First thing is first. I love it. This is my favorite 2D engine. Here is a list of why:
1) Very Simple and very well designed.
2) Comes with other projects, including Flappy Bird, editable platformers, Space Shooters, and a whole bunch of others.
3) It's free.
4) Comes with a simple pixel art program to design characters in your game.
5) Did I mention it is free?
6) Hundreds of helpful tutorials explaining how this and that works.
7) You can basicly make anything with the payed version.
8) Although Construct 2 paid cost $120-$150, the free version can make amazing games.
9) I forgot to mention that it is free.
I wouldnt rate this a full 10 stars,, but is to good for an 8. I will give this a rating of 9 stars exactly.

Probably the best 2D game creator out there.
While the free version is sort of limiting, and can't make big games, I could still make a FNAF ripoff.
So 10/10.

Gets slower and buggier with each update, but it's nonetheless a very easy to use and incredibly powerful peice of software.
Construct 2 makes game-creation as simple as you always assumed it must be when you were a kid. Give it a try!

Free version is limiting to the point where I am not sure of everything this software is capable to do and whether the paid version can cover enough to explaint the price. I would suggest making all features available, at least as a trial, as many people won't pay for a cat in a bag. As someone who used Construct2 version to teach art students how to make a simple side scroller with an enemy, they couldn't do or learn half the things because they weren't available to them. It's simple, look at what other developers did- they have either trials or only charge if someone makes money off the designed product.

One of the best game makers out there! Tons of features to help you create one of those indie jewels ;b Extremely easy to learn and no previous game making knowledge is needed. If you want to try use this I reccomened downloading the desktop version rather than the steam. Opening files is a lot easier I find.

I loved using Construct 2 free, as an indie dev starting out i spent a good 7 hours making a build of a fighting game and got a pre pre pre alpha stage, impressed with the user friendlyness of the program though some coding issues have hapened to me ive learnt to solve them using creative and for the most part lazy ways, if i had the money i would definitly pay for the personal version and I recommend it to all who want to develop their first game.

Its easy to use, and i would recommend it for everyone who wants to try to develop small or big 2D games. But it takes time to get a really good result.
Its a great piece of software, that is perfect for a beginner, and even good if you already know how to code, since it reduces development time really much.
Please note, that everyone noting that C2 on Steam is instable - It's the same product & code, except how it handles to check if you bought it. It's definetely not instable, it was, but not only on Steam, and it got fixed in the meantime.
C2 also features auto-backup, Official Multiplayer (WebRTC | WiP) & there is more to come, since it's a very good maintained product by scirra. There are almost weekly updates, with fixes, improvements & additions. It also has a Experimental Greenworks plugin to enable some features of the Steam API for games made with it to get released on Steam.
(It gets reduced by 33-50% in Winter/Summer Sales, some times.)
And the time displayed on top of the review, is not the actual time, its only what i used in the free edition. Actual time 500+ hours (And counting).

As a complete noob in coding and after trying unity and gamemaker I can be 100% that this is the best app for making simple games fast!

All the other game making apps I have tryed, claimed to be verry easy to use.
If they are easy to use, than either I am a complete idiot, or construct 2 is just some sort of thoughts to code transformator.

Simply put. If you want to start making games, without almost any code knowledge, you need to try this!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In concluison before explaination: Construct 2 is a semi-perfect software and easy to use.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Really simple to use, and in no time are you able to teach youself, tons of cool features. One of the downsides is that at times you can't go completely in depth. Physics and Movement is layed out for you, and is easy to just jump right in. For people like me, who like to work with pixel-art has to increase the size of a 500 - 1000% bigger,
and if i dont, then it will look de-pixelated/blurry.

---------------------------
Construct 2 gets a 7.8/10

Great program for the beginner/intermedite programmer interested in creating games! Great educational tool though as I may use it to teach my kids the basics of programming. I particually like to have 100% control over my projects so I will stick to the hard coding and designing my own projects. Basically I checked this out to use as a tool to get my kids more involved and to teach them.

Construct 2 is amazing. I've been using it since 2009 and the first public alphas, and it grew SO much since then. It's really really simple for those just getting into programming, but can also be really powerfull if you know what you're doing.

Check out a list of games greenlight games that are being made in it here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=103535227

First, I should note that this review only applies to the free version. If you have a license (which is really expensive for me, so I don't plan on getting one soon, but if you want to make money it might be worth it), disregard this.

The free version of Construct 2 is too limiting. You cannot use object families, which means that, for example you have to set every individual enemy type to damage the player instead of just adding "When player collides with enemy". This goes with the second flaw: you can only have up to 100 events. Events are what make your game work, so unless you're planning on making a generic platformer or shmup you won't be able to do much.

The final nail in the coffin for Construct 2 free edition is that Construct Classic, which can do nearly everything this version can do without restrictions, is available for free. So unless you want to buy a license, go use that version instead.
