This. Game. Is Amazing. I always was intrigued by the mmorts, though i have never felt any of them got it right. DoF on the other hand, feels like what i always wanted an mmorts to feel like: An RTS where my city persists in a world with oither peoples cities.
I bought the game solely because of the dev's participation in the community, and discovered that the game is really good.
The content is really well thought out, especially the little things, like the types of units and their skills. For example: archers have an 'enfillade' skill, which allows them to place spears at their position. Awesome.
You can have multiple cities, so one could play as Man, Elf, and Orc, without being locked into a decision.
Again, the little things, like the dialogue of the Orcs that really seem, well, orcish, and the Dialogue of the humans that have a real feudal feeling.
The Devs also have listened to the player based, which is refreshing. The players didnt want the cash shop: they removed it. The players didnt like griefing: they made pvp protection easier to obtain. Another cool thing: Your town can't get attacked if your offline. Very cool.
The community is really helpful too; Ive never seen a question in global chat go unanswered.
I've always like real time strategies, and mmos, and DoF does a really good job of joining them.
