Good program however there is many problems with this software, First you need to "Learn" then "Create" there is a small learning curve however when you just want to create a game, there should be hints, for example... The part where you set the position of an object, it does not show you the dropdown list which contains cos,sin player.x etc etc, you have to FIGURE IT OUT YOURSELF! There is no notice on the panel that you can input variables into these box's at all which is pretty stupid and leaves the dev thinking "how do i get the players position?" untill he stumbles across the input var box's and types letters in...

Also, i have an i3 with 970gtx but for some reason the suite crashes for no reason, no lock up message, no nothing.. just froze on screen, I think the devs need to work on this before i make the leap to [personal]

Been using this for a while before I knew it was on Steam, so the hours played doesn't really matter. As someone who has no knowledge of coding, I'm able to make the game I've always wanted too. I don't feel limited either, the engine is very powerful.

So, I had a good idea for a game. I went on my computer and searched on YouTube "how to make a game" and it came up with lots of complicated stuff. I looked around a bit, and found Construct 2. I just thought it would be another complex programming language, IT WASN'T.

Construct 2 is INCREDIBLE. Wanna make a game??? Then do it.
You don't need to learn.
You don't need to code.
You don't need to know Javascript. (or HTML5 or Java or Ruby or... you know what I mean.)

9/10 As it has it's weak points, but I may just buy this!

This is amazing! Only question, will you ever make the prices cheaper? I is amazing and I do not see anyone's concerns, but I do have 1 of my own. There is no if else. I could have made one of my programs that is 30 lines long 13 lines long.
Please take this into consideration for the next update.

Its easy to use, and i would recommend it for everyone who wants to try to develop small or big 2D games. But it takes time to get a really good result.
Its a great piece of software, that is perfect for a beginner, and even good if you already know how to code, since it reduces development time really much.
Please note, that everyone noting that C2 on Steam is instable - It's the same product & code, except how it handles to check if you bought it. It's definetely not instable, it was, but not only on Steam, and it got fixed in the meantime.
C2 also features auto-backup, Official Multiplayer (WebRTC | WiP) & there is more to come, since it's a very good maintained product by scirra. There are almost weekly updates, with fixes, improvements & additions. It also has a Experimental Greenworks plugin to enable some features of the Steam API for games made with it to get released on Steam.
(It gets reduced by 33-50% in Winter/Summer Sales, some times.)
And the time displayed on top of the review, is not the actual time, its only what i used in the free edition. Actual time 500+ hours (And counting).

As a complete noob in coding and after trying unity and gamemaker I can be 100% that this is the best app for making simple games fast!

All the other game making apps I have tryed, claimed to be verry easy to use.
If they are easy to use, than either I am a complete idiot, or construct 2 is just some sort of thoughts to code transformator.

Simply put. If you want to start making games, without almost any code knowledge, you need to try this!

In concluison before explaination: Construct 2 is a semi-perfect software and easy to use.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Really simple to use, and in no time are you able to teach youself, tons of cool features. One of the downsides is that at times you can't go completely in depth. Physics and Movement is layed out for you, and is easy to just jump right in. For people like me, who like to work with pixel-art has to increase the size of a 500 - 1000% bigger,
and if i dont, then it will look de-pixelated/blurry.

---------------------------
Construct 2 gets a 7.8/10

Great program for the beginner/intermedite programmer interested in creating games! Great educational tool though as I may use it to teach my kids the basics of programming. I particually like to have 100% control over my projects so I will stick to the hard coding and designing my own projects. Basically I checked this out to use as a tool to get my kids more involved and to teach them.

Construct 2 is amazing. I've been using it since 2009 and the first public alphas, and it grew SO much since then. It's really really simple for those just getting into programming, but can also be really powerfull if you know what you're doing.

Check out a list of games greenlight games that are being made in it here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=103535227

First, I should note that this review only applies to the free version. If you have a license (which is really expensive for me, so I don't plan on getting one soon, but if you want to make money it might be worth it), disregard this.

The free version of Construct 2 is too limiting. You cannot use object families, which means that, for example you have to set every individual enemy type to damage the player instead of just adding "When player collides with enemy". This goes with the second flaw: you can only have up to 100 events. Events are what make your game work, so unless you're planning on making a generic platformer or shmup you won't be able to do much.

The final nail in the coffin for Construct 2 free edition is that Construct Classic, which can do nearly everything this version can do without restrictions, is available for free. So unless you want to buy a license, go use that version instead.

As the description mentioned, there is no coding necessary which is why I devote 90 percent of all my game creation to this here piece of art. Now, as this is a free package, you are NOT limited to anything in here. Which is why I consider it to be better than Unity 5 2D and Stencyl combined. I have the ability to make games that can become famous such as Bloodbath KavKaz and other winning titles. The coding is whats called an event sheet which is very vital and unlike some coding materials, spaghetti code is non existant here in which you actually can sub-divide your events here. Finally, exporting your 2D game is super easy and only a few clicks. Game devs, you can take it from here. Reccomend this game completely. Ten out of ten.

Free version is limiting to the point where I am not sure of everything this software is capable to do and whether the paid version can cover enough to explaint the price. I would suggest making all features available, at least as a trial, as many people won't pay for a cat in a bag. As someone who used Construct2 version to teach art students how to make a simple side scroller with an enemy, they couldn't do or learn half the things because they weren't available to them. It's simple, look at what other developers did- they have either trials or only charge if someone makes money off the designed product.
