8.5/10 – Just Push Start

"Nazi Zombie Army ist den niedrigen Preis auf jeden Fall wert und wird die Art Zombie-Gemetzel bieten, die wir seit Left 4 Dead 2 nicht mehr erfahren haben."

Featuring a co-op campaign for 1 to 4 players, Nazi Zombie Army is a horrifying new stand-alone expansion of the award-winning Sniper Elite series.
In the dying flames of World War II, a despairing Hitler unleashes one final, unholy gamble – a legion of undead super soldiers that threatens to overwhelm the whole of Europe.

You are Karl Fairburne – the sniper who shaped world history. You are one of the last living souls in Germany. You must team up or die.
American, German, Russian – previous military allegiances no longer matter. Now it's just the living versus the dead.
Only a Sniper Elite with nerves of steel and a steady aim stands a chance against Hitler’s Nazi Zombie Army!

More than just a little late to the party on this. What a wicked game this is. Clearly designed to compete with COD Zombies, it brings it's own flavour to the genre and make it stand out on its own. I love the gore, the relentless hordes, and the giant zombies and boss fights really add a nice finishing touch. Highly recommend it and look forward to playing through 2 and 3, hopefully with friends as nobody is playing this online anymore.

Not necessarily a review (per se), more of a rant of all the negatives. If you can put up with the following garbage (gameplay impediments), then I'd recommend buying it. But rather, buy Zombie Army trilogy, get all three games plus additional modes without getting ripped off from buying 2 games that are incompatible to play co-op with someone who owns trilogy. (this game is designed to be co-op. Single player suffers do to unfair game mechanics, but is still playable)

This has been one of those frustrating games where I'm spending more time fighting (and consequently, dying from) the controls (and lousily deisnged mechanics, intrusive restrictions) than the enemies. - this is a MORTAL SIN OF GAME DESIGN. Don't make the player fight your game.

- I have to stand still to throw a grenade.
- An 8in barrel smg sprays out bullets at 45 degree angles from the end of the barrel (same with long barrel shotguns).
- A bolt action rifle recoils like a .50 cal. desert eagle.
- When you're zoomed in, you can't do anything but shoot (and move). Nothing will cancel the zoom but your zoom button! Not sprinting, not even reloading, not even switching weapons!

Hey, you walked 50 meters, now guess what, this THICK fog has moved in, surrounding your current location. So THICK you can't even walk through it! You know what that means. "SURVIVE THE SIEGE.... AGAIN"... another horde of zombies spawns inside the fog that you can't run into to "train" the zombies. And again, the stupid lag of having to unzoom before you do anything (instead of it being automatic when trying to sprint/melee/switch weapons).

You'll want to play on easy or definitely play co-op so you can have someone watching you back, because even though it's third person, you can get melee attacked from behind by someone you CAN'T F*CKING SEE! He's RIGHT BEHIND YOU and you CAN'T F*CKING SEE HIM IN THIRD PERSON! Seriously, what the ****?! Quick! sprint away! Nope! What? I can't sprint? quick, switch to your automatic! ugh, what's this? The aim is too slow, I can't get him in my sights. Ugh, quick, he's too close now. Melee. Melee! MELEE!!!... Why won't you F*CKING MELEE!

Seriously, WTF? You're stuck with your zoomed in view even when you try to sprint, melee, SWITCH WEAPONS and RELOAD!! UNLIKE EVERY OTHER FUTHERMUCKIN' SHOOTER OUT THERE with ADS and sprint that will cancel your scope when you sprint or change weapons or RELOAD! (Ok, except COD uses sprint as hold breath while scoped, but in this game, you can't bind empty lung and sprint to the same button. Why not? If you're not letting me sprint when I'm zoomed in anyway?) And why the hell can't you hear the groaning dead when they're RIGHT BEHIND YOU! again, it makes no sense, and is another bad game design point. Why NOT have audio cues to help the player? The zombies are like shy Jr. High boys: they'll let out a nervous, dumb "uuggghhh" moan when you make eye contact with them. Oh, but the creepy stalker behind me is as quiet as a ninja, not even footsteps! Turn around and now they'll start making noise: "Uugghhh - you caught me!" What gives?

- no help from audio cues
- no help from third person POV
= 2 more game design sins.

Your character is so slow at doing things (he deserves to get eaten), it's amazing that he's one of the sole survivors after everyone's become a zombie. Maybe he was so slow he took forever getting out of the bathroom and missed the part where everyone got zombified.

