is highly expandable. With a full licence you can download from a large and ever growing list of plugins. Also the community is among the most helpful and friendly place to learn that I have come across to date. The devs are active and listen to feedback and there are updates every few weeks.

If you are looking to make your start in development I cant recommend this highly enough.
