In concluison before explaination: Construct 2 is a semi-perfect software and easy to use.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Really simple to use, and in no time are you able to teach youself, tons of cool features. One of the downsides is that at times you can't go completely in depth. Physics and Movement is layed out for you, and is easy to just jump right in. For people like me, who like to work with pixel-art has to increase the size of a 500 - 1000% bigger,
and if i dont, then it will look de-pixelated/blurry.

Construct 2 gets a 7.8/10

It is a very good piece of software for anyone interested in creating 2D games without programing skills. The free version allows for 100 lines of code, however- barely adequite in my humble opinion. However, it is still fantastic for those people who like to create simple games without having to learn a programing language.

First, I should note that this review only applies to the free version. If you have a license (which is really expensive for me, so I don't plan on getting one soon, but if you want to make money it might be worth it), disregard this.

The free version of Construct 2 is too limiting. You cannot use object families, which means that, for example you have to set every individual enemy type to damage the player instead of just adding "When player collides with enemy". This goes with the second flaw: you can only have up to 100 events. Events are what make your game work, so unless you're planning on making a generic platformer or shmup you won't be able to do much.

The final nail in the coffin for Construct 2 free edition is that Construct Classic, which can do nearly everything this version can do without restrictions, is available for free. So unless you want to buy a license, go use that version instead.

I feel I must express how genius this software is, as a hobby programmer, I know that most non-coding software development tools tend to be very limited. This is one of the only programs I know (the other being GameMaker Studio), that are both easy to use, but powerfull enough to make a game that is actually good.

I rate it 2^2*2.5 out of 10

I love construct 2 but let me break it down for someone wanting to make a game.

Unless you got a ton of money to buy everything,

1. Your going to have to create your own art which sounds easy but to make anything worth playing it's going to take serious time and dedication. We are talking HOURS,DAYS,MONTHS even YEARS.

2. Your going to have to make your own sound effects, music ect..

3. It seems simple at first shure you can get a ball to roll around but whats that you want to make this super cool excellent mulitplayer game that will make you mega rich!? HAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
First off your going to have to shut yourself in become a hermit drink gallons of tea for hours, lose sleep, become paranoid of the outside world,Read legal ♥♥♥♥ over and over and over and over and over... Invest TONS of ♥♥♥♥ing money! then you'll make 20 bucks off your $800 investment WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! OH but it gets better! That "no coding" this is more like... you don't have to code but you have to learn how to work this ♥♥♥♥ing program and all the damn bugs that arise not to mention it would probley be easier to learn JAVA then this. MY GOD YOU WILL LOSE YOUR LIFE TO THIS ♥♥♥♥ING PROGRAM THAT WILL GIVE U NIGHTMARES AT NIGHT TILL THE POINT YOUR BUGGED OUT!

4. You'll have fun... .... as you mindlessly look at your computer screen drained of all your life force as you can't fix this one ♥♥♥♥ing thing.

5. ♥♥♥♥ Construct 2.. ♥♥♥♥ it right in the ♥♥♥♥♥z.

6. RUN!

Very simple to use software. If you have your resources prepared you can very easily make a simple game in a matter of minutes. This software was designed for those with little to no programming knowledge, and because of that, has limitations on what it can do.

Great for apps, if you're making something for the desktop, Facebook, or the Android play store, this software allows you to export your project for these as well as many others. Adding input methods is very simple, and controls and physics are just a few clicks away.

In the case of RPGs this is not the greatest software to use, in fact in some situations it would be easier to type up the code, which is not currently possible. The user forum is very useful in helping you solve issues, but there are some things that just are not possible in construct at the moment.

I recommend this software to anyone focusing on smaller games and apps; however, keep in mind what kind of game you're wanting to publish when purchasing this software.

I think that this piece of software is brilliant! It is perfect for people who want to create a game like Flappy Bird and other games like that but can't code. If people just want to make a fun little game that they can play, then this is for them. I really like it, but the only improvment I can think of is allowing you to use it on an Android device, even if that meant you had to download the app to play it. Other than that, it is awesome. I would really recommend this to anyone who wants to create little games for themselves, or if you have money, big games.

- Fairly good game development tool - it lacks some of the most advanced features in other engines.
- Excellent educational tool, specially for those that have no coding experience whatsoever.
- Awesome prototyping tool - get to test your gameplay idea as soon as possible.

Free version is great, there is no reason not to download and try (and maybe buy afterwards?)

Great for beginners who know little to none about coding a game, but it can also be used by those who do know how to code and it offers an easier why to implement your code into the game.

I own a personal lisc. Its a good tool for begginers -- There isn't an Auto Save Function, nor is there one when you test play. Program is very crash prone, if you tick it off a certain way. Although its best practice to save your work as many times as you needed, for those who have gotten use to programs that already do that for you will find yourself frustrated starting a project to find that your work and progress has been lost because of an issue with the software.

Otherwise, Its not the best tool in the world, but I wouldnt pay $130 for it. Starting to regret it.

Totally would recommend this. With anything that requires some level of creativity, it'll take a bit to get accustomed to. It is a bit proned to crashing so don't forget to save often.

I've spent about 50+ hours total on this program and I've learned a great deal of game making alone from it. Don't knock it until you've given it an honest try. It really is an amazing product.

Its easy to use, and i would recommend it for everyone who wants to try to develop small or big 2D games. But it takes time to get a really good result.
Its a great piece of software, that is perfect for a beginner, and even good if you already know how to code, since it reduces development time really much.
Please note, that everyone noting that C2 on Steam is instable - It's the same product & code, except how it handles to check if you bought it. It's definetely not instable, it was, but not only on Steam, and it got fixed in the meantime.
C2 also features auto-backup, Official Multiplayer (WebRTC | WiP) & there is more to come, since it's a very good maintained product by scirra. There are almost weekly updates, with fixes, improvements & additions.
If you would like to use the Steamworks API, you can't directly use it, since its written in C++ and C2 is a HTML5 Game engine. But if you have no problem with that, go ahead and buy this product, its great. (It gets reduced by 50% in Winter/Summer Sales, some times.)
And the time displayed on top of the review, is not the actual time, its only what i used in the free edition. Actual time 400+ hours (And counting).

As a complete noob in coding and after trying unity and gamemaker I can be 100% that this is the best app for making simple games fast!

All the other game making apps I have tryed, claimed to be verry easy to use.
If they are easy to use, than either I am a complete idiot, or construct 2 is just some sort of thoughts to code transformator.

Simply put. If you want to start making games, without almost any code knowledge, you need to try this!
