Added

  • There is now a system message that will alert the user when an item is placed within the cargo hold from either a mining/salvage attempt.

Changed
  • Reduced range scaling of sensors based on tier.
  • Changed the out of space system message when an item that is larger than the cargo hold can hold, it will now show what free space the cargo hold has and the required space of the item.


Fixed
  • Brought back the stars again.
  • A bug causing AI ships to maneuver in ways inappropriate to their weight class has been fixed. Incidents of ramming should be greatly reduced.
  • Fixed an issue where subsystems were not showing up in the inventory after being collected via salvaging but was still taking up cargo hold space.
  • Credits are now shown correctly when in Sector.
  • Corrected an issue with the Station’s shaders.
  • Corrected an issue with the Planetary shaders for the OSX Client.

  • Galaxy Map - Under the System Name there is now a display for which faction currently owns that system.

Changed
  • Drones individual cargo inventory now scales correctly, make sure that you have enough cargo room on your ship to hold what they bring back.
  • Reduced thruster audio loop by 75%
  • Reduced Warp To distances to 10, 20, 50, 100 from 50, 100, 250, 500 Note: due to the nature of how fast the ship is moving, these are not hard values, there is around a 30% possible slide in the distance depending on at what point during the frame render the MWD turns off. The distance you warp to is the center of the target, please be aware of this.
  • Increase docking triggers on some stations as they were to close.
  • Increased Pitch/Yaw values across the board, you will still need to use Maneuvering thrusters to get optimal performance - if the pitch/yaw values of engines are too high, a ship with many engines for max speed would turn too sharply.
  • Changed all scaling factors to be within more reasonable number ranges.

Fixed
  • Fixed the issue of parts shifting when adding/modifying/removing parts in the shipyard.
  • Fixed the issue of projectiles hitting the movement particle clouds.
  • Fixed the issue of Post AA Effect not being able to be turned off in Sector.
  • Fixed the issue of when attempted to load ships if you clicked the Cancel button on the Overwrite Ship Message it would not load the requested ship.
  • Fixed a crash we were seeing on our end that occurred for galaxies with around 40+ systems. If you experience frequent crashes, please be prepared to provide us with Unity’s output log as well as any crash dumps generated.

About Kinetic Void

Kinetic Void is a 3D space adventure with a focus on customization and enjoyable space simulation. Our in game ship builder allows players to construct their ship piece by piece. Ships can be as simplistic as a cockpit, a single hull, a single engine and a single gun, or as complex as a player wants. Each module has available subsystems which can be applied to strengthen specific attributes of the ship, and when damaged, those subsystems may be destroyed. While in space flight, interactions between objects are governed by the physics engine. Running into an asteroid at high speed will damage your ship, potentially with catastrophic effects. If your ship is large enough however, it may be the asteroid that is decimated. Using the Kinetic Field Generator (KFG) in game will allow your ship to create an artificial gravity around the ship, both protecting the ship as well as allowing your ship to fly freely through space. This field will also enable the Micro Warp Drive, catapulting your ship far into space in a matter of seconds.

A New Galaxy Every Time.

Procedural galaxy creation allows as many new experiences as you'd like. When a new game is started, the galaxy map, contents of each sector, and the factions involved will be generated from scratch. You may continue to play this galaxy, or if you'd like to try something different, create a brand new galaxy. Don't worry, your old galaxy will be saved in its current state if you ever wish to return. Choose how many sectors you'd like in your galaxy, as well as how many factions (NPCs) and whether your ships will be Creative (unlimited components) or Career (much more challenging with limited components).

Know Your Neighbors.

In Kinetic Void the galaxy is a living, breathing thing. Not all factions get along, not all of them hate each other. As factions interact, agreements and treaties will be made and broken. Trade, combat and piracy will affect how the factions see each other based on their own internal standings.

Fully Detailed and customizable Space Ships.