I'd be a fun game, but they balance the gameplay of what would be an easy game (killing slow zombies) if built into COD or any other modern FPS/3PS by severly removing any sort of gun handling skill your character would have. The weapons have a recoil (crosshair bloom) that's unreasonably high to force you to use a lower rate of fire. This does help build tension, though, as the zombies keep creeping up on you while you're waiting to fire. But it's just stupid to the point it's annoying. Like I pointed out before, why do all the automatics fire bullets out their barrels at 45 degree angles (at full auto, or by the 4th round fired)? Don't you feel almost like rambo with that PPsh... yeah, you might as well just be firing it off into the sky screaming "You won't take me alive!" as that'll be just as effective as trying to shoot full auto even while you're aiming at the zombies. Are guns really that inaccurate? NO! But they have to be in this game, or it'd be too easy to mow down the hordes while spraying at their heads. There's a different, more practical solution to that: limit ammo, so the player is forced to take his time to make each shot count. "You'll never take me sober!" "AAAHHH!!!" BAM-BAM-BAM-BAM-BAM-BAM "AAAAHHHH!!!"

Then that stupid fog rolls in and you can't go anywhere. "Hey, look guys! Another invisible wall just sprouted up! Hope you didn't want to go back for more ammo..." Not to mention, as soon as you show up in your new location the zombies start coming. The game is designed such, via weapons/items and level design, that you are to defend an area/fixed position from an assault. You get trip mines, land mines, dynamite. There are often gas cans/barrels that will explode when shot throughout the level. There are specific gaps in fences/low walls where you know enemies will walk through. It's all set up to let you booby trap and set up defenses. (sounds like a fun survival setup, right? "Alright, men, whatever happens, we hold the fort!" "Uh-rah!") And it could work, except that the enemies start spawning right away, and you're not given any time to explore the area to find equipment/items, or find the best spots to defend/shoot from. It's a shame because they set it up well, give you the level design and items, but no time. Unlike L4D, where they give you time to prepare ("activate X, prepare to fight the horde"). But L4D doesn't give you a wide variety of items or interesting level design to use those limited items in-it's all spray, reload, spray some more. And it's boring and way more repetative than this game in that respect. NZA also copies L4D with their "make it to the safe room". That's fine, it works; and it's nice to know there's a safe room ahead where I know they'll be supplies for me. But it's sad that they shot themselves in the foot, providing good defense mechanics but failing on the execution on what could've been a game that rivaled L4D as a slight Military "sim" version of the Zombie survival horror all nicely decorated with the most popular WWII era colors: rotted wood brown, axis uniform grey, charcoal dark gray, ash light grey, abandonded beige, cinder-block and rubble gray and a dash of communist/fascist red.

no. just buy the trilogy. And put up with the same BS in a slightly more polished game.

The game is very short and repetitive, all missions are similars. So, I recommended because you can kill nazi zombies with a sniper, you got it? but you should play 1h with friends and after returned it. If you want to play it again, no problem, you can repeat the strategy with the 2nd instalment of the game. They're equal.

Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army is a third-person shooter which focuses on cooperative up to four players, albeit it can be beaten in singleplayer too. It was developed by Rebellion and released in 2013. It's a spin-off title of Sniper Elite V2 and one would say that it feels like mod or DLC to it.

A thing to note is that when they released Nazi Zombie Army 2 they backported changes from it to the first game. That means that now you have all the grain effects, zombies have yellow shiny eyes and the Preacher weapon got changed. The Preacher always looked like a good old double shotgun, but in original version it actually was some kind of double-rifle, shooting very strong single bullet. Ever since the update it now behaves the way it looks - boomstick.
Kinda shame, as I would have prefered if the first game was kept unique compared to sequel.

Multiplayer community appears to be quite alive. From what little time I tried it, it would always find one lobby. And after a while it would get filled with few more players. Yes, they can join even when the game is in the process. But I guess that there may be times when there isn't anybody playing.

And yes, in this game you go through the linear levels and sometimes get locked into area during siege event. And yep, no plot, pretty much. Aside from Hitler released evil somehow and now you have to escape Berlin over 5 levels. Maybe Fegelein will know how to stop him in a sequel, hmm. And yes, you shoot many zombies. And skeletons.

One thing for sure, it has an awesome setting, even if it may get old. It's like a zombie-demons B-Movie old cheesy experience, you can tell that developers weren't taking themselves seriously. Tons of slow slumbering zombies to headshot. Lots of occult and demonic things spread over the levels, with corpses and blood everywhere, giving no care that there is way too much for it to makes sense. Dense colorful fog is covering the ground, it all looks moody and lighting is spread around to give off menacing shadows.
And most wonderful of it all is a soundtrack. It's a freaking spooky raving synth combined with piano. Awesome!

