About Kinetic Void

Kinetic Void is a 3D space adventure with a focus on customization and exploration. The shipyard allows players to construct their ship piece by piece. Ships can be as simplistic as a cockpit, a hull, a engine and a gun, or as complex as a player wants. Each module has available subsystems which can be applied to strengthen specific attributes of the ship, and when damaged, those subsystems may be destroyed. While in space flight, interactions between objects are governed by the physics engine. Running into an asteroid at high speed will damage your ship, potentially with catastrophic effects. Using the Kinetic Field Generator (KFG) in game will allow your ship to create an artificial gravity around the ship, both protecting the ship as well as allowing your ship to fly freely through space. This field will also enable the Micro Warp Drive, catapulting your ship far into space in a matter of seconds. Kinetic Void is a procedurally generated adventure, there is no main story line. The decisions and direction is left up to the player. Ally with factions, go to war, build your ship and amass wealth, the choices are yours.

A New Galaxy Every Time.

Procedural galaxy creation allows as many new experiences as you'd like. When a new game is started, the galaxy map, contents of each sector, and the factions involved will be generated from scratch. You may continue to play this galaxy, or if you'd like to try something different, create a brand new galaxy. Don't worry, your old galaxy will be saved in its current state if you ever wish to return. Choose how many sectors you'd like in your galaxy, as well as how many factions (NPCs) and whether your ships will be Creative or Career mode.

Know Your Neighbors.

In Kinetic Void the galaxy is a living, breathing thing. Not all factions get along, not all of them hate each other. As factions interact, agreements and treaties will be made and broken. Trade, combat and piracy will affect how the factions see each other based on their own internal standings.

Fully Detailed and customizable Space Ships.

Tailor your ship for any role. Make a sleek fighter, a bulky freighter, or a mighty carrier. Your ship’s capabilities and appearance are completely up to you. Using Kinetic Void’s ship builder you can make exactly the ship you want. Customize every part of your ship from cockpits, hulls, engines, weapons, and aesthetic modules. Each module has its own statistics that affect the total performance of your ship. Every module can be further customized by adding subsystems (right click on a module to add subsystems). You can even color your ship exactly how you want. Each module has seven color fields allowing you to make amazing ships quickly, and easily. Once your ship is created, save it to your computer, or share it to the Steam Workshop for the world to see. Subscribed ships from the workshop have a random chance of making it into any new galaxy as a faction vessel.

Freedom to Choose Your Fate.

Be the scourge of the galaxy, or its savior. A life of combat and struggle not your thing? Become an intergalactic trader and influence the galaxy one deal at a time. Not interested in being a ‘good guy’? Take on a life of piracy and plunder your way through sectors, creating havoc wherever you go, then docking at pirate stations for supplies as needed.

Intense Active Combat.

Target enemy ships and maneuver in real time to align devastating broad-sides or crippling strafing runs. Deploy drones to do your dirty work or simply confuse the enemy into targeting them instead of you while you deal with the enemy vessel. In Kinetic Void, your skills as a pilot are just as important as the components that make up your ship.

Take Direct Control Of Your Ship.

Kinetic Void offers three control modes. In cursor-mode, the player can control the ship through keyboard commands, and pan the camera with the mouse in any direction for quick tactical overview; or Mouse Flight-mode, allowing direct control of the ship through mouse movements. Control your battleship’s turrets from a sweeping orbital camera or slip between asteroids in a dogfight while piloting your heavy-fighter using mouse flight mode. Switch between modes at any time to best suit the situation.

Unfinished game is unfinished. The devs just gave up, and took my money and ran without delivering.

It's always a gamble, buying a game in pre-release. It sucks when you roll snake eyes.

Robocraft is better. Subnautica is better. Don't waste your money. For the three people who don't already know: Avoid this game.

One of the first Early Access titles I purchased. Think I spent $5 on it. Just as Towns made me question Greenlit titles, this definitely gives me pause as a consumer to consider purchasing most EA titles from now on.

So much Idea space to work with! A wonderfull ship builder! Now if you aactually want to do anything with it? No, sorry you will have to look for another game. I love the visuals! Good effects, (some of them look WIP) the music is nice. but i can not think of anything better to say about this, sorry! its got so much promise! just another 3-4 years of Active development might and i do say might! make the game portion of this playable.

The tutorial does a pretty bad job of explaining this complicated game. It's entirely text based, very dry, and doesn't even cover everything. I'm not trying to spend 45 minutes reading a text book to figure out how to build a ship... Kerbal Space Program and Space Engineers have fantastic and complicated build systems that take 1/4 of the time to learn that this game does.

The last patch destroyed what I enjoyed about the game.

Sadly a friend bought this game last year seeing that I owned it, only to find he can't even complete the first "mission" in it.

