So, I had a good idea for a game. I went on my computer and searched on YouTube "how to make a game" and it came up with lots of complicated stuff. I looked around a bit, and found Construct 2. I just thought it would be another complex programming language, IT WASN'T.

Construct 2 is INCREDIBLE. Wanna make a game??? Then do it.
You don't need to learn.
You don't need to code.
You don't need to know Javascript. (or HTML5 or Java or Ruby or... you know what I mean.)

9/10 As it has it's weak points, but I may just buy this!

This is amazing! Only question, will you ever make the prices cheaper? I is amazing and I do not see anyone's concerns, but I do have 1 of my own. There is no if else. I could have made one of my programs that is 30 lines long 13 lines long.
Please take this into consideration for the next update.

Love this been looking for something that can beat LBP3 no coding stick. Something where I can make a 2D game with out to much limits and/or coding. I never made a 2D game befor step on LBP. I'm starting to learn lots of things with this and its awesome. I don't have the payed 1 becuase I don't have the money for something like this if it gos on seal mabe if it dos go on seal that is. I mite get it if it gos to around $60 mabe idk it will depend if I wan't it badly and/or have the money or good enough to make a game. I hope 1 day I'll make a game but I'm still lerning and still have to get better with pixel art level design and other crazy stuff I have to learn. O man I have lost to work for but thats ok I want to try this and get better at it.

Really easy to for those who want to try out the gaming industry of course you can do more with advanced software like: Unity3D pro or Unreal Engine, but for beginners it is a good choice.

I must say the Construct 2 is simply a brilliant software for creating 2D games and apps. I use the program in my 2D Games/Apps class that I'm teaching. There’s so much you can create in Construct 2, platformers, top down shooters, puzzles, etc. All of my students love it and have a blast learning all the different parts of the software. I created a simple game to show to my class, I turned the Flappy Bird style template into a Death Star trench run, avoid the turrets and a get high score. This demo I created for class has impressed both my colleagues and my students alike. I had a fun time creating the game as well!

I have found only downside is that some of the stuff like coding gets tough and confusing at times, lucky there are tons of helpful tutorials on the Scirra website, defiantly check them out. Other than that it all works fantastically!

As a teacher and a gamer, I recommend this to anybody who is into gaming or interested in creating your own game or app.

I give this awesome software a 10/10! Enjoy!

Its easy to use, and i would recommend it for everyone who wants to try to develop small or big 2D games. But it takes time to get a really good result.
Its a great piece of software, that is perfect for a beginner, and even good if you already know how to code, since it reduces development time really much.
Please note, that everyone noting that C2 on Steam is instable - It's the same product & code, except how it handles to check if you bought it. It's definetely not instable, it was, but not only on Steam, and it got fixed in the meantime.
C2 also features auto-backup, Official Multiplayer (WebRTC | WiP) & there is more to come, since it's a very good maintained product by scirra. There are almost weekly updates, with fixes, improvements & additions. It also has a Experimental Greenworks plugin to enable some features of the Steam API for games made with it to get released on Steam.
(It gets reduced by 33-50% in Winter/Summer Sales, some times.)
And the time displayed on top of the review, is not the actual time, its only what i used in the free edition. Actual time 500+ hours (And counting).

As a complete noob in coding and after trying unity and gamemaker I can be 100% that this is the best app for making simple games fast!

All the other game making apps I have tryed, claimed to be verry easy to use.
If they are easy to use, than either I am a complete idiot, or construct 2 is just some sort of thoughts to code transformator.

Simply put. If you want to start making games, without almost any code knowledge, you need to try this!

In concluison before explaination: Construct 2 is a semi-perfect software and easy to use.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Really simple to use, and in no time are you able to teach youself, tons of cool features. One of the downsides is that at times you can't go completely in depth. Physics and Movement is layed out for you, and is easy to just jump right in. For people like me, who like to work with pixel-art has to increase the size of a 500 - 1000% bigger,
and if i dont, then it will look de-pixelated/blurry.

Construct 2 gets a 7.8/10

Great program for the beginner/intermedite programmer interested in creating games! Great educational tool though as I may use it to teach my kids the basics of programming. I particually like to have 100% control over my projects so I will stick to the hard coding and designing my own projects. Basically I checked this out to use as a tool to get my kids more involved and to teach them.

Construct 2 is amazing. I've been using it since 2009 and the first public alphas, and it grew SO much since then. It's really really simple for those just getting into programming, but can also be really powerfull if you know what you're doing.

Check out a list of games greenlight games that are being made in it here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=103535227

First, I should note that this review only applies to the free version. If you have a license (which is really expensive for me, so I don't plan on getting one soon, but if you want to make money it might be worth it), disregard this.

The free version of Construct 2 is too limiting. You cannot use object families, which means that, for example you have to set every individual enemy type to damage the player instead of just adding "When player collides with enemy". This goes with the second flaw: you can only have up to 100 events. Events are what make your game work, so unless you're planning on making a generic platformer or shmup you won't be able to do much.

The final nail in the coffin for Construct 2 free edition is that Construct Classic, which can do nearly everything this version can do without restrictions, is available for free. So unless you want to buy a license, go use that version instead.