And yea, gameplay is great for coop. Though you can see that it was based on Sniper Elite v2 engine without much changes. You can still snipe, but instead of having to snipe due to distance, you will do it to accurately hit zombies into head. And due to close quarters, you will use the unscoped aiming of sniper rifle, by holding Left Ctrl button. And yea, headshotting zombies is important, otherwise they take few shots to die and can even revive again if their brains aren't blown. Sometimes it throws special zombies at you, which helps to vary it up. Even though it has a bit too much pure normal zombies encounters.
Sadly, there is no randomization, but it's still fun.

And yea, due to it being on Sniper Elite V2 it kept some strange things. For example, you can still stick to the cover, which is completely useless in this title. Well, almost, aside from rare case where I got pinned down by zombie snipers. As well as having to scavenge zombies body for ammo which takes few seconds gets really annoying, seeing how many zombies you kill. You just get really bored of it after a while, but then you may run out of ammo. On other hand, explosive traps fit to this game very very much. They are awesome and a well placed and well timed combination of explosive and dynamite can end lifes of dozens dozens zombies.
It does however not include any kind of stealth elements. It makes sense, but still will make you wonder about "Sniper Elite" part.

Sadly, singleplayer feels more of throw so people will not moan about lack of it. They don't even have achievements for beating any chapter in single anyway. There are no bots in this game and being solo isn't exciting. All the filler encounter with only normal zombies get very monotonous, since there is only you on battlefield. Heck, I even felt that difficulty and pacing was uneven. The first level's siege were actually the hardest and most fun ones in the game. Or it's the way it felt from beating campaign once. And heck, killcams that were praised in Sniper Elite V2 get annoying here in no end.

So yes, fun little spin-off but only in cooperative mode and it gets monotonous after a while. However, you should get Zombie Army Trilogy which includes campaign of this game.
P.S. It has different balance from ZAT. In ZAT kicks are much stronger, non-rifles are weaker, skeletons die from one kick.

Sniper Elite NZA is a very fun co-op zombie game which takes the gameplay from the amazingly fun Sniper Elite V2 and tosses it into a very fun but repetitive zombie shooter. What this game does right is the graphics - they are absolutely superb, despite the fog being a bit too much in most places. The reflections, textures, etc are really really good, and runs incredibly well too! The CO-OP is pretty good, the only thing I noticed is bullet delay in online mode. In my opinion, it is a very very fun game and definitely worth its asking price. There is fun to be had, and lots of it. The shooting is stunning, especially the slow-motion kills with the sniper - gruesomely fantastic!
Of course I just have to say the bad things now, and the game is very repetitive. On anything other than Cadet (easy difficulty) the enemies are bullet spondges so higher difficulty doesn't really make it any more fun. The game is - Go from point A to B and survive waves of enemies.

About 7.5/10. Really good and worth it.

This really was a fun game to play. So Ill vote YES for the most part. The other parts are just nuances Ill get into in a moment.

So you are back in Berlin and it's a Zombie Army you are fighting. There are 5 maps to go through and I can say, this is a pretty EVIL game. Single player is pretty good and you can have up to 4 players in Multiplayer. Unfortunately when you play single player, you are alone. Unlike Left 4 Dead where you have 3 other AI's with you. This would have proved interesting for harder levels. But that's not the case. So that is one of my quirks. Once you get use to the gameplay, it's pretty straight forward. Zombies come at you and no use using stealth for the most parts. It's not going to work. They just come right for you. So keep your hearbeat down for any quick sprints you may need.

The graphics are amazing! You are welcomed into the game with one of the most beautiful creeps scenes ever put on a game. Foggy everywhere and it's NIGHT time for this whole game. So I as usual, bought this on a discount and worth the $5. But one can easily be bored with single player, so let's head to multiplayer.

Multiplayer is GREAT! Harder levels are easier with other live players. I breezed though the elite levels pretty fast. You have the options if you start a server on how many enemies you want 1-4x per person. That means 4 enemies per person if you choose 4x. But this can prove fatal becasue it seems servers are not really reliable and people lose the connection. They do eventually come back in, but sometimes the damage is done. AND I do see issues with delay. I find myself losing bullets fast when I shoot a good shot, but it doesn't register. Again, a few small issues.

The music in the game is incredible. Sort of a 80's sound to it a little bit, but it is suiting to the game. Have a listen if you can.

Hope you enjoy the game

UPDATE on multiplayer and lag.
Well I believe it depends where you are player and where the server is. I have noticed that if I create the server, my lag is gone basically, and even other players don't have a problem.

Never played anything more frightening yet. The atmosphere is very daunting and grim just as it has to be. Also the controls are nice too. 9/10

Klasse Game mit vielen Zombies :)
+ Tolle Optik
+verschiedene Zombie-Arten
+X-Ray Kill-Cam :)
+Bestenliste --> Langzeitmotivation
+Genialer Koop Modus
+(relativ) viele verschiedene Waffen

-keine Waffen-Modifikationen