Yest it's abandoned, and Steam shouldn't be selling something that is abandoned by the developer, as that's a complete disrespect of the Steam community, gamers who didn't join steam to buy abandoned Early Access developments.

I hope more players let Steam know, and, should Steam not be receptive, contact the Consumer Affairs department of the Attorney General's Office of the State of Washington for it is too easy for Con-Artists to use Steam's Early Access model to bilk players and the gaming community on Steam of money intended to purchase games we mean to enjoy.

it's a joke that the game is still displayed despite having been abandoned far over a year ago ;_; its buggy, its useless, and your better of with space engineers or something similar, the only positive reviews are mostly over two years old from the early access stage.

and if you need one more thing to convince you its junk?

This game ran out of money and development has ceased to exist. The game never got out of Alpha. Just know that if you buy this game, it has no story, no AI, and no support. It's essentially your custom ship flying around a galaxy map that is as pointless as this game is.

The game had a lot of potential. The ship designer is actually quite deep and the graphics were not all that bad. The studio that made the game just had a bad economic model. Hire programmers to develop a game with revenue from steam and kickstarter. When money ran out, the programmers ran out too. The end.

Kinetic Void was a game with high hopes, until we found out the hard way that the developers were to long abandon the game, leaving it in a lacking-boring state.

Game seems broken as hell as far as mission progression goes, and has been abandoned by the developer. Makes a good time waster if you just want to fly around, but don't expect much more than that.

No.

Start setting is what is unfortunately quite common in certain Early Access Games -> a EA Game abandoned/Developer not seen around for a long time and then there was a casual discussion about the game in the otherwise quiet forums and topic was the games content and it's development history. no flaming no nothing. just pondering over how things could have been and what was completed and talk about how to play the working parts of the game to get the best out of the game.

And then suddenly there is a ban. Developer resurrected himself from the dead to just do this ban without a written warning or reason and nothing more. And then he returned to the bottle it seems. No way to know what the problem was or chance to edit things. Just a permaban.

No Ban reason just a reference to rules. Well read the rules but no rules was infringed - how could they have been infringed as the discussion was quite neutral and non-accusatory. No finger pointing or anything just talk about how things could have been and still a ban. And a permanent ban too. For good. For me this is the first time i have ever been banned in ANY forums as hateful speech is something i simply will not do.

So i hereby use my right to tell people to stay out. I understand banning flame or hateful speech but this? No. just No.
Just keep out. There is nothing to see here. I refuse to even comment on the game itself as it has some pretty solid pro's too but since this is the way things are done around here then just staying out is the way to go.

To the garbage bin this game goes. Good riddance.

Enjoy the money you got for this dear dev. Enjoy it.

Review will not be updated further.

KV is the most memorable example in my own experience of how not to do an Early Access game. Initial goals were changed long into development, promised features were cut or totally ignored, and the final release date pushed so far back many of the earliest buyers gave up on this heap ever leaving Early Access. Seeing it hit full release just gave me a laugh, but I didn't reinstall it until months later - only to find out little had changed apart from the game running terribly now.

Couple the above with the disastrous censorship crusade LumberingTroll and his hub mods went on during the first major sale KV partook in (I was permabanned for trying to help a guy get his copy working - heaven forbid somebody know the game had technical troubles, amirite?), and you have all the makings of quality Steam drama.

What a letdown. This game has one of the most in-depth ship creators I've ever seen, and that part of the game is really cool. Then it got abandoned before the rest could be implemented or polished. Once you make the ship you can fly it around, but my interest was quickly lost. The combat and the universe and the ideas/mechanics are just lackluster, either broken or barely formed. The ideas seemed great, but ultimately you'll want to avoid getting this. There are other games that are similar that actually DID get completed. I wish that it would get finished, but it seems utterly forgotten.

Unfinished game, dev was abandonned and game is pretty much a mix of blandness and absence of content. One of my main reason for not buying any early access game except if it's already in a near finished state.

I really really just dont get this game, it started off really cool with a great ship making system, although they could simplify it a little since some of the buttons seemeed pointless, but alteast i made it through the tutorial that is riddled with typos and spelling mistakes (pointless tutorial by the way its basically like reading an instruction manual) But the moment i get into space with my ship im really excited to use im left wandering why i even botherd, the system is boring theres not much to do, the ship controls and movement seem clunky and distant, true the game focuses on customization but an "enjoyable space simiulation" I think not. This game needs some work for sure and most likely someone who owns a dictionary to proof read the game, not sure how a game gets released with so many errors, who ever made this should of invested in hiring some testers to work out the bugs and provide feedback cos this game is definatly in need of some work.

WHY DID YOU HAVE TO MAKE THIS?!
