As a complete noob in coding and after trying unity and gamemaker I can be 100% that this is the best app for making simple games fast!

All the other game making apps I have tryed, claimed to be verry easy to use.
If they are easy to use, than either I am a complete idiot, or construct 2 is just some sort of thoughts to code transformator.

Simply put. If you want to start making games, without almost any code knowledge, you need to try this!

Its easy to use, and i would recommend it for everyone who wants to try to develop small or big 2D games. But it takes time to get a really good result.
Its a great piece of software, that is perfect for a beginner, and even good if you already know how to code, since it reduces development time really much.
Please note, that everyone noting that C2 on Steam is instable - It's the same product & code, except how it handles to check if you bought it. It's definetely not instable, it was, but not only on Steam, and it got fixed in the meantime.
C2 also features auto-backup, Official Multiplayer (WebRTC | WiP) & there is more to come, since it's a very good maintained product by scirra. There are almost weekly updates, with fixes, improvements & additions. It also has a Experimental Greenworks plugin to enable some features of the Steam API for games made with it to get released on Steam.
(It gets reduced by 33-50% in Winter/Summer Sales, some times.)
And the time displayed on top of the review, is not the actual time, its only what i used in the free edition. Actual time 500+ hours (And counting).

In concluison before explaination: Construct 2 is a semi-perfect software and easy to use.

Really simple to use, and in no time are you able to teach youself, tons of cool features. One of the downsides is that at times you can't go completely in depth. Physics and Movement is layed out for you, and is easy to just jump right in. For people like me, who like to work with pixel-art has to increase the size of a 500 - 1000% bigger,
and if i dont, then it will look de-pixelated/blurry.

Construct 2 gets a 7.8/10

Great program for the beginner/intermedite programmer interested in creating games! Great educational tool though as I may use it to teach my kids the basics of programming. I particually like to have 100% control over my projects so I will stick to the hard coding and designing my own projects. Basically I checked this out to use as a tool to get my kids more involved and to teach them.

First, I should note that this review only applies to the free version. If you have a license (which is really expensive for me, so I don't plan on getting one soon, but if you want to make money it might be worth it), disregard this.

The free version of Construct 2 is too limiting. You cannot use object families, which means that, for example you have to set every individual enemy type to damage the player instead of just adding "When player collides with enemy". This goes with the second flaw: you can only have up to 100 events. Events are what make your game work, so unless you're planning on making a generic platformer or shmup you won't be able to do much.

The final nail in the coffin for Construct 2 free edition is that Construct Classic, which can do nearly everything this version can do without restrictions, is available for free. So unless you want to buy a license, go use that version instead.

Construct 2 is amazing. I've been using it since 2009 and the first public alphas, and it grew SO much since then. It's really really simple for those just getting into programming, but can also be really powerfull if you know what you're doing.

Check out a list of games greenlight games that are being made in it here:

Free version is limiting to the point where I am not sure of everything this software is capable to do and whether the paid version can cover enough to explaint the price. I would suggest making all features available, at least as a trial, as many people won't pay for a cat in a bag. As someone who used Construct2 version to teach art students how to make a simple side scroller with an enemy, they couldn't do or learn half the things because they weren't available to them. It's simple, look at what other developers did- they have either trials or only charge if someone makes money off the designed product.

*6/13/2016 EDIT*

After actually paying the required $130 to own the software (like a total maniac), I can confirm that it's actually still pretty good. I will admit that I had tried the full version through a... errr.... less than legal method, but I think Construct 2 is solid enough that it's well worth the money (admittedly, it's still a bit expensive but for what you can do with it I can say that it's not extremely out of range).

Coming from Clickteam Fusion 2.5 to this helped significantly, since it worked on many of the same principles, albiet a lot less buggy and outdated like Fusion is (seriously, they've been using the same basic system for almost TWENTY YEARS. You'd think that after such a long time they'd realise that having to make loops and then make the controls start those loops to make pixel-precise movements was a bad idea).

Construct 2 helps simplify the game development process while also having a level of advancedness to it that keeps it from being extremely unflexible and basic. Sure, you can't do EVERYTHING with it, but there's a good damn lot you can pull off with it. For a good example, check out The Last Penelope (which is on Steam right now) to see what crazy ♥♥♥♥ people have done with this engine.

The only real issue I have with it is the apparent lack of any good .exe exporters. Sure, the HTML5 and Scirra Arcade exporters work fine (when Scirra Arcade wants to cooperate, but that's a story for another day), but the 3rd party nw.js exporter is absolute GARBAGE. It eats memory like crazy, lingers in task manager when you close programs made in it for some reason and inflates 20 MB games by over 100 MBs. In short, set up a good server or use Dropbox or something, it's a far less annoying option (as nice as keeping games offline is). It's not as feasable as a in-general software development tool as Fusion is, but using it for what it's meant for (making games), it works pretty damn fine.

In short, I recommend Construct 2 for both budding game developers (like me) and lazy people who want to make games without having to learn a massive amount of stuff (also me). It's simple to use, and yet it's very powerful once you know what you're doing. Don't go in expecting to make the next Half-Life or Commander Keen, but, as experience has taught me, you'll probably get there soon enough with enough time and training.

It's pretty nice, but the free version has some pretty lame restrictions. Kind of unfortunate, seeing how expensive the software is.

Its easy to get the hang of it, but you need to experiment. I don't know anything about coding, but I already made a game for my friends and it didnt suck like when I tried with Game Maker or Unity. Its pretty limited but really easy to use.
I would personally give it 8/10.
The android and IOS feature needs other tools to run properly ,but the other tools are free which makes it easier.