Tailor your ship for any role. Make a sleek fighter, a bulky freighter, or a mighty carrier. Your ship’s capabilities and appearance are completely up to you. Using Kinetic Void’s ship builder you can make exactly the ship you want. Customize every part of your ship from cockpits, hulls, engines, weapons, and aesthetic modules. Each module has its own statistics that affect the total performance of your ship. Every module can be further customized by adding subsystems (right click on a module to add subsystems). You can even color your ship exactly how you want. Each module has seven color fields allowing you to make amazing ships quickly, and easily. Once your ship is created, save it to your computer, or share it to the Steam Workshop for the world to see. Subscribed ships from the workshop have a random chance of making it into any new galaxy as a faction vessel.

Freedom to Choose Your Fate.

Be the scourge of the galaxy, or its savior. A life of combat and struggle not your thing? Become an intergalactic trader and influence the galaxy one deal at a time. Not interested in being a ‘good guy’? Take on a life of piracy and plunder your way through sectors, creating havoc wherever you go, then docking at pirate stations for supplies and crew as needed. Intense Active Combat.

Target enemy ships and maneuver in real time to align devastating broad-sides or crippling strafing runs. Deploy drones to do your dirty work or simply confuse the enemy into targeting them instead of you while you deal devastating blows to the enemy vessel. In Kinetic Void, your skills as a pilot are just as important as the components that make up your ship.

Take Direct Control Of Your Ship.

Kinetic Void offers three control modes. In cursor-mode, the player can control the ship through keyboard commands, and pan the camera with the mouse in any direction for quick tactical overview; or Mouse Flight-mode, allowing direct control of the ship through mouse movements. Control your battleship’s turrets from a sweeping orbital camera or slip between asteroids in a dogfight while piloting your heavy-fighter using mouse flight mode. Switch between modes at any time to best suit the situation. The Mouse Flight-mode will also be controllable with joysticks making the flight jockeys out there feel right at home in the stars (Joystick support in development).

Great. Steam Workshop already, and a developer who joins in with the community. This game is going to be superb.
They are concentrating on all the right things first. Procedurally generated universes which you can save and come back to, user made ships, plenty of videos and tutorials to get you started. There is more to this one than meets the eye. With this solid foundation the rest of the content will fall intro place.
If they are not careful they'll give Early-Access a good name ;)

First off i would like to say that this is almost a cut and paste from another review I have done. If your reading this review, you already know if the game will be anything close to what your looking to play. I am here to review the Devs of the game. So many teams out there pump whatever dribble they please out without consideration of those playing the game. Ive owned the game for a long time and when I got the game it was very incomplete. As of todays patch I will be loading it up again to see the progress. The newest patch made me reread some of the discussions and reviews, just to see the team be concerned over positive and negative reviews as they are, and the way they phrase the responses has led me to admire and respect them. And I know my experience and concerns about the product will be addressed with the same level of care. Dont take that for granted people, if your just looking into the game be assured your opinion counts and just buy it already, support good devs and help shape the things to come.

Kinetic Void is getting there. It's a good game, but it's in development. So things are missing. Some things are broken. But there is an awfully fun space game in here. It place nicely, the ship builder is great and it feels great to fly around in. Give it a crack.

NOTE: this only covers what the game is in its current state, as more content is added I may (read probably) change to recommending this game.

The premisce of this game is gorious, build a beautiful spaceship from parts, stick modules in and fly around in a proceduraly generated universe. However at the moment there isn't enough content in the game to justify the purchase. While there are plenty of parts and they look lovely, adding modules is very tedious, and most of them don't even do anything yet. The combat currently fells quite lacking, fly towards an enemy, lock onto them and push a button to turn on your guns. Now keep your ship so the guns can turn to face them and try to stay in range.

Then there are the performance issues. The performance of the game isn't great, about as good as you could expect from an alpha. Both content and performance wise the game is improving, but I personally will require more real gameplay to be added before I am prepared to recoomend this game.

You can build any star ship from any television show or movie you ever liked. Or download someone else's version and skip the building it on your own.

Then you can tear ♥♥♥ through a galaxy the size and population you set, and all of this is just the start.

Early Access? Haha! This is ground floor. The sky is the limit.

Having 200+ hours under my belt I can say that this game is amazing when it comes to designing ships, However, the game has a long way to go until it is finally complete. I would still buy the game as it currently, because well, each time an update happens it encourages you to play more, and there are many updates to come.
